  1. Yes it is. His son isn't the behemoth the Carolina DT was, though.
  2. Thought about making a thread asking this question, but I think it fits here: How about Void years? We just restructured Conner McGovern's contract and added 2 void years at the end of his contract. This means that even though his contract expires at the end of 2025, there will still be dead cap money for 2 more years. So does this basically just provide extra motivation to extend him for 2 more seasons beyond 2025? And if we do that, does that basically just mean the void years we just put in his contract don't end up impacting the team at all? Then as a follow up question, when we signed Leonard Floyd last offseason, it was reported that there was a void year (I think just one) that we added into the deal. According to Spotrac, Floyd has a dead cap hit THIS YEAR of $4,376,250. Now... IF that is correct regarding the Floyd deal AND my thoughts about extending a player who has void years would be beneficial in terms of the CAP, wouldn't it be wise to just sign him to another deal for next year since you're already paying him over $4m??? Even if Floyd goes out in the market and gets an offer of $10m on a one year deal from a team, the Bills could technically offer him the exact same deal and pay less than $6m in new money, correct??? Anyone with an understanding of the void years thing??? An explanation would be much appreciated
  3. Any chance the Orange make the tourney as an at large? Seems like they've stacked some wins at the end of the season.
  4. Why is this such a popular thread right now??? We aren't cutting Knox. We aren't trading Knox. Most likely scenario is actually that we restructure his contract and he's locked into the Bills for closer to the duration of the deal.
  5. I don't think the Bills were ever really going to be big players in FA. But this is awesome because it probably means that now the Bills don't have to restructure Diggs's deal like they would have before. That doesn't really mean anything even for next offseason in terms of cutting or trading Diggs, but I think it gives us an easy out on his contract in the 2026 offseason.
  6. Yes... all of this is true. The problem is that even though I think Josh will be in the HOF, it's still always going to boil down to Super Bowls when the discussion boils down to "greatest of all time." Dan Marino was a generational QB, but because he never won a Lombardi, he's just another QB in the HOF. Same goes for Jim Kelly. I would like for Josh to at least be in the realm of that discussion. Peyton Manning is part of that discussion even though he was a shell of himself for one of his 2 Super Bowls. Josh needs to get one. And I still firmly believe he'll get not just one, but at least 2. As to your larger points, I think most of us actually understand what we're watching with Josh, but that's what makes the lack of Super Bowls hurt that much more. We understand how incredible he is, but he's not going to truly get the national recognition he deserves until he wins the Super Bowl or even gets to one. And yes, I think that national recognition matters just because of how special he clearly is.
  7. Anyone who subscribes to The Athletic can find the top 150 UFAs ranked with blurbs describing each player. https://theathletic.com/5280918/2024/02/19/free-agency-rankings-nfl-best-available/?source=user-shared-article
  8. Josh was awesome this year. And just like 2021, he was spectacular in the playoffs, only to be let down by team and coaching. In 2023 he suffered from incredibly bad luck as far as turnovers go and a horrible case of the dropsies by his receivers in the last 9 or 10 games of the season.
  9. I understand that it sounds paradoxical, but I actually think the idea that circumstance, system, surrounding personnel, etc. all play critical roles in what a QB becomes is pretty simple. Mahomes is a better NFL QB than Josh. In a vacuum, Josh is better than Mahomes. All my opinion, of course. Make sense?
  10. I think I was pretty clear with what I said. Yes, it does.
  11. I feel like pretty much everyone (other than Nick Wright) has come around on JA17 being a generational QB. PFF hated him. Now they love him. Aaron Schatz pre-2018-draft wrote scathing articles about him. He was the only person to give a 1st place vote for MVP for Allen. I'm just frustrated for Allen more than I even am for myself--and I'm pretty freaking frustrated!!! Josh Allen is not a better QB than Patrick Mahomes. But if the Bills drafted Patrick Mahomes in 2017 and the Chiefs drafted Josh Allen in 2018, I firmly believe the Chiefs would have won as many Super Bowls or more... I honestly think more. And I think the Bills would have been worse. I realize that makes me a homer... but I hope you understand that I simultaneously believe that Patrick Mahomes is better than Josh and is inarguably the best QB in the NFL. I just hope and pray as a frustrated WNYer and as one empathetic to the ultimate underdog in JA17 that in a decade that conversation is arguable.
  12. Can we stop with the releasing or trading Diggs talk already? It's not happening. Diggs is gonna be Diggs for the media. I think he just likes making the media suffer. Unfortunately, it also means Bills fans suffer... but for him it's about the media, not Bills fans. By all reports with the Bills beat reporters, he stuck around in the locker room and was one of the last to leave hanging out with the guys on locker room cleanout day and was in good spirits. Diggs is guaranteed here next year and probably the year after, too.
  13. Cut one. Paycut for the other to be our full time returner. If we knew Hines were going to be healthy I'd prefer to keep him and cut Harty since we only have Cook on the roster at RB right now and I really just want an infusion of new blood in the WR room. My bold prediction for next season as of this moment is that either Isabella or Hamler make the roster next season and actually contribute.
  14. Maybe... but I don't know. It's kinda my offseason resolution to stop listening to the national talking heads, but how many of them ever actually say that Josh is better? None of them are afraid to consistently talk about Mahomes being the best QB in the NFL (and rightly so), but you don't really hear them separate that next tier of Elite QBs in Allen, Burrow & Lamar. The only one who consistently does is that Bills Troll Nick Wright, who always has Lamar ahead of Allen
  15. So average it out if you want. How about Passer Rating? Josh Allen has a Passer Rating of exactly 100 in those 10 games. Lamar's is 75.7. And other people brought up MVP votes, I didn't. OP was more just a springboard for discussion.
  16. Here are the 2023 MVP voters: Emmanuel Acho, FS1 Greg Auman, Fox Sports Howard Balzer, PHNX radio Jarrett Bell, USA Today Dave Birkett, Detroit Free Press Tom Brady, Fox Sports Tedy Bruschi, ESPN Vic Carucci, WGRZ radio Mark Craig, Minneapolis Star Tribune Tom Curran, NBC Sports Boston Charles Davis, CBS Sports Nate Davis, USA Today Howard Deneroff, Westwood One Tony Dungy, NBC Sports Jori Epstein, Yahoo Sports Boomer Esiason, CBS Sports Doug Farrar, USA Today Sports Media Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk Reuben Frank, NBC Sports Philadelphia Rich Gannon, SiriusXM Jonathan Jones, CBS Sports Lindsay Jones, The Ringer Mike Jones, The Athletic Clark Judge, Talk of Fame Network Ira Kaufman, JoeBucsFan(dot)com Mina Kimes, ESPN Peter King, NBC Sports Pat Kirwan, SiriusXM Jeff Legwold, ESPN Jim Miller, SiriusXM Sam Monson, Pro Football Focus Bruce Murray, SiriusXM Gary Myers, NFL author Laura Okmin, Fox Sports Dan Orlovsky, ESPN Nick Pavlatos, SiriusXM Dan Pompei, The Athletic Nora Princiotti, The Ringer Lorenzo Reyes, USA Today Charles Robinson, Yahoo Sports Dianna Russini, The Athletic Mike Sando, The Athletic Aaron Schatz, FTN Network Adam Schein, CBS Sports Tom Silverstein, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Chris Simms, NBC Sports Armando Salguero, Outkick(dot)com Mike Tirico, NBC Sports Ben Volin, Boston Globe Charean Williams, Pro Football Talk
  17. Agreed... but what Nolan is saying--and he's right--is that those are the things MVP voters value and in that order. And we just have to understand and accept that it won't likely change. I actually understand why they do it at the end of the regular season. The MVP would overwhelmingly always be the same as Super Bowl MVP. Mahomes shouldn't have been league MVP this year and voters would have been biased by his postseason and would have given it to him.
  18. Every other 2 time winner is in the HOF Bruce Nolan agrees with you https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2024/2/11/24069190/opinion-mvp-voters-like-fans-overall-think-wins-are-a-qb-stat-ravens-lamar-jackson-bills-josh-allen He ranks the priorities for MVP voters in the following order: #1- Most wins in Conference #2- Most wins head to head against other MVP candidates #3- QB efficiency #4- Raw stats 7 years in a row that the MVP winner has been the best team in the AFC or NFC record wise.
  19. Yeah... Greg is all but guaranteeing Diggs is on the team through the 2026 season because of how much we would still owe him if we released him before then.
  20. It is... it's just inaccurate.
  21. Where are you getting your numbers? Lamar Jackson fumbled the ball 11 times and lost 6 fumbles this year, not 2.
  22. I've become a terrible Cuse fan... what will it take for SU to get into the tourney??? Not even a bubble team right now.
  23. Josh... 5-5 playoff record 2,723 yards passing 21 touchdowns 4 interceptions 563 yards rushing 5 rushing TDs . Jackson... 2-4 playoff record 1,324 yards passing 6 touchdowns 6 interceptions 521 yards rushing 3 rushing TDs. Lamar, sadly, pretty much ensured (somehow) he will be in the HOF as a 2 time League MVP. Josh (somehow) still has work he's gotta do to be considered. Discuss...
