Thoughts on not making Anthony Lynn our HC?
jkeerie replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think with Lynn, we would have kept Tyrod. Presuming Gus Bradley was the D Coordinator under Lynn, we may have seen a similar result year one with the Bills. Chargers have had a ton of talent for years, but never had the right coaching combination. The offense put up a lot of points under Rivers, but they had to since their defense was so bad. There wasn't a lot to dismantle on that team. The Bills on the other hand never seem to have a cohesive plan on either side of the ball. -
Based on his first two games as a Bill and the fact that the Bills had 7 WRs on their roster, I can't say I'm that surprised.

No surprise. Now he should find something he's good at and make a living at it.

An Honorable Salute To Our TBD Veterans

No worries. In truth given this is a football forum, I would presume the odds are in favor of a predominantly male representation. You simply guessed wrong. ? -

Actually...it's "sister". My Dad used to joke, "I have three sons, but my daughter's a captain in the Air Force." -

I couldn't agree more. I served in the Air Force (7 yrs)...during peace time, and have such a high regard for those who have been put in harm's way, serving in combat areas. They truly deserve a special thanks. -
Week 10 Bills @ Jets first half thread

This team has heart. The fans may have given up on this team, but they will never give up on each other. That includes coaches. -
Week 10 Bills @ Jets first half thread

Barkley is playing competently. That's why the offense is working. The Jets defense has played well prior to today. Daboll is calling a good game. -

Why couldn't Lewis fumble when he was on the Pats? Nice pick just now by Titans DB. -
That was my point. The female voice doesn't resonate. Her vocal quality is a detriment...although I wouldn't call it "nails on a chalkboard." Marge Simpson is "nails on a chalkboard." Beth Mowins voice is dull...Sominex dull.
-
Speaking as one of the female contingent, Mowins isn't horrible...but the female voice doesn't resonate. Having said that...there are a number of male play by play guys that aren't very good either. There are some play by play guys that you absolutely love...Gus Johnson being one of my favorites. And no one since John Facenda has done NFL highlights as well.
-
And where are you going with this?
-
I would agree with this...and I would think that McD would have to be more guarded. He talks to the press on a more frequent basis. He also needs to come across as more even-tempered to avoid being overtly critical of his players and coaches. I would wager he is much more critical behind closed doors, or on the practice field.
-
I don't understand why anyone is so surprised. Beane and McD are stand up guys. They're not perfect and don't try to pass off to anyone that they are. They do admit their mistakes. One thing they won't do...one thing they shouldn't do...is throw anyone under the bus. If a player doesn't work out, if a coach doesn't work out, they simply move on and wish them well. They're adults...even when the fans behave like children.

TNF week 9: Final Battle of the Bay? The Bosa Bowl?
jkeerie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't say the Bill's offense is good. I'm merely pointing out that the Raiders are inept on both sides of the ball. It's not hard to look good against them. Likely Gruden will draft his replacement next year. Then all bets are off. -

The Raiders are so bad. I've switched to the Temple v Central Florida game. UCF is up 35-34, but Temple is driving. -

Look how much time he has to throw. He could knit a sweater with all the time he has. -

It's the Raiders. They're wondering why they can't generate a pass rush. -
Mahomes perspective - success not that easy to predict
jkeerie replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which argues the point that you cannot neglect the surrounding cast. Would Mahomes look as good on the Bears and Trubisky better on the Chiefs...given the receivers on each of these teams? Folks like to argue that Brady has always played with a bunch of "no names" and he makes them look good. Well...not discounting Brady's obvious talent...their offense was very ordinary this year until he got Edelmann back. It seems the great QBs have always had their "go to" guys to make plays. Kelly had Andre, Rothlesberger has Brown, Mahomes has Tyreek Hill and Kelce, etc. Again...I'm not discounting the obvious talent of these QBs, but the talent surrounding them does matter. -
McD - Allen isn't too far off in throwing again

It wouldn't surprise me if they bring Allen back after the bye week.
