  1. Alarm clock starts ringin' who could that be singin' It's me baby with your wake up call How do you like me now How do you like me now Now that I'm on my way Do you still think I'm crazy standing here today I couldn't make you love me But I always dreamed about living in your radio How do you like me now?!
  2. Several family members would be flying in from places too far to drive easily (Florida, Texas, Colorado), and they didn’t like the idea of air travel these days. Some of them are 65+ years old and feel particularly vulnerable. We had an opportunity to get our down payment back, so we voted to postpone until next year. We normally only get together for weddings and funerals these days. We were really looking forward to this reunion. In addition, my son is a nurse and lately some of his patients are covid positive. He would not have come if that was still the case in August.
  3. A weekend in the Catskills in April was cancelled. A sightseeing trip to Germany in July has been cancelled. A family reunion in Lake Placid in August has been cancelled.

  6. Good morning mister sunshine, you brighten up my day Come sit beside me in your way I see you every morning, outside the restaurants The music plays so nonchalant Lonely days, lonely nights. Where would I be without my woman?
  7. Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you But in your dreams whatever they be Dream a little dream of me
  8. My father in law is a Vietnam era veteran. He’s 85 years old. He served in Greenland, pushing snow around with a bulldozer. He has a lot of stories about the cold and primitive living conditions. Nobody was shooting at him, but it sounds like it was pretty harsh. He’s more of a Giants fan than a Bills fan, but he follows pro and college sports pretty enthusiastically. He can talk about the Bills pretty knowledgeably.
  9. The strategy on the final lap would make it a lot of fun to watch.

  12. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764?query=featured_home https://www.wktv.com/content/news/570720892.html Researchers have finally published the data that led the federal government to recommend the use of the antiviral drug remdesivir in very ill coronavirus patients, and they say the drug alone will not be enough to help patients. The data, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, show the drug shortened the course of illness from an average of 15 days to about 11 days. "Preliminary results of this trial suggest that a 10-day course of remdesivir was superior to placebo in the treatment of hospitalized patients with Covid-19," the researchers wrote. But it was not a cure and it did not act quickly. "These preliminary findings support the use of remdesivir for patients who are hospitalized with Covid-19 and require supplemental oxygen therapy," the researchers, led by a team at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, wrote. "However, given high mortality despite the use of remdesivir, it is clear that treatment with an antiviral drug alone is not likely to be sufficient," they added. "Future strategies should evaluate antiviral agents in combination with other therapeutic approaches or combinations of antiviral agents to continue to improve patient outcomes in Covid-19." Other teams are already combining antiviral drugs, including remdesivir, with immune modulating drugs in coronavirus patients. The NIAID says it has started a trial that compares remdesivir alone to remdesivir combined with the anti-inflammatory drug baricitinib, used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. The study also showed that it's important to start treatment early. "Our findings highlight the need to identify Covid-19 cases and start antiviral treatment before the pulmonary disease progresses to require mechanical ventilation," NIAID'S clinical research leaders Dr. John Beigel, Dr. Clifford Lane and their team wrote. Late last month, the federal government announced that the drug was helping and the US Food and Drug Administration gave remdesivir an emergency use authorization to treat Covid-19. The study's findings were considered significant because it was the first double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to test the drug in patients. That means some patients got no drug, and neither patient nor doctors knew who was getting the real treatment. But some critics complained that the data were not published and worried the federal government was rushing the results. The team tested 1,063 patients. They found those who got the infused drug recovered after an average of 11 days. Those who got placebo treatment took 15 days on average to recover. As previously reported, 7% of patients who got remdesivir died, compare to 11.9% given placebo infusions. But those results were not statistically significant. Patients who needed oxygen appeared to benefit the most from the drug, the researchers reported. "These findings support the use of remdesivir in this population, with the largest benefit observed among individuals who required oxygen supplementation but were not mechanically ventilated," Gilead Sciences, which makes the drug, said in a statement. "We anticipate that results from our Phase 3 SIMPLE-Severe study, which is evaluating remdesivir in a similar population of COVID-19 patients requiring oxygen but not on mechanical ventilation, will be published in the near future. These data from the SIMPLE-Severe study support treatment of some patients for 5 days rather than 10 days, depending on clinical status." Remdesivir did not cause an excess of side-effects and appeared safer than placebo, they added.
  13. My first car was my parents’ 69 Ford Ranch Wagon. That thing was BIG, based on the Galaxy with a 390 V8. They let me take it to college in my senior year (1979) so that they wouldn’t have to drop me off and pick me up. I should have kept it, but instead I bought a beat up 73 Toyota Celica with a 4 speed manual. Cute car, but not practical at all.

  15. I have fond memories of the station wagons of my youth. Ford also had three sizes of wagons: Falcon, Tempest/Torino, and Galaxy versions. Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge also had various wagons, bit I don’t remember their model names.
  16. An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky For he saw the riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry Yippie yi ooh Yippie yi yay Ghost riders in the sky

  22. I had a neighbor who was a fan of Lawn Boy mowers. They were small (because of the 2 cycle engine) and had that funky asymmetrical wheel arrangement with the grass chute toward the front.
  23. Look closely on top of this engine and you will see that there is a little metal lever that was the kill switch. You would slap at that lever and it would click over against the top of spark plug and create a grounding circuit to the engine block to prevent electricity from flowing, thus stopping the spark and stopping the engine. Whenever possible use your foot (assuming you are wearing shoes). Zap!!! That type of kill switch wouldn’t be allowed these days. I also remember using a screwdriver to short circuit the spark plug to the block if the engine didn’t have a built in lever.
