  1. 1) It wasn't a cheap shot. Ungentlemanly, yes; Welker should have just steered JL out of bounds to take him out of the play. 2) It sounded much worse than it really was. That was the sound effect of plastic hitting plastic about 2 feet from the mics.
  2. Also, it probably helps to not have the Triple Reverse Halfback-Option Fleaflicker blow up in the backfield.... and the whole Blitz First, Blitz Second ... Blitz Last thing.
  3. And was that "The Rest of Me" by Ex-Mr. Jessica Simpson playing on the PA at PeePee Park? How is that boo-hoo-fest a football song?!?!
  4. That was the model Hitler used to deflect any criticism that the Nazis' extermination of the Jews would be remembered by anyone. ----- So the Pope apologized a couple of days ago, saying that he was sorry for the reaction the remarks caused. Note his words, which I admire for their backhandedness. Sorry for the reaction. Sorry that some people are so fvcking stupid that they react over nothing. The Islamics' 'Well I NEVER!!!' reaction to a comment that they infer as saying their religion is evil and spread by the sword.... is to say they will attack the Vatican and butcher the Pope. And round and round it goes.
  5. No, that's 'Morman Love.'
  6. You must not have seen the Head-On headache reliever ads.
  7. IIRC, after three years of TD, the only player on the roster that didn't have TD's fingerprints on him was EM. Glad to see that Marv doesn't have that need for 100% of the credit, as if that matters, and no hesitation to drop Name Players whose skill set just doesn't fit what we're doing. With the emphasis on the run yesterday, I can see we're back to Buffalo Bills football. Bring on the Jets, and bring on the throwback jerseys!
  8. For a guy who's making $7M, Nate has nary been heard from in these two games. The only time I saw him yesterday was when he got dragged by the ballcarrier on the 3rd & 4 play. I guess the argument could be made that not hearing his name is a good thing. The D played lights-out yesterday and some credit is due, but how much? Look at McGee making plays all over the field, helping in run defense.... Nate has become our de facto #2 CB. Playing it safe to avoid injury before he hits the market? If he can't step it up a notch when he's playing for a contract, what does he do when a fat contract makes him a little complacent? If his season keeps going the way it has, he certainly won't be back here for the kind of jack it would take to sign him.
  9. Dunno. I remember a Culpepper drubbing in Minn. when he ran all over our supposedly solid D.
  10. Meh. Not in the Quiet Corner. There are about half a million reasons I can visit family in WNY, but I'd never want to stay for more than a week. Not least among these is that unlike the sulphur wells there, at least I can drink water from the tap here and take a shower w/o gagging.
  11. Half from Column A, half from Column B. The self-flagellation, men openly sobbing, shouting, gunfire, etc. at their funerals is all one needs to see that these are cultures rooted in over-exaggeration so they can outdo everyone else's grief, anger, whatever.... 'No one loved Ahmed as much as I did! I'll whip and martyr myself to prove it!' The pope should not apologize, but he probably will. He should recite a list of all the death and destruction, since he mentioned the *quotation* and say, "You proved the point!"
  12. Well stated. For those of us who simply "root for the laundry" for this reason... we want that laundry to not look like sh--.
  13. Some links just released today.... Princeton's security analysis of the Diebold machines Hack the vote? No problem. Wow.
  14. Garrison Keillor's take.
  15. Was it a simulateous injury?
  16. Then there was "Rob Johnson (rear)."
  17. I'm not shedding any tears. !@#$ing bribers and defectors!
  18. Common occurance in my house to be down in the basement and suddenly have the lights go off. Which always elicits a, "Hey Lyndon! Turn the light back on!!" (LBJ used to turn off lights all the time....)
  19. The reason for having numbers --- so viewers and fans can identify a player --- is lost when the numbers are as small as that. Same placement of the C or A, but those are special, determining role by placement and b/c they're there, you know exactly what it means --- this guy is a team captain. And it begs the question of where the C or A will go now? As jersey numbers, it's just going to be a splotch of yellow on anything but close-ups of players. Colors are great. Logo and design sucks. Front Office knew full well what the vast majority of fans wanted, yet they delivered this. Needless to say, I won't be getting any merch with this thing.
  20. Sttthhhh-thhhufferin' Thhucatash! Dan Dierdorf, the biggest Dolphag homer in broadcasting.
  21. I can see that, of course. It replaces one problem with another that some people think is easier to control and contain. But, enter the phenomenon of God laughing at mens' plans. I think it was Newton who said that as time goes on, the breakdown and conversion of energy spirals things more and more into chaos. I'm pretty sure he was talking physically or chemically, but in another sense you could argue socially too. An interesting aside.... My uncle was a nuclear engineer at the CT Yankee plant. My dad worked in an industrial supply warehouse. So one day, my uncle calls and asks if my dad has an EZ-Out for drilling out a bolt.... My dad says, "Sure. What size bolt do you need it for?" Uncle: "Uhhh.... three feet." Dad: "Mmm... lemme get you a phone number!" One of the bolts holding the reactor core broke. They had guys swimming around in the coolant water. Guess what they died of....
  22. Here's the answer to your problem, man.
  23. Like Yucca Mountain? I don't disagree about nuclear --- indeed, it's the most efficient answer to our future energy needs --- but the problem of waste isn't as small a problem as you're making it out to be. Everybody says NIMBY, and how can you really blame them?
  24. Commendable for them to not switch, even with the fine, b/c they couldn't ensure a smooth transition. Accuracy of vote counting is much more important. Wonder tho, that this arbitrary deadline resulted in $1M fine when TV stations that dragged their feet on the analog-->digital signal switchover got a 3-year extension from Congress. But, what does comfort level have to do with the common sense idea of having the voting machine print a receipt of the vote, the voter can verify that it is correct and then drop it in a box as a backup in case something goes wrong? Gas station pumps can do this and voting machines can't? In my town, we still use pull-down lever voting booths from the 1940s. But then, this is the Land of Steady Habits.
  25. Someone should tell Spikes to stay in his lane. The SamLB is not the GM. Vive le difference.
