  1. Now contrast the Jags playcalling when they went up by multiple scores with the Eagles going up by multiple scores yesterday against the Vikes. I really, really, really hope Dennison was primarily responsible for the fact that the Bills passed the ball over 4% less than the entire NFL when up by more than one TD and almost 8% less than the 18 teams that ended up with a record between 7-9 and 11-5. I hope Dabol persuades McDermott to have at least a little more of a foot-to-the-throat mentality when we're leading. It'd be nice to finally wrack up a ton of garbage time yards and points when leading the way the Patriots always do and the way the Rams and Eagles did this year as opposed to getting a lead and just holding on for dear life. Unfortunately, I don't think this changes much.
  2. Stepping out of the Persona of the OP for a moment... Do we have anyone better? Nate Peterman sure as hell ain't it. Come to the middle where Tyrod Taylor is a QB we should be actively trying to upgrade on, but isn't nearly as bad as you constantly paint him. This is just going to be a long and really ridiculous offseason where people are going to paint QBs like Nick Foles, Case Keenum and Blake Bortles as much better than they really are. At this point, settling for a guy like Tyrod Taylor,Case Keenum, Nick Foles, Blake Bortles, Sam Bradford, or Alex Smith this offseason without doing everything we can to draft whoever McDermott/Beane/Dabol want at QB in round 1, even if it requires a trade up, would be one of the worst possible things we could do since it would ensure we'd likely be a middling franchise for years more with just random popup years of being really good the way the Vikes and Jags did this year; I mention those 2 because I think they both take big steps back next year. I want "the guy" at QB while also building up the roster. The Patriots and Tom Brady have just made it so that "only one Super Bowl" is going to mean a lot less in the future, unfortunately. The only way to get more than one of those is go get a great QB and build the roster. Right now I don't really care much about the Taylor discussion. I'm more concerned with whoever our longterm Franchise QB. That guy won't be Taylor, Case Keenum, Nick Foles, Sam Bradford or Alex Smith, it's going to be some rookie we draft in the 1st... there's a very small chance it's Cousins if we make a run at him in FA, but I don't think it'll be him because of cost and the fact that I think the staff wants a young guy who has a much higher ceiling. Now, our starter in 2018 might not be whoever we draft... it might be Taylor. It might be a vet FA QB, though I think that's less likely than Taylor. And I think if it's a vet FA QB, it'll be a cheaper guy like McCown or a guy like Alex Smith who literally has one year left on his current contract so there's a quick window out. If Taylor's still on the roster in a couple months, you and I can keep butting heads with Taylor talk. What's the point right now? So, for now, you can keep on increasing that post count of yours with what seems to be an unbelievable obsession with talking about Taylor with all your little one liners... I'll jump in with a post or two occasionally. But in the end, it's going to be the draft and the QB we should draft we should all be talking about because, really, that's what matters here.
  3. Hey Hucklebuck, you're right, let's go get the next Tom Brady... in fact... nay... Let's get someone better damnit! I want 15 straight Super Bowls from whoever we draft starting NEXT YEAR!!! Must be easy to find, right??? I don't know what the point of this call out is. I've been excited about who we might draft in the 1st round at QB this year the moment we traded down last year and it became obvious that's the plan. I put the note in the OP this was largely tongue in cheek as a thread, anyway as an homage to a poster who's now apparently been banned a 2nd time under a new name. Alas, people look solely at a title and pounce.
  4. WTF?!?! That's messed up!
  5. Yeah I saw them smiling and laughing in the broadcast. Thought it was really weird. Yes, I do think there's a little bit of an effort and has been to get the Pats back in the Super Bowl. It was nearly the Jags & Bortles vs the Eagles & Foles... yikes!!!
  6. Yes. Completely agree. And I legitimately think all our draft pick acquisitions going back to the trade with KC last year to unloading Watkins and Darby have all been with the intent of getting whoever McDermott feels is "his guy" this year. Darnold is the guy the Bills have been linked to but I think our only path to getting him is trading up with Cleveland at 4, at best. Darnold, Mayfield and Rudolph are the 3 I'd like, even though Mayfield may not be a McDermott guy... unless he's really confident he can mold all of his attitude and competitiveness the right way. Allen scares the hell out of me... reminds me of an EJ 2.0 type prospect. I just think Jackson is too similar to Taylor for us to draft him... or I could be wrong and that could be exactly why we draft him. I don't even think Rosen is on our radar... though that's nothing more than a feeling. I think I'd be most excited if we traded up to acquire Darnold because despite having to give up draft picks, it would show serious confidence that Darnold is "the guy." If we don't do that, I think we take Rudolph. I'd be happy with either.
  7. Well crap, now you made me respect you a little. Damn you! Fair enough. We're closer in beliefs than I think either of us thought. Your feelings on how I really feel about Taylor are probably a bit exaggerated, but oh well, it's the Internet. I'm just excited to see what happens this offseason at QB. And whatever QB we acquire via draft or trade or whatever damn well better be a better QB than Case Keenum or Blake Bortles or Nick Foles despite the fact that everyone is a victim of the moment right now.
  8. All anyone really needs to know about you as a poster, and trolls like you certainly aren't guys anyone should ever get remotely upset about.
  9. Nose remains untweaked. I've been right so damn much ... hard to care much about the type of extreme overcompensation you tend to do here. So, you're the type of person who laughs because you think you're getting under someone's skin? Your family and friends must be very lucky
  10. You and NoSaint both keep bringing up that bet. Why? You mad that I won both of those light-hearted fun bets? Or are you mad that despite the fact that you and your ilk were shouting from the mountaintop for a couple years that there was no way we'd make the playoffs with Taylor under center? I wonder if us making the playoffs was bittersweet for you since one of your foundational beliefs was proven wrong. Or does your bitterness go back to when I said there was no way Peterman was winning a "QB competition" in TC? Or does it go back to me saying we weren't really very likely to draft a QB early last year? Or does it go back to me saying McDermott as a new HC last year was much more likely to keep Taylor as his QB for another year or two? Honestly are you just mad at me all the time because I've been right so much that deep down it scares you like a small child knowing that I've been saying I think it's unlikely Tyrod is just cut before his roster bonus is due, a bit more likely that he's traded likely in a package to move up in the draft, and probably about as likely McDermott decides to keep Taylor for another year, especially after the Dabol hire, which I believe makes it more rather than less likely Taylor's still under center in 2018? If that scares you, don't worry, I also steadfastly believe we're drafting a QB in the first, probably through a trade up. And I think that QB will be given every opportunity to start sooner rather than later

  12. Oh c'mon now... I'm sure there was one other time if we think long and hard about this
  13. God people overreact to just about everything. Foles and the Eagles are catching lightning in a bottle right now. I would love love love it if the Eagles won the Super Bowl against Brady and all the sudden Foles is somehow a great QB. People are hilarious
  14. So friggin funny how absolutely seriously some of you are taking this thread. Now let's go get the next Tom Brady this offseason and win some damn Super Bowls!!! Gotta be easy, right?
  15. Which of us is looking for crumbs and which of us is hanging onto an anchor? It's natural to draw that line in the sand. I get it. But I don't think this distinction is as clearly defined as you obviously believe it is
  16. Holy crap those are the weirdest most narrow parameters I’ve ever friggin seen as a “metric”!!! I bet this has happened maybe once or twice with Buffalo from 2015-2016 with a one score game and enough realistic time under 2 minutes to drive down the field. ’sallright. I love you Teddy KGB I mean... Airitoutfitzy I mean... Maurybalstein I mean... RyanLBills Gawd I just can’t keep track of who you are
  17. And Taylor has literally been excellent under center in PA in his first 3 years. Guaranteed. Stats have been posted and evidence is there since 2015. Football 101 bro. I naturally will as soon as we move past Tyrod. Would you stubbornly keep your head in the sand if our OC chooses Tyrod as our week 1 starting QB? Certainly not something I think absolutely will or is even incredibly likely to happen, but very possible.
  18. PS: what were Taylor's stats like passing to QBs when Woods and Watkins were on the field together? #youreatrollordumb I have no depression. My life doesn't revolve around disparaging others on an Internet message board as yours apparently does. About to jump in the water for an evening surf session. Don't think about much other than the beauty of the ocean and the sunset at that point. Thanks for your concern, though, brah!
  19. I don't that what? The Bills don't really have WRs, or didn't in 2017. What were Keenum's first 5 years in the NFL like? #OCsMATTER.
  20. Wow... you're desperate for this to not be true. Kinda sad. I've seen these stats in the past with Taylor under center. One of the articles I just posted even shows you a play or two as an example. I'm not doing the searching. You won't believe the sky is blue even if you step outside without a cloud in sight. Have at it, bro. Enjoy your mythology.
  21. Let's make this very very clear... here's the reason I think this is good, not bad: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2016/2015-play-action-offense Who is #1 in play action in any passing play, whatsoever? also... https://www.google.com/amp/s/articles.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/09/buffalo_bills_secret_weapon_is_the_play-action_pass_says_espn_insider.amp ESPN Insider had Pro Football Focus look at every team's secret weaponthrough three games and it's hard to argue with the analytics site when you see how well Tyrod Taylor has thrown off of play-action pass plays. PFF wrote that no quarterback has a higher rating than Taylor when using play-action. Tyrod Taylor has been impressive again in 2017. Much of that has to do with the damage he can do on the back of the Buffalo running game with play-action passes. Taylor's passer rating when using play-action is 144.1 -- the best in the league -- while his passer rating on plays without a run fake is 84.7. Taylor has a yards-per-attempt average 4 yards higher when using play-action and is completing 78.9 percent of his passes. Taylor's overall stat line this season won't blow anyone away. The Bills' starting quarterback has thrown for 562 yards through three games with four touchdowns and one interception. However, it's apparent that the play-action pass is working for Taylor based on his passer rating, completion percentage and yards-per-attempt average.
  22. Ya know I think some people think Taylor's the dumbest QB to ever play. I've seen posts pretty much directly saying this recently. I'm not going to bother arguing this. There's no point. I don't think Taylor's dumb. He's probably been playing QB for 15-20 years, he's a college graduate and he's been an NFL starter at the most important position for 3 seasons. That doesn't happen for someone who's dumb. Taylor is very much a capable NFL QB. I think Dabol is going to see what Taylor can do physically and then he's going to want to work with him. This doesn't mean work solely with him, it means draft a more talented young QB, work with Taylor for a year, pull Taylor's best year out of him, and then put the more talented rookie in the following year who is even more successful... all the while increasing Dabol's own stock. The system doesn't really require more intelligence than the WCO or Air Coryell after reading up on it because it's very maleable. Yes, it might operate best with a QB who can essentially operate as a coach on the field like Brady or Peyton, but having one of those guys isn't necessary for a successful E-P offense. It just requires an OC who can adjust to what he's working with. And from what I've read, Dabol is pretty good at adjusting to what he has: http://www.cover1.net/offensive-coordinator-brian-daboll-could-bridge-the-college-and-nfl-game-in-buffalo/ "A large playbook is a good thing to have because it makes it much more difficult for opponents to prepare for. But a large playbook must be one that is easy for college and NFL players to learn. It must have a language that is easy to digest and remember. That was evident in this National Championship game. Tagovailoa and Hurts were able to run lots of tempo to tire out the defense, but the simplicity of the scheme gave Tagovailoa the ability to easily call audibles at the line of scrimmage like he does on this play. Tagovailoa checks to outside zone late in the fourth quarter." and "Daboll is able to use creative personnel groupings and looks on offense to confuse defenses, all while making things as easy as possible for his QB and offensive unit as a whole." No worries. You don't see it. Quite possible you need glasses
