When healthy: we were the best team in the league.
BufBills83 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh boy, you just won the SB and now you're coming to this board and saying this isn't a championship-caliber roster when we were about 20 yards away from beating you. It is a championship-caliber roster. There is obviously going to be some retooling, which every team does every year, but the core is still in place to win a SB next year. QB, the entire starting offensive line, starting RB, 2 starting receivers, both starting TE's are all under contract next year. We need a couple WRs (FA and/or draft). On defense, we need safety and Dline. Four LBers and 4 CBs are under contract next year, as well as Oliver and Rousseau on the D line. Jones will prob be resigned. We'll be right there next year, trust me. -
Final in depth Salary Cap update by the Cover 1 crew
BufBills83 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't want to cut Morse either. I agree, the oline was greatly improved last year and keeping the same starting 5 will only help the line improve and be more consistent. -
How are there too many holes to fill? We need help at receiver, safety, Dline, and some depth. I want to draft a receiver early, and possibly a second one mid-round. I want to draft at least one Dline and 1 safety. It will depend on where the value is and who the Bills like on where these players are picked, but these are the positions I would like them to target. Possibly a center to take over for Morse in a year or two. For FA I would like a veteran brought in to help with the transition to the rookies playing more, a veteran safety, and maybe Dline. They would all be mid-range FA obviously, no high priced FA. The entire Oline is under contract next year. TE's are fine, RBs we can pick up a cheap FA or draft one in mid to late rounds. CB is fine, LB is fine as we get Milano and Bernard back.

I've agreed with pretty much everything you've said in this thread. Yes, in the moment when we lose to KC, everyone is upset, frustrated, me included. It feels like we'll never get past them in the playoffs. But the difference in these games is so close that one of these times we're going to score 1 more point than they do and we're going to get past them. I mean if you watch the divisional round game this year, what tells you that if we were to run it back with same quality rosters that we couldn't win it? If the two teams played 10 times, maybe KC wins 6 and we win 4? Maybe it's 5 and 5. KC certainly wouldn't win 9 or 10 times. I think the plan going forward should be to put more resources into offense and then get younger on defense. Our defense has been good but it doesn't seem to matter how good it is when we play KC in the playoffs. I want to draft 1, maybe 2 wide receivers, preferably with speed to help spread the field. Possibly draft a RB mid to late rounds that tough between the tackles runner that complements Cook. I want to run the oline back because they were very good and should be even better with more time together. TE's are fine. I don't want to ignore the defense, but I want to get younger and not pour a ton of FA money into it. Draft D line, safety. We're getting Milano and Bernard back who didn't play against KC. CBs are pretty good. Get younger and faster on D, add legit receiving threats on offense and I think we could certainly be better next year.

I guess all you guys should just skip next year then. The Chiefs are the best team in the league and with 2 mins left we were about 20 yards away from beating them. It's not like we're totally outclassed, far from it. The margin is so small that 1 or 2 plays go differently we win. I don't know why that doesn't invoke optimism that we can beat them next year.

Josh Allen the turnover machine
BufBills83 replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall
I almost feel like Josh gets bored sometimes in the regular season which leads to some of his turnovers because I can tell that once playoffs come around and the games are obviously very important, he seems to hone in and play better and not turn the ball over a lot. Like I could feel that he wasn't going to turn the ball over in these playoffs even though he had a lot of them this season. The only turnover he almost had was the fumble late in the KC game that we fortunately recovered. -
What's your confidence level going into the game today?
BufBills83 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is where I'm at. I expect a win and a loss would be unacceptable and catastrophic really. Also, if we were to lose somehow, we weren't going very far anyway. So either way I'm pretty calm about this one. Next week, however, will probably be different. -
Why is it so hard for fans to admit reality?
BufBills83 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the criticizing Josh for his interceptions is fine as long as it is put in context with the rest of his play. The media was really raking Josh over the coals this year about his interceptions but they would only focus on the raw number, not in context of why they occurred, or how many TDs he had, etc. -

If anything, they were unlucky, not lucky. -
Its not even remotely likely they miss the playoffs at 11-6. As I mentioned in my previous post, only 1 of the 13 games I listed has to go the opposite way I mentioned for us to control our own destiny, i.e. make the playoffs at 11-6. Thats why our probability to make it is greater than 99%. The chances of all 13 of those games' outcomes going that exact way is super low.
-
So I actually figured out the scenario that leaves the Bills out of the playoffs at 11-6. - Miami beats Dallas and Baltimore, and loses to Buffalo. Miami wins division at 12-5. - Baltimore wins enough games to win division, but loses to Miami. - Jacksonville wins division by winning out and going 11-6. - KC loses to Cincy but wins their other 2 games, finish 11-6 and win division. Those are the division winners. Now for the wildcard teams. - Cleveland beats Houston and Jets but lose to Cincy. Finish 11-6 and the 5 seed. - Cincy wins out. This makes them 11-6 and the 6 seed since they beat Indy. - Indy wins out, beating Atl, LV and Hou. Finish 11-6 and the 7 seed. - Houston loses to Cleveland and loses to Indy. This leaves Houston out of the playoffs at 9-8, but gives Cleveland and Indy needed wins to stay above us. So if Buffalo wins out and goes 11-6, if all these other things happen, we are left out as we lose out on tiebreakers. However, for this to happen, all of the remaining games have to have these exact results: Week 16: Jax beats Tampa, Cleveland beats Hou, Cincy beats Pitt, Indy beats Atlanta, Miami beats Dallas Week 17: Jax beats Carolina, Cleveland beats Jets, Cincy beats KC, Indy beats LV, Miami beats Baltimore Week 18: Jax beats Tennesee, Cincy beats Cleveland, Indy beats Houston So in total there are 13 games from week 16 to week 18 where if one of the results above go the other way, we control our own destiny. So we need 1 good outcome out of 13 games. Its highly improbable that all the games go this exact way. I can see Tampa beating Jax this week, Dallas beating Miami, maybe even Pitt winning. I can def see KC beating Cincy in week 17. There are a lot of possibilities for us to control our destiny.

You use every advantage possible to win. When the flag is thrown and we get 15 yards, none of us are complaining. I don't care how the optics look. I want a Superbowl. And actually, a lot of the ones that he flopped on were late hits. The one yesterday was late.

The weekly "most suspicious officiating moments in the game" thread
BufBills83 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are we seriously starting this thread? After we finally pulled a game out after having so many things go against us? I'll add one - Blatant missed DPI call on Diggs around 2 min warning in 2nd half. I didn't, so I apologize....egg on my face! -
Toney saved us from another Billsy moment…
BufBills83 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love how when the Bills make a mistake, its that the Bills messed up and lost a game they should have won. But when another team messes up, its "we got lucky we had a call go our way" They didn't call a PI on Diggs. I don't give an F Von was offside. -
Did everyone forget the blatant PI call on Diggs at the end? I didn't.
-
If its incomplete instead of an interception, and we punt, who's to say they still don't score?
-
Even if you did, like I have, you present this situation to someone, they take it 100%.
-
I see the Bills coming out after half and going down and getting points, probably a TD, to restore some order.
-
Before the game, if you said the Bills would be up 14-7 at half and get the ball to start the 2nd, everyone would say they would take that all day.

BufBills83 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean, McDermott made that speech in 2019 and none of us knew about it until this week. But there is no way anyone would have known he said those things the way the team continued to play for him in 2019 and beyond. They always play hard for him. People make mistakes. It was a big one, but you can't just bury the guy for one mistake he wishes he took back. Everyone needs to move on from it. 100% agree. Its weird to me right now how confident I am in this game. This to me is like a perfect storm game of being desperate for a win to get in the playoffs, coming off a bye, getting healthier, KC getting banged up, and wanting to take out frustration from the off-the-field stuff and just get back to football all coming together in the same week. We're going to lay it all on the line and I'm really excited for it. -

BufBills83 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah the last couple days I've been feeling super confident in winning this game. Must win game, we're super desperate, coming off a bye where our offense is starting to look better and we're healthier, along with some KC injuries right now. The off the field stuff doesn't help, but I can't help but think we are in the "darkness before the dawn" moments before the sun starts coming out on our season and we go on a long, successful run from here until the Superbowl, which would be so much fun and so gratifying. All the off the field stuff, starting 6-6, basically left for dead, to come back, play better and then go on a run, which we are certainly capable of doing. It makes me giddy with delight -
This is what I have been trying to tell people when they say he is turnover prone. Its all about the TD-to-INT ratio. I don't care if you are throwing 20 interceptions (I mean I do but you get my point lol) a season if you are scoring close to 50 TDs a year, which is a 2.5-1 ratio which is really good.
