I will say.. if 12 personnel allows us to run and pass in an extreme weather game, get the W and move on.. I’ll certainly have a high opinion of the FO for seeing how last season ended and making sure we have a team that can adapt to any conditions that could arise come Playoff time. And given the fact our Road to the Super Bowl will consist of 3 games in Buffalo or 2 Buffalo / 1 Baltimore, the conditions could require what they preached .. the ability to run the ball in January and have a varied passing attack.

I would counter that when McDermott can make a team one-dimensional, he’s usually very effective. I’d go back to the Ravens Playoff game where they were the team with the run game advantage but couldn’t really do much of anything. That being said.. if we struggle to score, all it takes is a turnover in a bad spot or missed gap and we’re chasing them. We also are a middling run defense because McD prioritizes defending the pass. There really isn’t a reason a DL consisting of Joseph, Oliver, Jones, Rousseau, Floyd and Lawson shouldn’t be dominant against the run if they want to be. ….but they’re going to have to be, especially if Dodson can’t go. I think we all know this is a huge advantage for the Steelers if the conditions severely limit our passing attack.

Perhaps. If I tell you the the teams have been told it’s status quo for the 1 pm game. or teams have been told it’s status quo for the 1 pm games… Which makes you more certain? Im not sure the league wants to draw attention to a State of Emergency being usurped for a football game, God forbid anything tragic were to happen as a result.

The fact Schefter addressed this means contingency plans are in place. Whether the “status quo” changes, we shall see. I tend to think it’s 90/10 we play at 1 pm Sunday, but Schefter posting about our game, both tweets, puts some doubt in my mind. Especially with the ominous “….” at the end of his post.
