It started when the team named itself after a city that named itself after the buffalo. For those that don't know this is from an article I found: In many Plains Indian myths, buffalo gave themselves up willingly as a food source for humans, and therefore have a special position of honor and respect And this is why we have so many weird things happen to our franchise. We are commonly sacrificed for the benefit of others. Our miser and suffering has brought delight to literally tens of millions of fans, throughout the lands of places such as Dallas, Tennessee, New Jersey, Denver, Minnesota, all the way to Arizona and many places in between. As we have suffered we have become respected and loved across the land. Which is why our fortune hasn't changed much, but out TV ratings are up. Truly America's Favorite Team.

AJE Love Floyd but he's getting older and as durable as he's been, the older a body gets the more susceptible to injury not becomes. I also think on the open market Floyd would get a much higher contract and would return a decent comp pick.

So, the difference between a 1st place schedule and 2nd (if everything stays the same as of now) would be: Instead of the Chiefs coming to Buffalo, it would be Denver Instead of going to Baltimore next year we would go to Pittsburgh Instead of going back to Philadelphia next year we would go to Dallas Not sure it's that much better/easier a road.

Wholeheartedly agree. Which IMO leads to him NOT getting rid of McDermott this year and waiting until next if he falters again. Then he can sell PSLs off the hope a new coach will bring exciting new results. March in a whole new era so to speak.

Let me add a bit of realism to this fanfic. If you were Pegula, you would likely do none of that. What you would more than likely be doing is meeting with the accounting department. Checking finances. How much money did you make? Then you would base any decisions off that. To take it a step further, a Super Bowl title is way down on their list of top priorities. Would it be nice? Sure. To them though it's nothing more then temporary bragging rights over the other member of the billionaire club. This has always been the case. These pressers that Owners give about building championship teams is lip service. They sell an idea and we feed that cash cow. Things change when finances change.

Sort of. I feel like it buys McDermott an extra year and if he has another down year, it's the perfect time to hire a new coach and sell hope with those new PSLs. From a business standpoint, the worst thing that could happen is he replaces McDermott now, the Bills go 6-11 and he's locked in with nothing to promote.

At this point I feel like even if the Bills lose out McDermott will be back next season. The theme will be Brady is a step up as OC, they found a DC and injuries have healed. Losing now doesn't change that IMO no matter what the fanbase feels, right or wrong. The only way I see McDermott not back next year is if the locker room complete collapses (and despite what many "think" it doesn't seem like it's even close to that) or he himself decides to step away for health reasons or family reasons or just needs a year or two off which is highly unlikely.

Rodgers feels guilt over Wilson situation

They're going to run it back. In other words: The NY Jets have been eliminated from the 2024 playoffs already. -
Rich Eisen Loves him some Josh Allen!

I mean, this right here is the reason we could use a middle finger reaction emoji here. -

I'm starting to get uncomfortable with how much Romo loves Allen. It's almost gotten to the Collinsworth/Mahomes level. And Josh may need a restraining order. -

The Eagles run the play with their base set up. Which means if you put 8 DL out there they audible and set up Jordan Phillips trying to cover AJ Brown.

I've seen spots where teams do it and the kicker misses. Never had any coach, kicker or anything say it had anything to do with it. I've also seen times where a coach waits and calls the timeout just before the snap and the kicker misses the original and then hits the redo. All in all it's one of the more nonsense things in football IMO.
-
Mathematically, you are correct. Nothing is "over" and anything can happen. Realistically, though there are a lot of factors that have to go juuuuuust right at this point. Sure would be nice to win one of these "instant classic" games though, right?

Gee, if only there is a person or a set of people that could be held accountable for assembling a team that...as you say just isn't that good. Oh, wait there is? It's a GM and a coach! There...now you know! Have a fantastic Monday!

Oh no amazing point. So much fun seeing things like last night. And the Hail Murray. And 13 seconds. And the collapse at home against Minnesota last year. And the meltdown playoff game against the Bengals last year. And the dumb ending with the Broncos this year. And....should I keep going or are you having too much fun??? We have soooo many fun and exciting "moral victory" banners from the McDermott era. So so many. See, it's not all about what last night was. It's the cumulative failings of this team going all the way back...even before the loss to Urban Meyer...no even further back then that. It's ingrained in this team now to fall short. That's the defining theme of McDermott's whole tenure here.

FACTS: Bass missed FGs Josh threw a bad INT Cook dropped a possible TD Davis and Allen had the miscommunication Refs were ATROCIOUS. ALSO FACT: Even after all that, Josh Allen and the offense left the field TWICE in the final 2 minutes and OT with the lead. And our DEFENSIVE minded HC could not scheme up a stop. This was like a low budget sequel to 13 Seconds. Call it "20 Seconds: Electric Boogaloo".

Absolutely not.

I wasn't saying he has, and yes I'm basing what he may do off what he's showed his tendency is in the past. Who knows, he may surprise me if it came to that. You're correct though, he's never had the opportunity and we won't know for sure until he does.

10 pages in and I'm not reading all 10, so apologies if this has been said. Beane is not a bad GM. He's had some picks hit and had some miss. Free agency has been a mixed bag. He's league average IMO and you could easily do a whole lot worse. I do think he rolls the dice to find value on a player that he "thinks" may pan out (like Harty) over a guy that is established and more plug and play way too often. I also think he (and his staff) are better evaluating talent on player than finding player who fit. In that sense he's correct on the player but incorrect on their usefulness to us. Right now Elam may be a shining example of that. I'm also TERRIFIED of him having an opportunity to pick the next head coach (if it comes to that. One almost constant with Beane is his belief on going with what he knows rather than someone he's unfamiliar with. Could see that a TON in his player acquisitions from Carolina early in his tenure (which is common)...but he continues to do it. Examples are brining in the corpse of Beasley and Brown last year and Josh "107 year old" Norman this year. While I'm sure he would interview a bunch of people I have to believe based on his past, 2 guys that would absolutely get an interview would be Ron Rivera and, yes Leslie Frazier. He knows them, he's comfortable with them. And I think if he tried he could sell Pegula on the idea of Ron being a coach that has made a Super Bowl or Frazier already being familiar with the players. I like Brandon Beane, I just don't trust him enough in this spot to make a sound choice.

Missing Person's Report: Bills Edition
BuffaloBillyG replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, he's obligated to show up. He's not obligated to sit for as long as he does and offer answers. Case in point, ever see a Bill Belichick presser?😂 Also, I can't think of once where Sean has cut off a presser and stormed out or done anything but sit and face the questions asked. Sometimes you do get a "I respect the question but I'm not getting into all that". In addition to his post season presser, Beane normally does do one just after the trade deadline as he did this year. -
Bills took the best team in the NFL to OT…

Missing Person's Report: Bills Edition
BuffaloBillyG replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
When you own the team you need to do more than just hire people to outsource things to. As much as I feel McDermott is failing this team, he's the only one in management that has the balls to sit in front of reporters and face the music. Sure, he doesn't say a whole lot, granted. But at least he's on the firing line. Pegula and even Beane should be answering a LOT of questions right now as well. -
Missing Person's Report: Bills Edition
BuffaloBillyG replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm going to put Terry Pegula on the milk carton. While I don't want him to be Jerry Jones or Jim Irsay in the media everyday, some comments on this team this season would be really nice from ownership. Even if it's just to basically say "we plan on evaluating everything after the season". Something. Anything. -
Who should coach this team in 2024?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Declining in some aspects I agree. However the real fall out from that game to me was McDermott and Beane believing they were closer than they actually were and playing the "run it back" game instead of actively making changes to improve.
