  1. You need to wear that while selling Christmas Trees in front of the stadium. https://talesfromtheamericanfootballleague.com/cookie-gilchrist-afl-entrepreneur/
  2. it was @RiotActthat brought up the short field scenario. I will admit I watched DVOA a bunch when it came out and I feel I'm fairly educated about it's calculations but I am not an expert at all. I haven't looked at them since about the middle of last season and I would be interested in their latest update (I believe you said tomorrow is an update). I would like to see how the rankings compare to the "standard" NFL rankings. If I got time tomorrow and don't paint my garage shop like I should I will throw out a thread comparing the two.
  3. True but DVOA is an attempt to break down a "play by play" adjusted stat against the norm. I'm not going to get into the pro's and con's of that. I do accept it's importance but not a lot of media or average NFL fan uses DVOA as a true ranking for talking points. I'm not criticizing DVOA but the general consensus today for ranking is "yards for or against". Comparing those against DVOA is about as extreme as you can get.
  4. Another good point. The problem is I don't think there is anything that reflects even the basics let alone what you just mentioned. I don't want to derail a weekly game thread on this kind of stuff but it just seems to me that so much relevance is given nowadays to "rankings" of all kinds but the details that go into the rankings are so poorly considered. As much as I feel yards for or against should not be the end all in ranking offenses and defenses a recent change in the "stats" on the official NFL.com site has removed the "Total Yards" for offenses and defenses. They have it only broken down in rushing OR passing. When that happened last year I was like WTF (or is WFT) is that about? It really has got to the point where to rationally try to do a ranking has becomes so much of an "eye test" because of a lack of true relevant data that I have ranted against these ranking to the point where poster criticize me for it. In todays data driven world it just seems idiotic. I'll get off my soapbox now. LOL. I will reiterate that you brought up a great "advanced stat" point.
  5. IMO it's stupid and just lazy statistics. Teams don't add kickoff and punt returns to the offensive rushing yards. It's no big thing but it does bug me. LOL.
  6. It does bug me that when ranking D statistics such as Points Against that Special Teams and Offensive scores against are included. If you are going to have all these statistics just use the points against the actual defense. I mean how hard can that be?
  7. Well if anyone on Detroit is going to bite a kneecap they better do it now.
  8. I know a thing or two about frugal Polish parents!
  9. Down 7 but no pressure Aaron.
  10. Geez, between the organization, the fans and the press that kid hasn't a ghost of a chance.
  11. There definitely seems to be a tweak in the way the front 6 are lining up and playing. I likey.
  12. OGM I was just going to post that!
  13. Yep. Point differential was big if I remember correctly.
  14. Pretty, pretty, pretty clear.
  15. They will want to sign him and will unless Edmunds and his agent want too much money. What that cutoff will be I don't know.
  16. It's a stupid world out there Hap. Mahomes brother acted like douche and he has to live with that. Entitled comes to mind. I somehow think Josh Allen will not find himself in that position with his brother Jason.
  17. True, but that only happens a couple of times a game if that. I agree when Madden got his job he was the King.
  18. I would imagine if stadium security seen that at a Bills game a person could be banned from the stadium.
  19. Buffalo Bills face their 1st 17th game opponent. Last years NFCE Divisional Winners. 17 is my lucky number. Bills are the better team but as McDermott preaches "hungry and humble" is needed to not look past this game. Go Bills!
  20. Thanks for posting. It's even funnier this time around now that I know what's coming! As to the debate over whether a color commentator should "explain" football or make me laugh..........I go with laughing. I've watched football all my life and know the rules and the game as well as anybody. "Yet another 'football player' left behind". LOL.
  21. He did. I think it might be more about only having 4 CBs. Maybe they are looking to even out the 11 DL now that things are looking up there.
  22. I did not know that. That is sad. LOL.
  23. I watch the games too and I watch the stats. Every Buffalo Bill starting OL player has had a holding call this year. Dawkins has 3. Should they bench the whole OL? My point is Williams is not a "penalty machine". I mentioned his False Starts he had yesterday but that is completely out of character for him. As a matter of fact from 2016-2020 he had a total of 9 penalties in 72 games (57 starts). That is pretty darn good. I say this because you may just have some bias due to yesterdays game. Maybe so?
  24. I have to ask where are you getting this? He had 1 Holding penalty this year and a total of 1 Holding penalty all of last year. In 2019 when he played in Carolina he had a total of 1 penalty all season (False Start) I will admit he needs to work on his False Starts. He had 2 in Miami.
