Hey, will Jim Kelly was drafted 14th overall, and Dan Marino 27th overall, so we can still manage to have a decent season and hit on a 1st round QB Hell, Aaron Rodgers was drafted 24th overall, so anything's possible! And we've got the picks to trade up to middle of the first round in case we really want to pull the trigger on someone. Plus there's been plenty of successful QB's drafted after the 1st round, we just have to be one of the smart ones that find them. Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Tom Brady, Andy Dalton, Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr, etc. are all starters right now who have been drafted after the first and been pretty darn successful.

Dennison Likes What He's Seen from His Offense
BigDingus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I saw the headline of the thread, I just chuckled out loud. I mean I'm glad we're 3-1, but let's not kid ourselves, that's on the defense & our clutch kicker for the most part. Watching our offense rarely makes me think "I like what I see." We're once again abysmal through the air, ranked 31st in passing at the bottom of the league like last season, and our run game isn't as consistent or threatening as it used to be. Our leader in receptions is our TE, followed by our RB. Our 2nd round "sure-hands" WR is averaging 1 catch a game. Our O-line can't pass protect, Tyrod is getting happy feet more quickly than ever, and he overthrows wide open guys a couple times a game, or he simply doesn't see them as he doesn't look beyond his 1st read before he takes off running. Last week he had that one TD pass where he looked through his progressions, remained calm, and hit the open guy in the end-zone & looked fantastic! If only he was more patient like that, coupled with our line being able to block in similar fashion, I could definitely say "I like what I see" from this offense. Sadly, it looks pretty inept most of the time. I would just like for once to be confident on 3rd & 4 or even 3rd & 8 that we can come away with that conversion. It just seems like if we ever get to 3rd down, I'm more confident we're just going to be punting the next play. -
We as fans are panicking over the WR position.......
BigDingus replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well we're already at 31st in passing, scraping the bottom of the league like last year, only this year we have even more unknowns at WR and less depth with no hope of a "star" talent like Watkins or a solid WR like Woods returning from injury in time to help make a playoff push. Our leaders in receptions are our TE & RB. Our 2nd round pick is a WR averaging 1 catch a game (who also drops at least 1 catch a game). We don't have a possession WR we can count on to get a crucial reception. We don't have that slot guy with hands who can pick up that 1st down on 3rd and 5. Our QB overthrows a few WIDE open WR's a game. Yes, I'm a bit panicked, but it doesn't mean I don't have hope. I'm glad Tyrod isn't turning it over, I'm glad Clay is stepping up, I'm glad the Defense & kicker are winning us games. But man, this offense looks so unbelievably inept sometimes. Our running game has gotten worse, our pass protection has gotten worse, Tyrod seems ready to scramble much sooner (mainly because he's worried about the poor pass protection, as he should be), and we average under 200 yards passing a game. Our Defense has been phenomenal though. If they EVER have an off game, you know our offense will not pick up the slack. If we ever get behind 2 TD's, how much faith do you have in this offense to bring us back? If our D isn't keeping the game nail-bitingly close, how likely is it our offense will put a team away? The Texans & their rookie QB Watson put the hammer down last week and DOMINATED. Do you EVER see Tyrod & Co. doing that? I know I sound very negative, but we've seen these 3-1 or 5-2 starts before (with the latter also including a home win against the Patriots), yet we crumble down the stretch once opposing teams have tape on us. So far, they know all they have to do is stop the run, and our offense can't carry the load. The only thing they have to plan around is how to break through our Defense. Again, if our Defense ever has an off day, the game can get out of control FAST. 3 catches, 40 yards & zero drops would be a breakout game for Zay Jones at this point. -
Crap... You just know EJ is going to come to Buffalo and somehow stomp us... Please lord, anything but that!

Gameday Bills vs Broncos 2nd Half
BigDingus replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense, definitely. But keep in mind this drive has been extended because of Denver penalties, not us. Not to mention we have had 2 interceptions & a fake punt stop handed to us by the defense, yet our offense goes backwards every first down, then we don't recover from there. 2 field goals...that's it. 1 only happened because an unsportsmanlike flag made us go from a 4th down punt to 1st down. -

How many f***ing times are we going to go BACKWARDS on first down?! EVERY DRIVE! I'm going nuts watching this trash on offense! -

Man, first play Denver runs & they gain more yards than the Bills on their last 2 possessions. This is so frustrating. -

The more ridiculous part is that looking at Taylor's stats makes him look like he's been great - 17/22 passing with over 200 yards, 2 TDs & a 134.8 rating... But watching him shows a completely different story. -

Wouldn't it be cool if we had even a semblance of a competent offense? We basically have been given us 2 turnovers in a row in great position, yet both times we're going backwards. This is insanely bad. -
PFF: Bills are 31st for time for Taylor to throw.
BigDingus replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think TT is a pretty mediocre overall QB. Some games he's just extremely frustrating to watch as he can't seem to do a single thing right... He often looks like he "senses pressure" when there's none to be sensed, or at least not to the point where it's a threat, and starts dancing around looking panicked ready to run before any real danger is approaching. But I will also say the pass protection has not done him any favors. There are quite a few times where the second the ball is snapped, somebody (or somebodies - plural) is in the backfield after having blown right past a lineman... Half the time the opposing lineman doesn't have to do anything more than a quick side step and he'll come through untouched! So yeah, I see there's a definite issue with the line (mainly on the right side). But Tyrod complicates the problem exponentially himself. Watching the Panthers game, from snap to pass Taylor would stare down one receiver the entirety of the play, never even trying to fool the defense. You could tell who he wanted to pass to the second the ball got in his hands! People like to point to his size as why he gets so many balls batted down at the line, but the real problem is the defensive linemen don't even have to put much effort into reading his intentions! He may as well be screaming "Hey! HEY YOU! HEY ZAY! You ready?! I'mma throw it to you now!" And hell if they ever have to worry about a pump fake... Not with good ol' T-Mobile at the helm! 85% of the time, wherever Tyrod looks when the ball is snapped is exactly where he's going to pass 2-3 seconds later, without a doubt. Coupled with his spider-sense sending him false alarms making him want to run around before it's necessary, our lack of dynamic WR's and our shoddy right side of the O-line, it makes for a hell of a time for our offense to get in rhythm. And when there's no fear of the pass, 8 in the box just puts that much more pressure on the run game. Shady isn't a bruiser, and Tolbert isn't going to pick up many big plays, so it just complicates the entire situation making for some ugly possessions. With Denver's insane defense next (who just tore through the best offensive line in the league last week), it might get really ugly on Sunday :/ -
Bills "can't wait to unleash Tyrod Taylor"
BigDingus replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OL is going to get decimated this week. Did you not see what they did to the best O-line in football last week? -
It's my fault. I bought his jersey right before the contract... All down hill from there. My curse struck again when I decided last year "Ok, I think I can FINALLY pick out a player I know will be here long term & not f*** us somehow" when i was deciding on the first official Bills jersey to buy my wife. I bought Watkins. She enjoyed that for about 4 games Before that I bought Marshawn before he was traded. And before that I bought Bledsoe...sigh My first Bills jersey was given to me when I was 13, and it was Flutie... The year of the Music City "Miracle." It's probably best if I just never buy any jersey ever again. Thankfully, my wife felt bad for me & bought me a throwback Jim Kelly jersey this summer so I don't have to worry about this crap anymore lol

Zay Jones drops huge catch. <radio edit>
BigDingus replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was a pretty bad throw...catchable, sure, but he didn't do Jones any favors. Let's not act like Tyrod was on point today and that Jones let him down. Tyrod did jack diddly throughout the game. -
Right now it's good, regardless of who it was against. But we may feel differently at the end of the year... When we have only 4 wins & the Jets have 3 wins and pick before us in the draft, we might wish they came back & beat us. But at this point when we still have a chance to do stuff during the season, it's still a good thing.

Do you think we can beat Carolina?
BigDingus replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As close as the Jets game was for most of the game, and how they let possibly the worst team in the NFL hang around until the end at home, I can't see this going well in Carolina. I say we lose by at least a TD, possibly more. -
McD and Beane/ Do you trust them?
BigDingus replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I trust they have a very specific vision, to draft a QB next year, and to hang their hopes on building over the following 2-3 years. The only question is will the Pegulas give them the time, and will McDermott specifically be given the time? -
I don't see them getting rid of Jones or Peterman. Maybe one goes to the practice squad so they can keep Yates, but otherwise I expect both of them to be retained in some capacity.

Pats fans laughing at Bills GM firing
BigDingus replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean until we (and the rest of the league) can prove we can hang with them, they deserve to laugh all they want. 5 Super Bowl wins, playing in 7....that's just insane. In one QB generation they have tied the Cowboys for 2nd most Super Bowl wins of all time. That's insane. -
