In many places in upstate NY the amount of testing has recently increased significantly, which may be the cause of the increasing numbers of cases. I have been tracking the number of hospitalized as a benchmark. I took down an above ground swimming pool and the deck next to it last summer. The deck rested on 20 concrete pilings that each stick out of the ground about 6 inches. I’m in the process of using some of the pressure treated lumber that was leftover from the deck demolition to enclose those pilings and make raised beds as a way to hide them. I’ll have flowers and vegetables. So far I know sunflowers and tomatoes. I’m not sure what else. I would like to grow lettuce and snap peas. The problem is the squirrels and rabbits. Squirrels are everywhere, and I can look out in my back yard and see 3 or 4 rabbits just sitting in the sun. There are probably more in the bushes. When I plant a vegetable, they eat it.
