"Investment" also invloves draft picks. *Higgins was the 33rd pick. Chase was selected 5th overall the following year.
There's a zero percent chance Beane drafts Higgins one year, then turns around and grabs Chase the following year. The pick, almost certainly, would have been Surtain II.
They do not value the position like Cinci or Philly does or else they'd take more chances than they have over the years. Trading a 3rd for 30 year old Amari Cooper isn't the same thing.
They've had a very "moneyball" way of filling the position.
*And Smith makes $7M more than Shakir AAV.
That is funny.
The Eagles manage to pay AJ Brown, Hurts, Smith, Barkely, Godert, and still field a good o-line.
It can be done.
See the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Falcons were a bad style matchup. I knew that going in. The loss, for me, was expected.
The playoffs are the only thing that really matters, but even then these same problems will persist.
Any physical run team will have their way with this defense and there aren't enough difference makers on offense.
Not close? Kyle Shanahan has been to 3 Super Bowls - counting Atlanta - with Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Brock Purdy.
Give him Allen and he'll win multiple Lombardis.
