  1. Hence why, as I said, I don't believe in the divinity of Jesus.
  2. As posted in another thread, well... what about the new video showing Obama in 1998 saying "I actually believe in redistribution." This is a conversation that Romney WANTS in the field. ANd it needs to be polished, sure. Move into that his economic policies are designed to get people back to work so they DON'T HAVE to collect from the federal govt to get by. But make no mistake --- there IS a sizable portion of this country's citizens whose families are in their fourth or fifth generation of food stamps, section 8, medicaid, et al., and beat feet to apply for whatever new free money there is, but won't do the same when it comes to getting a job. And this has been the case for far too long to blame it on this or that recession. It's a case of people being free riders and mooches on the system.
  3. Written at least 250 years after his death? Not that I give a hoot either way. Like. Thomas Jefferson, I don't believe in the divinity of Jesus or the supernatural parts of the Bible. He was a teacher whose legend was majorly trumped up by his students, and then, like the game of Telephone, the passing of centuries have only added to the confusion.
  4. New video surfaces. Obama at Loyola University in 1998: "I actually believe in redistribution." http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/325942/obama-1998-i-actually-believe-redistribution-katrina-trinko#
  5. I think the funniest line I've ever heard was Steve talking about meeting Vince Lombardi back in the day. He was speaking of this man very reverently while relating their meeting and then said he asked for an autograph from the coach on a picture. Sabol said that Lombardi handed it back to him and it read: "To Steve, A schmuck if I ever met one. Vince Lombardi" So much of what's on teevee is just passing time that you forget within ~ 45 minutes. I saw that on one of his NFL Films presentations and, hey, it's still in the memory bank. RIP Mr. Sabol.
  6. See, if you were asking for TBDers in the Albequerque area.... [cue "Crystal Blue Persuasion"] I still don't get why the dude can't package it for you himself, especially if it's someone you know. Do you not want him to know that you're buying from him? Present for him or someone he knows? My brow is just furrowed here....
  7. And then you have to bear in mind that this was against the Kansas City Chiefs.
  8. On my ipad, you have to click where it says 'Shout Box' on the title bar. That will take you to a full screen of the shoutbox, so you lose access to the rest of the page, but just open it in another tab.
  9. Mark Steyn : An Act of War, Not a Movie Protest
  10. Do they not have Post Office delivery there? Get on the horn and ask him to put it in a box. What's the prob? Or... is this "item" cut up leaves with a high THC content?
  11. Gailey ought to be feeling some heat. But it's probably too soon to be BBQing him. This roster still has major holes. If Fitzpatrick plays all year the way he played at the end of last season and last week, it's time to cut bait and if Gailey / Nix are STILL adamant that Fitz, Pretty much everyone here would be on board with blowing it up. But especially if they go in another direction at QB and stop bitching and moaning about not being in the right spot to draft/get a true Franchise QB and just !@#$ing do it already, I would be satisfied enough to give them another year or two. As quickly as he canned Trentative Edwards, it's hard to fathom how he's going to stick with Fitz at this rate. And yet he has. Fitz is a GREAT guy; but it's becoming clear that he can't even be a mediocre serviceman QB. Assuming the Bills have a terrible year.... We're left with the same situation --- who the hell would want to come here? No established, experienced coach who has ANY other option at a job in the NFL will touch Buffalo with a ten foot pole. You can argue one-of-only-32-jobs-in-the-world and you'd be wrong. Like it or not, Chan was the best we could get last time. Another few years on an owner who has one foot in the grave isn't likely to help here. No one wants to go into a situation like that. Super Mario or not, we are the dregs of the league. Don't expect a Reggie-White-signing-in-Green-Bay-like turnaround. Wannstache would not be taking over at HC. One, he and Chan are friends. And two, I don't want him at HC. It would probably be a talented OC/DC hire again. And then he'll blow the whole thing up making it "his" team and we'll be right back at square negative five.
  12. Yep, yocash old do depreciation research on the MacBook, but on the face of it, I'd say that it's probably a good swap (you'll also stay out of paying taxes, as if Malloy needs more of our money to piss away). The prices on teevees have come down LOTS. For what I paid 900 clams for a 40" in 2009 you can now get better specs for like 600. We cut the cord for cable/sat ~20 years ago now and do antenna-only free teevee, heavily PBS, and since we upgraded with the HDTV, Netflix.
  13. Followed by breaking news that Coach Calhoun is retiring from UConn. Wow.
  14. You don't have to *believe* it. They were. I don't have the article offhand, but I remember well thinking what a nice, forgiving, and friendly Catholic Church administration they have at BC.... !@#$ing bastards! But the ACC desperately wants a presence in the NYC-and-environs market, and UConn offers that. Our games are on the SNY network, have the track record at MSG in the Big East tourneys, we recruit HEAVILY in that market, and there are LOT$ of UConn fans in Fairfield County.
  15. Well, BC would be one of their ACC conference games.... So this essentially makes it 15 in the ACC. Uconn's really gotta push NOW to be that magic 16th. Gotta get out of the Big East. It's dying.
  16. Wow. Stop posting in this thread unless you've got something that's even remotely on the topic of Bob Woodward's book and/or the debt deal. Word is that Moody's has a negative outlook and will join S&P's decision to downgrade America's credit rating if no debt deal is in place by the time of the so-called "fiscal cliff" on 2 January. Link. At this point, the sides seem to be dug in. Boehner said he had the votes at spending cuts and $800B in tax increases, but who knows about that now. Will Obama keep his new goalpost at $1.2T or move it even further?
  17. Yeah... how 'bout this thread.... If you wanted to tempt Fate a little more, why didn't you ask how much the Bills would win by?
  18. Why don't you just save a lot of eye strain and cut to the part where you mouth a shotgun barrel or take a bunch of pills? This is what we're stuck with. !@#$ing deal with it!
  19. Ohhh... you had to do it, right? You had to tempt Fate! There's now an 83 percent chance that we lose directly owing to the Wildcat. Don't tempt Fate!
  20. You are truly divine, Bill!! (Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised for LMc to get like 6-8 INTs this year as a nickel DB, sign with someone for huge coin to be a starter, and then go back to simply being able to "stay with" WRs. We'll see if he's one such of those "contract year players" that plague so many teams --- our Bills not the least of all!
  21. PPP101 --- When ya don't like the implications of a discussion, start a tangent and maybe the whole conversation just drifts away and no one will see the dookie that Obama left on the floor....
  22. There's now confirmation that Obama got 100% of what he wanted. And then he wanted more. Bait-and-switch isn't a very good negotiating tactic. In fact, it's virtually guaranteed to fail. Which is what Obama wanted so he could have a re-election narrative of a 'do-nothing Congress.' The reported $800B in new taxes wasn't enough to ask from Tea Party freshmen who had been elected on this core of cutting spending and reducing taxes?? For this president to come out and try to demonize congress / Republicans / Tea Party, saying they wouldn't budge or weren't willing to compromise to get a deal and avoid default is beyond the pale. Just further cements that Obama and the WH wear the blame for the credit downgrade.
  23. Woodward Book: Debt Deal Collapse Led to 'Pure Fury' From President Obama In accordance with what was written in the NYT story some months after the breakdown --- that a deal was essentially in place and Boehner had the begrudging votes of the freshman Tea Partiers to a mix of new taxes to go along with spending cuts / entitlement reform --- Bob Woodward's latest book is painting the picture of a White House and president who 1) Didn't know what the hell they were doing and 2) When the administration's original objectives were reached and Boehner had the votes, Obama moved the goalposts and wanted more --- 150% more --- taxes. This just further underpins the notion that this WH is rudderless and completely engaged in ideological, divisive power plays rather than having any sense or willingness to address the debt ($16T now) and what is coming down the pike in the form of the entitlement tsunami. Would've loved to be a fly on the wall when the Democrat congressional staffer rebuked Obama to his face in the Oval about the WH not having a Plan B to avoid default.
  24. I wonder if Obama is again going to promise to close GITMO....
