  1. My favorite part of today.. if any of these guys have any self respect, they heard the media (correctly) blaming them and McDermott for holding Allen back. It’s as if a national media dam broke today and everyone, all at once, realized how all time great he is, resulting in the display of utter disdain for our big game defense and coaching.
  2. I doubt they play it the same way, up 2 at their 30, us with 3 TO’s … they would’ve tried to end it with Stafford. Regardless, we’ll never know. And to the other comments in this thread, if you watch the replay Josh clearly makes an annoyed remark about a timeout walking towards the huddle.
  3. Hence the biggest non-coaching difference between the Bills and Chiefs being Chris Jones. We don’t have that one guy that can just end a drive. And sometimes that’s all you need in these games… See, Dawkins getting walked into Allen as Shakir broke open in the end zone, pass incomplete, missed FG, game.
  4. Populist right wing tech bro about to Tedpill an entire generation of 4B liberal feminists that swore off men after this past election..
  5. Great post. It was shocking to see how bad our healthy defense was yesterday. We almost got to a point where I had pushed the idea of this happening out of my head as long as we stayed healthy. Even if we snuck out with a win, I’d be happy and glad we’re still in striking distance for the 1 seed, but I can’t unsee what I saw. In some ways, getting the Lions immediately is a blessing as it gives us a chance to put this game behind us, prove we can slow down a great offense and keep the pressure on KC to win at least 2 of 3 against playoff teams. If we can’t slow them down, well at least we know what we’re dealing with in the playoffs and the offensive gameplanning should be done accordingly. I don’t think there is an offense remotely close to Rams/Lions in the AFC (aside from the Bengals), but every QB we face is going to be someone who has shown he can go off any given game this season.
  6. Pretty universal frustration at what surrounds (and has surrounded Allen) for the past few years today. From Orlovsky to Brandt to McAfee to Eisen, the entire football world seems completely fed up with games like this happening in Buffalo. "IF" if happens again in the Playoffs, it's going to be ugly.
  7. @ Browns Texans @ Steelers @ Broncos I still see a path where KC goes 2-2 in this stretch I very much see a path where they lose 1 of the next 3, which would come down to a potential L to the Broncos giving us the 1 seed if we win out Would I bet on it, no way.. but that's not an easy schedule, especially if the Broncos are playing for their playoff lives final week of the season in Denver.
  8. Seems like Defense and Coaching failures like to intertwine... Defense was DEFINITELY the issue yesterday, above coaching failure. And that's saying something with how McDermott handled the end of game situations. We forget, but we were about to put Baltimore on the ropes and cut it to a one score game in the 3rd Quarter until Brady called up the dumbest trick play imaginable which ended the game and almost got Allen killed.
  9. Silver Lining is nobody in the AFC has the equivalent of Stafford/Kupp/Nacua and a strong running game. Maybe the Bengals, but they likely aren't making the Playoffs. Only tactical decision I might make moving forward is making Elam gameday active.. At the very least we could give him a shot in press man coverage if this situation arises again.
  10. Elam better be active moving forward, regardless of Rasul's health. We need that man cover bullet in the chamber, if needed.
  11. Basically said that this is the type of game that really gets Bills fans on edge.. A game where we come away saying "We have 17, how do we not win every game" and "What more can Josh Allen do?" Prefaced by saying this doesn't mean the Bills won't win the Super Bowl, we very well might, but God forbid, we don't want to look back at this era and say that Josh Allen was unbelievable, but they just could never get it together around him.
  12. Because we started loading the box and sending run blitzes to stop their run game. And against teams without a great passing game, that can be enough.. but when we face teams that can run and pass at a high level, this is often the result. Luckily, there's not a lot of teams that can do that... Unfortunately, the teams that can, typically make the Playoffs.
  13. I'll see if I can find it to link later, but Kyle Brandt was phenomenal on GMFB about what happened yesterday, and what continues to happen in big games/big moments with JA/Bills Defense/McDermott.
  14. After sleeping on it, I realized that the past few seasons when our defense looks like a wet napkin in the playoffs, we always had a built in excuse… injuries. And it’s been valid. We’ve had horrible injury luck going into and in the playoffs, especially in that side of the ball. Theres no excuse yesterday. We were as healthy as we’ve been all year. I guess we can say that maybe Smoot comes back and Milano/Carter shake off rust and get better down the stretch? That’s it, that’s all I’ve got. One of the worst defensive performances in years and we don’t even have a valid excuse this time.
  15. How was it meaningless? Do you mean to tell me that we have a defensive HC and a healthy defense, and with 3 timeouts and a minute left, down 2… we had zero chance to get the ball back?
  16. Depends.. the norm relative to the season, no.. outlier. The norm relative to teams with good QB play that have strong coaching and a balanced offense? Yes.
  17. Pretty close to just saying priority 1 this offseason is extend Cooper and Shakir, while bringing back Hollins and Ty. With the OL and other existing contracts on the books, that’s basically our entire starting offense plus depth. (I say this thinking Cooper would take a 2 yrs/30M from us)
  18. Even Benford though.. Chiefs didn’t pay Snead. Does Benford take away his side of the field? He didn’t today. That’s the only way I’m paying huge money to a corner. Bernard is small and gets injured often. Rousseau is above average at everything, with more potential, but doesn’t wreck a game. IF this defense folds in the playoffs, I think Rousseau and Bernard are guys we should take back at our price point.. and if they walk eventually, fine. Benford, I honestly don’t know.. just keep drafting corners and coach them up. At some point McDermott being a defensive guy who has a stellar track record with secondary players has to come into play given all we sacrifice to not have an offensive guy.
  19. We’d have two AFC/two NFC losses. If they lose to an AFC team as their sole loss, they’d be 3 AFC/1 NFC.
  20. I think he still has potential, but I honestly wouldn’t care who we let go on this defense if they do this again in the playoffs. I just feel like at a certain point, it’s time to blow it up and even see if a guy like Oliver has any offers in a trade. Probably even follow the Chiefs model of letting corners walk. Benford and Douglas might as well have been Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace out there today. Hopefully this isn’t a conversation we need to have.
  21. True, would it make a difference who their loss is to? If we both go 3/4.
  22. Which would mean we just need to sweep the Pats and beat the Jets. EDIT: Just read that if we both win out, Steelers are 2
  23. Steelers finish with Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs and Bengals. Do you mean 1 seed? Because that’s accurate as the Chiefs could lose two games.. they won’t, but they will probably go down to the wire in all of them.
  24. Bills Defense needs a gamewrecker, but we never draft high enough to get one… so we either need to get lucky, or McDermott needs to figure out how to make due without a Chris Jones. If the Defense pulls this again in the playoffs, I don’t know how you pay anyone on that side of the ball except Rousseau and maybe Bernard. Extend Cooper and Shakir, bring back Hollins and Ty.. Offense is set.. and then draft replacements for a bunch of guys on Defense next year.
  25. People saying it doesn’t matter because we couldn’t stop them with 3 timeouts anyway is the same loser energy of absolving Bass for missing a 40 yard FG to tie up the Divisional Round Game against KC. Anything can happen and we clearly now, two years in a row, seem to think our Defensive HC has zero ability to get a stop at the end of a game if the QB isn’t Tua. McDermott could’ve went over the headset and said “what’s our best play and remember we cannot burn a timeout” Someone, somewhere in the chain of command, needs to realize you cannot call that play there.
