Same. As a kid, I honestly didn't even know there were Bills fans who supported Johnson & wanted Flutie benched. Not an exaggeration, I thought it was just understood he was a mistake
-
Of my life time, and which I vividly remember, these are my top 5 (in no particular order): 1. vs Patriots 2011 - Finally get some revenge, start 3-0, Fitzmagic in full swing 2. vs Patriots 2003 - Home opener, 31-0 shutout, beautiful 3. vs Oilers 1993 - Greatest comeback in NFL history, need I say more? 4. vs Jaguars in 1998 (I think) - They were undefeated, Flutie was still trying to prove he was the man, runs it in himself for a TD to win the game 5. vs Patriots 2022 - 7 TD's/7 Drives in the playoffs. Pristine performance. So yeah, my list uh... has a pattern. Handful of wins against the Patriots through 2 decades of futility stand out, though in my defense, there weren't many standout accomplishments pre-Josh for 17 years. Sadly, about 2 dozen awful games came to mind while trying to think of these. My Bills memories begin during the Redskins SB, so I can't vouch for anything further back than that.

I'm confident the Bills are a good team, but I'd be lying if I said I'm more confident now than I was after the Chiefs loss. After that run, it was clear our offense was on fire & Josh was just as capable as anyone in the league. Next post-season we just beat the Chiefs & all good. But man has the AFC become far more competitive. Even our own division stands to be a good bit better. The great young QBs everyone talked about last year all will be better, but now we have SB-level vets joining strong teams, and DeShaun Watson back, only now he's on a strong team too. So Bills will still be good & can beat anyone in the league, Josh is still great, but the landscape they're competing in took a huge leap in difficulty.

2022 Free Agency - Around the NFL Thread
BigDingus replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sanders had a very prominent role until he was hurt. Had he stayed healthy, it looked like the chemistry between him & Josh was amazing. Hell, people on here were actually getting annoyed he overshadowed Beasley, Davis & even Diggs at times. If I were him, I'd be down for that role. Only problem is I don't think he's capable of that anymore, at least not as like Sanders. -
Definitely true. The cap getting a huge increase will help dramatically. Hopefully Diggs will be wanting to stay in Buffalo & not pull a Tyreek, leaving behind a great QB & contending for SBs in favor of just money. Obviously making more money is important, but being a key member of a good organization that contends for SBs seems more enjoyable than wasting away on the Jets or Texans or something. $25 million/yr on the Jags vs $19 million/yr on the Chiefs/Bills/Bucs/Rams/Bengals.... seems like a no-brainer to me.

I don't remember him leaving on bad terms, but going to the Patriots is what hurt. For a while, the Bills just felt like a DB farm team for other teams to loot once they developed. I wouldn't mind Gilmore back, just wouldn't expect anything great from him.

Let’s give Antonio Brown some Million Dollar love.
BigDingus replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
The fact he has to "wonder why" is precisely the reason... 🤣 Until his dumb a** can reflect on his own fault & accept some responsibility, he'll never get more than a 1 year, prove-it deal by a desperate team again. Oh, now that I say that, sounds like a perfect fit for the Browns -
Josh back working with Palmer..
BigDingus replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel personally attacked! Jk, but I did used to point out the lack of 300+ yards games from our QBs was a sign we didn't have a good one yet. In a league with rules that favor passing, we were lucky to average 200 passing yards. Funny how when Josh took his giant 3rd year leap, we see those 300 & even 400 yard games now. It's just so very, very nice to be one of those good teams again 😁 -
Gronk signs with Bills for veteran minimum

I hate April Fools... Keep seeing a ton of "Diggs to demand a trade" rumors, and I have no idea if it's a joke, or real 😵💫 -
Wouldn't it be more amusing if there was a Missouri City in Kansas to balance it out? Shove the Chiefs over there instead.

NFL Teams mandated to hire minority coach as offensive assistant
BigDingus replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look, I think rules forcing an arbitrary number of minorities to be interviewed/hired/whatever is dumb too, but I wouldn't worry about "oh no, what if they're not qualified enough?" as some people are bringing up. First off, it's just one position on the entire staff, and an ASSISTANT at that. Then when you factor in that nearly 75% of the NFL's 1,700 active players are minorities, surely many are qualified for a position as an assistant, just as the thousands more of retired players interested in coaching could be. Lastly, we all know being best qualified & pure merit isn't how it works anyway. How many assistant coaches & even coordinators are just sons or direct family of coaches already? Clearly, just having a spot on a staff opens up an entire new world of opportunity for these guys by getting their foot in the door, so that's likely what this rule is hoping to promote. Doesn't mean I like it, but half these guys would just as easily hire a potato for an assistant if it had their last name. -
I mean, I can understand being excited about getting Hill, but yeah... 4 TD difference isn't going to happen. Then again, I have no idea what they've done on defense this offseason, really haven't paid attention to them. Brian Flores also had a knack for getting his team to play hard even when losses were piling up. Don't see them being able to hold it together as well if they start going on big losing streaks.
-
Definitely true. Also, didn't he make a couple Pro Bowls too? I honestly don't think it would've mattered overall though... Sure, there's many drafts we can look back on during those years & see the better players we could've drafted, but had we kept all the same QB's, it wouldn't have changed much at all. At best, we would've had a few great players that wasted away some of their best years in a division the Pats were going to win for nearly 20 years...

Joe Buscaglia's 7 round Bills Mock draft (paywall)
BigDingus replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just one of these drafts I'd love to see an O-linemen drafted early. A great o-line can boost all facets of our offense & help Josh, the run game & pass protection. It's always so hard to evaluate our RBs or poor Josh performances when a middling O-line gets pushed around. I honestly feel the Cowboys would be a bottom tier team if not for having a strong or dominant line so many years. They have down years here & there, but overall they make Dak & Zeke look way better than they really are. -
Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
BigDingus replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obviously that couldn't happen... the NFC GM's are asleep at the wheel this year 🤣 -
2022 Free Agency - Around the NFL Thread
BigDingus replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dunno if any QB's are worth taking in the 1st round this year, at least not early. Might be better take a flier on one a bit later, or just to stock up on picks & wait for next season. -
From Dawg Pound to Bills Mafia - Browns Fans Leaving for the Bills
BigDingus replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Big Ben got called names & had r*** jokes thrown his way his entire career over one public incident, so how does one just ignore the MANY women & dozen+ charges levied at Watson? People don't tend to overlook THAT many similar allegations. At some point, it feels like benefit of the doubt has been thoroughly burned. -
Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed
BigDingus replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tbf he was amazing even in the 3-13 year, but the incompetent organization kept steadily dismantling all this help & relevant teammates... 70% completion rating with 8.5 yards per completion is insane, and every other QBs in history who pulled it off won the SB that year. Watson went 3-13. That speaks volumes to how bad that team was. So unfortunately, it looks like the AFC is stuck with another great QB. -
As long as Knox can stay healthy, this is all upside in my eyes! He's not being asked to be the #1 guy, he's not being paid a ton, and he's got 1 year to earn a new contract. So even if his track record suggests he's likely to get injured again, the Bills will get his best for at least some time. Knox will still be here, Diggs will still be here, Davis will still be here, etc. & if OJ's around for the playoffs, it's just one more redzone threat.

Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
BigDingus replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
$120 million for 6 years?! Better not be much of it guaranteed... Edit: I'm definitely excited, it's not MY money they're spending, but wow... doubtful any other team offered him anywhere close to that, so no wonder he chose the Bills. Isn't this more than we paid for Mario Williams in his prime? -
McKissinc changes mind, returning to Washington
BigDingus replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't even know he agreed to sign in the first place, is it too late to act excited first & then get upset? -
Tbf, good free agents would sign with the Pats for next to nothing when Brady was there. Now it seems like the Chiefs & Rams are the ones free agents flock to for cheap.
-
Sit him all season except for snaps inside the redzone. Even then, his primary role will just be being a decoy... At least in that scenario, he might make it through 3 or 4 games, and then he'll have another 14 weeks to recover in time for 3 or 4 more postseason games! 😆 Psssh, McKenzie acting like they practice outdoors....
