Glenn is an average player who is overpaid and often injured, and the the only difference between him and Dareus is he's not making quite as much money and not a headcase. If we could trade Glenn for a player that could help us elsewhere like a starting LB or WR it would be foolish not to pull the trigger.

Yes but at least he took chances and was capable of regular 300+ yard games. Taylor's numbers have always been misleading because he rarely throws the ball more than 10 yards, although last week in Atlanta certainly give him credit for finding Clay downfield a few times. Most marginal NFL QB's can have success when your defense is playing at an elite level and allowing less than 13 points a game. Same reason why the Chiefs have won a lot of games in recent years with Alex Smith. Taylor is no better than he was the last few years, he's the same guy but his flaws haven't been an issue other than the Panthers game because we've been able to score enough points to win and hold other teams in check. But again, I maintain this is not sustainable over a 16 game season. At some point this defense will give up a lot of points and have a few bad games here and there and that's when Taylors glaring deficiences will once again be on full display.

Stats can be misleading especially when you are a running a very limited offense and not taking a lot of chances. Like I said, I give Taylor credit for not making killer mistakes and running an efficient, ball control type of offense. But let's see what the numbers look like when he has to throw the ball downfield for the Bills to come back and win a game. And if history has shown us anything the last 3 years he's not capable of doing that even with better WR talent around him compared to this year.

Most Bills reports have always been fair and given credit where credit is do. If the Bills lose this week though they will all pounce on this team and be right back into their normal critical mode. Jerry Sullivan is salivating at the possibilities sadly.

Some of his metrics have no doubt graded out well, but rarely has he been able to lead a team to victory when trailing both at home and on the road. But again in his defense I think what will come back and haunt this team later in the season and possibly prevent us from getting to the playoffs is not having adequate weapons at the WR position for Taylor or anybody else to work with. I get the 'process' but if Beane and McD truly believe they are making the playoffs this year there's no excuse to not make a move and upgrade the WR depth chart, even with Jordan Matthews healthy. The Chargers have several guys that could help us and other teams who aren't going anywhere this year could also have viable trade options.

Unless last night's game is a mirage, the Pats defense looked much better which puts even more pressure on the Bills to keep pace this week and beat the Bengals. With that said, it's amazing how teams seem to crumble when playing the Pats and if the Bucs had a decent kicker they might have still won the game.

For the record, at this time no longer believe we should make a QB change. I'm not a Taylor fan and still don't believe he's the long term answer here in Buffalo but he's doing his best right now with limited weapons around him playing the 'Alex Smith' role for the Bills. But again, does anybody truly believe he's going to be able to lead this team to wins in crucial games down the stretch? Especially when the defense struggles or has an off day? What happens when we are down 14 points or more because it's going to happen sooner than later even if the defense is sustainable. I just think at the end of the day this offense is truly 'smoke and mirrors' so to speak and eventually opposing teams figure that out similar to what happened in 2008 with Trent Edwards and that piss poor excuse of an offense.

Some experts believe Taylor's success is overblown and merely the product of the Bills defense being so stingy and keeping them in games. And quite frankly, it's hard to argue this so far: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/10/6/16433928/buffalo-bills-qb-tyrod-taylor-rick-dennison-sean-mcdermott-interceptions-limitations-problems

Spotlight on Rookie Matt Milano at WLB this Week
SaviorPeterman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Been reading up on Milano and most of the pre draft scouting reports were pretty consistent both in describing his projected strengths/weaknesses and projection as a late round pick. Here's one interesting read I found though about him being a potential sleeper pick: https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/05/05/nfl-draft-late-round-udfa-sleepers?xid=socialflow_twitter_si -
Bucky and Sully are drinking the happy juice...
SaviorPeterman replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Deep down Sully is hoping this season goes south ASAP so he can aggressively attack Taylor, the Pegulas, Beane, McD, etc. But in all seriousness, can't blame some of these long time local sports media. Just like the fans they are jaded and sick and tired of the same old story with this team and all also probably still skeptical of this team despite the fast start. -
Beating Bengals would be more impressive than last two.
SaviorPeterman replied to webtoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember 2011? We were sky high at 3-0 after a huge home win against the Pats, went into Cincy as big favorites and lost to Dalton's (who was a rookie at the time) Bengals. I don't think this will be an easy game at all. -
Anybody that's been around the last 17 years and is realistic about this team isn't 'throwing shade', they are simply taking a more cautious approach with this team and not easily seduced. Because no matter what way you slice it the ghosts of 2008 and 2011 loom large until this team proves they can sustain this, and if we lose in Cincy this week the criticism becomes that much louder heading into the bye week. Also we were 4-2 last year after an 0-2 start and we all know how things played out. I've said many times the real key with this team is whether or not they can be 6-4 or better after 10 games because they have not had that record since 2000 (the year of the drought). No problem in feeling good about things right now but this is truly a week to week league and things could change in a hurry especially if the injuries keep piling up.

Charles Clay Highest Rated TE in league
SaviorPeterman replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
About time we get our money's worth so to speak with Clay. But now that the cat is out of the bag, obviously opposing defense will start to key in on him which means Taylor is going to have to find another viable option in the passing game and I still think that's asking a lot given the current depth chart, especially with Matthews out for at least a few games. Personally I would love to see us look Nick O'Leary's way more because I do think he's a viable threat in the passing game and in 2 TE sets might be more open now with attention shifting Clay's way. -
All things considered, Manuel wasn't terrible as a rookie. And I do agree with Lee Smith in that he never should have played right away being forced into the starting lineup because Kevin Kolb was lost for the season in training camp. Some will also argue we pulled the plug on him too early in 2014 as well even though we were 2-2 at the time before going to Orton. But in the end, I still think Manuel is/was a huge bust where he was drafted and probably was more of a mid round prospect anyway. If he does go onto have success in Oakland or elsewhere though good for him.

NFL.com: Gregg Rosenthal's QB Index
SaviorPeterman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Tyrod really did single handedly keep us in the Panthers game? -
Yes because we'll be in the same boat we were last year record wise at 3-2 and heading into the bye week on a low note. Plus all the questions about depth and the Bills being a pretender will start. Bengals have been better lately but I don't believe they are a good team or going to the playoffs this year. And if the Bills have serious aspiration these are the games you have to win even if the opposing teams brings their A game and gives their best shot.

richie incognito "nothing to do here"
SaviorPeterman replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably true, and Incognito seems to have matured a lot since he was dumped by the Rams for also being a lockerroom cancer. He's definitely a leader here now and anything but a divisive force in the lockeroom. -
richie incognito "nothing to do here"
SaviorPeterman replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of fans might not remember, but when we picked up Richie Incognito back in 2009 for the final few games of that season he trashed Buffalo in the offseason calling it a dump among other things and pretty much had zero interest in coming back. That's why it was somewhat surprising we brought him back in 2015 but after being out of the league for a year because of the bullying incident in Miami I guess he didn't have many options. -
It's no secret I'm not a Taylor fan, and I still don't see him as the long term answer in Buffalo but I do give the guy credit the last few weeks bouncing back big time after a horrid performance in Carolina. Does anybody really believe he's capable of leading this team from behind in games as the stakes get higher in November and December? How about on the road in a playoff game?
