I think we are far along enough in "The Process" where we can bring in players who aren't process guys and fit them into "The Process."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 99.9% of the anti-gun control right wing would consider your reasonable and solution oriented suggestions highly unconstitutional and bordering on tyranny. -

I worked on a project that dove into the prevalance of work place violence. It was eye opening. It is one amongst a number of major life events that seem to trigger violence episodes. Taking a step back, I think everyone can agree that our country has a problem with violence... -
It would not have been good.

I find it hard to believe that the O2 levels were not submitted as evidence during discovery. And it's also strange that the prosecution expert testified about the theoretical possability of Carbon Monoxide poisoning without ever looking at C02 levels.

Anyone can use labels to dehumanize others, and it's way easier for power trippers to justify crossing the line when they've put the person they are about to dominate in a dehumanized "less than" catageory. The "less than" categories also explain why most white people don't care about most white people who get killed by police. They were criminals, or white trash, or mentally ill.

I saw both killings reported. The Dallas cops mocking Timpa were pretty sick. They continued making fun of him even while was in the ambulance, until the EMT let them know he was dead... They didn't think they killed him. The cop who shot Daniel Shaver was worse, imo. He was just itching to blow that poor guy away, and he did, while he was quivering on his knees. A cop with "you're *****" etched into his AR-15 is a pretty good sign that you're dealing with a sociopath.

Here's an interesting article on the subject: https://newrepublic.com/article/158400/cops-white-supremacy-black-lives-matter

I think attention to detail has slipped drastically as a result of pandemic mush brain and way too much screen time.

You have to be sadistic to buy that argument.

They used so much archival footage from so many sources, but a main source of footage around the Florence and Normandy area was filmed by a local resident and used to convict a number of people. As far as the jury goes, the trial was moved out of LA County into Simi Valley. The film does a great job showing the racial tensions at the heart of the decision. But imo, the acquital also speaks to the protection police are given by past Supreme Court rulings. When Powell and Koons testified that they were scared for their lives and thought beating him like that was the only way to avoid using deadly force, the law absolves them unless it is able to be proven that they are lying.

I'm pretty sure that mental illness and/or emotional instability was a driving factor that motivated many of the people who stormed the Capitol. As it probably was with many of the people who burned buildings to the ground during the BLM protests. I went on to clarify that no, I don't believe mental illness was the cause of death. While a bullet to the chest is quicker and clearer than a knee to the neck, it is a similarly absurd argument as saying the cause of death in George Floyd's case was his pre-exisitng heart condition and substance abuse and not the knee to his neck for almost 10 mins.

There are other ways to watch, but here is a link to a documentary about what led up to and happened after four LAPD officers were acquitted for using excessive force during the beating of Rodney King. Using only archival footage, this is as compelling as it is difficult to watch (extreme violence warning). I am praying that history does not repeat itself.

I get it. Criminals shouldn't be afforded the rights of citizens. And the police know who to target just by looking .

I think Ryan Bates is ready!

I'd say what she did, attempting to breach the inner Capital with 100's if not 1000's right behind her was a sad but reasonable justification for the use of deadly force. Shooting her right then may have saved lives that day.
-
I don't really believe mental illness is the cause of her death. The gun shot is...
-
She was clearly suffering from some form of mental illness that drove her to climb through a broken window into the inner Capitol chamber while federal agents pointed guns at her ordering her not to come through... And that's how ti works, right? Police don't kill people, people kill themselves?
-
Unfortunately her pre-existing mental illness was the cause of death.
