Minus the fact that he's on IR I'd love to see Hoecht out there in that role. Didn't look it up but post suspension I think he made it two games before tearing something.

I think it was one. Jones got one late in the game. Bosa almost got there a couple times and Groot almost got there. Part of the problem is what ever combination they're using at DT is getting moved out so bad that Baker was stepping up and escaping pretty easily. I think they kept using Solomon up the middle on longer yardage pass plays and it was failing.

AJ got completely rooted on a big run to his side. Bosa might make a mistake as to where the run is going but he seldom gets washed out of the play. I'm not saying Bosa is great against the run but he's hit or miss. If he gets it right he can blow a run up. I also think AJ might have been on a snap count just coming back from the protocol.

Hoecht was great as a hybrid DT pasher. Solomon should not be coming up the middle. Stunt or no stunt he's an edge guy. Once an O lineman gets their hands on him he's neutralized.

I like all of this. I'm not sure Hancock is ready but I'm not saying he isn't either. The only problem is that even with these moves there's nothing stopping teams from creasing our Dline and ripping off big runs. They paid for Larry they used a fairly early pick on Sanders so they're going to be out there but I'm not sure Logue might not help us out more than either of them. I'm not happy about saying that.

If we got healthy I feel like this defense might actually be able to play some pass defense and then if we got a negative play here or there and puts teams in longer yardage on 3rd down we might get off the field. I'm not sure a McDermott/Beane defense is ever going to be great against the run. The combination of all 3tech DT's and small LB's is ripe for getting moved by any decent running team. We play defense like the Manning era Colts. Try to get a lead and force them to throw and make mistakes.

As much as people rant about WR's the thing missing from our game (that was there last year) was hitting RB's for big passes. If anything came back and made a big difference it was getting the RB's involved in the passing game. Not only is it a great mismatch for us but should also help the other pass catchers see more single coverage or soft zones.

I'm not a Coleman fan so don't take this as such but Allen missed him on two deep tosses last week. We hit the RB's for some big shots. Not sure the WR's did anything that out of the ordinary or special compared to any other week.

I know how enamored Beane is with pass rushing DT's but how bad does our run defense have to be before they try putting a DT that can't be shoved around all day on our roster? I'm fine with having a roster littered with 3 techs you think can pass rush but there should be at least one guy who can plug up the middle of the field.

When your defense is already down giving the other team the ball 3 or 4 times makes for games where you need 6 TD's. Look at our losses and tell me turnovers don't matter.

Allen's manic play is as large a part of our manic wins and losses as anything else. We turn the ball over multiple times and games are much harder than they need to be. Defense failed at a lot of things but they did get a couple turnovers and they may well have been the difference in the game even with Allen's 6 TDs.

For christ's sake. Bosa with the nothing burger on that one.

I'm going to put on my flame suit here but I hope they bring Logue in to sure up the DT's. We need someone in the middle who doesn't get pushed around.

Maybe there's some truth to the idea that we've run so much Allen has been out of rhythm. Maybe he just needs to come out and throw 40 plus passes to get back into his right head space.
