In an odd way it's one of my favorite top 10 Bills games to watch. Or skim through. The team didn't play that great that night but still good enough to win. It's a very sort of the run of the mill/average game for the Bills of that era. It'd be like kind of a video yearbook of an average day in high school/grammar school. Perhaps nothing memorable per say about it but it'd be best at showing what your average day looked like back in the day.

Well it was a week 3 game so it was just 3-0. But I think some of the celebration came because at the time it looked like the Patriots stranglehold over the division was starting to weaken. They had lost to the Jets in the playoffs the year before and now the Bills it looked like got the NE monkey off their back. Years later I wonder if I had looked at it more objectively versus as a fan I could have picked up that team wasn't built for long term success?

Week 3 against the Patriots, 9/25/2011. The day the fifteen game losing streak against the Patriots ended. Besides it being like a really great day, the date always stands in my mind as well as it was my first trek to a Bills game. Couldn't beat it. Random fans coming up high-fiving me at the end of the game because I had on Bills gear, one fan behind me even hugged me. Complete but organized pandemonium after Lindell hit that winning field goal. If anyone goes to the Buffalo History Museum this game is displayed as one of the greatest in franchise history. Obviously not the greatest but still.... All these years later while it's still special it's kind of bittersweet. The game unfortunately never led to any long term success, especially with that core group of guys. Still had to wait another 6 years for the drought to end. But I think it's probably still the last big celebration like that at The Ralph? I mean even with this success of recent years: 2017: last game was in Miami, it was more a celebration of the Bengal play 2019: the big wins came on the road against Pittsburgh & Dallas 2020: the pandemic

My grandmother died earlier in the year and my dad got Covid along with his brother and sister. He tested positive before the funeral and didn’t attend service. I’m still not sure the whole time line of events. Condolences. Sorry it sounds you can’t attend as well?

Well Beane worked with Sandy in Oakland I believe. I respect all that saber metric stuff it’s just not my thing. Imo it takes the heart out of the game I get the passion fandom stuff too. Baseball in the early 2000s waned on me in general too some extent. Even then I thought the game seemed too corporate and I thought even before it hit the fan, why did guys seem much bigger in the 2000s than the 80s? But I did love reading stories of the 80s Mets teams. When I started working full time I got into Buffalo football again. Pretty hard core at times. Ironically the Gailey era was probably the height of my fandom. Even now with the team good sports fandom kind of waned. It just feels engrained me though to still follow. I think part of it at my age (mid 30s), I’m older than most the players now and understanding the business aspects. Kinda disappointed in Pegula

I skim the boards after a game but don’t really read too deeply into it toward the end of the week when the emotion dies down. On kind of the other side I thought after Josh got the big multi million dollar deal any fans who dared to question if it was the right time got shot down. Even if they had fair points. Its fan boards though. I’m pretty sure they’re all like that

2014- road opener against the Bears. Pretty much nobody including myself thought the Bills had a chance to win that day. This was right after the Doug vs Doug screaming matches in training camp. The Bears were supposed to be a contender that year but it never happened. Anyway I remember Chicago went ahead 7-0 and I decided to go out for a jog.... I wanted to do something constructive versus being aggravated. Get exercise. To my surprise when I returned in the 3rd quarter the Bills were actually winning! I thought about not listening to the game anymore as I might have been a jinx now. But yeah the game went into OT with that memorable run by Freddie where he stiffed the Chicago defender down to reach the goal line. It was cool that it was Buffalo's first road win as well in Chicago. Meaning they had then beaten every team on the road at some point in franchise history.

Scott pulled himself together enough when it mattered but umm that game did him no favors to fans who say he was a solid kicker overall. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is the only road victory the Bills had against the Raiders? I still don't think they won in Oakland... this was the L.A Raiders
