-Households making between $250-$500k saw their tax liability go down by 14.4% as compared with 12.5% in the lowest income bracket at $15-$20k. The ability to write off Home Equity loan interest primarily hurts the middle class. The cuts to corporate (reduced 14%) and estate (exemption raised from $5.4 to $11.4 million)taxes primarily helps the wealthy. Tell me again how this was not primarily targeted to help the wealthy. As for the national debt, Trump and the Republicans pretty strongly advertised that the tax cuts would pay for themselves as part of the push to pass the tax bill. You're saying he knowingly lied and you're fine with that? -Good for you, but way to sidestep the provided and requested fact. -I won't bemoan you of this, but it is my understanding that you retired at a relatively young age. Is that correct? I realize I don't actually know how old you are, but I thought you were younger... like in your 40s or early 50s. If so, you and your hubby are probably in a pretty good place financially and have been for years I apologize if I'm mistaken on that last point but it seems like a logical conclusion if you were able to retire young. understand some individuals might be paying more under Obamacare and I'm not going to pretend it's a perfect law, but it's done a lot more good than bad in this country, especially for low income uninsured people. -Not feelz because he had a clear inability to understand that it was wrong to use force to clear out peaceful protesters so he could clear a path for himself for a photo op. Do you dispute that actually happened? -Again. Good for you. It's why you're going to vote for him. History will look back on his Presidency as one step back for environmental progress, though. -Those treaties don't just apply to "being the World's policeman." Connected to the previous point the Paris Climate agreement was one. The world is continuing to be more and more global despite the movements toward isolationism popping up recently. Being more connected than ever, the world is likely going to continue on that path to global cooperation. -I don't watch CNN. How many "acting" officials has he had? Trump's turnover rate for his high level officials is higher than Reagan, either Bush, or Obama. -It's not true he plays golf way more than President Obama did? It's not true that he constantly plays on his own resorts or spends weekends in Mara Lago in a resort his company owns? It's not true his company benefits financially in some way from him doing this? It's not true that out of the blue we started flying Military planes to a small airport near one of Trump's Golf courses out of the blue? - -For 3 years what Trump had going was he didn't screw things up with the economy that had been steadily building for double that time under the Obama administration. That's the credit he deserves. He wasn't some miracle worker bringing an economy back from shambles like the next President will have to do. -Trump didn't create the virus and there's certainly blame to go around to Governors, but the buck obviously stops with him. This topic has been talked in circles, but if you still think Trump and his Administration have no culpability in the sheer number of sick and dead people in this country then maybe it's you who needs to find a different news source. -"Law and Order," "Dominate the streets," "This is a great day for George Floyd," etc. -Except the Obama Administration warned the Trump campaign as well. You guys have your conspiracy theories you're going to roll with. Again I encourage you to find a different News source yourself.

Does PPP stand against Racism?
transplantbillsfan replied to GregPersons's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do you honestly think that's the breakdown in terms of consistent posters in PPP? I would be pleased and quite surprised if at least 20% of those who frequent this forum are minorities. -

It's not each Individual answer that's all that revealing, it's the demographics of this forum as a whole. -

Does PPP stand against Racism?
transplantbillsfan replied to GregPersons's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not going to start the thread, but if you're really trying to break this issue down, ask 1 simple question: Are you caucasian? I just posed this question in another thread largely because I'm curious if there's actually anyone not dominantly white who frequents this forum. If you pose that as a poll and people are honest and the vast majority of consistent posters claim they are, I think it answers a lot of questions. -
Right back at ya... You're the one asking how you could support Biden if Institutional racism is your issue. Pretty sure that's the issue for black people. Seems the support leans overwhelmingly for Biden over Trump from black people. I understand the reason you're dismissive of the question even though the question is warranted given your own pretty definitive question. So do you think all those black people supporting Biden right now and voting for him in the Fall are dumb or naive or misguided or whatever word you want to use? Just keep in mind Biden will almost certainly get 85-90% of the black vote, at least. Side question: is everyone in this forum white? Are there any black people who frequent PPP?

A tax bill that was unnecessary in the first place but primarily helped the wealthy as opposed to the middle class and is adding TONS to our national debt despite being advertised as paying for itself. A statistically significant rise in hate crimes, attributed likely in some small part at least to his own hateful rhetoric--yes, words do matter, especially from the President. His desperation to take people's health insurance away by dismantling an imperfect but fixable Affordable Care Act rather than building on it to make it better. His complete lack of any empathy. And that's not a "feelz" thing because it bleeds over into his actions, like violently clearing out peaceful protesters for a 3 minute photo op. Environmental deregulations, setting this country's environmental progress back. The national treaties we've been pulling out of and a general turn inward in a world constantly getting more global despite the wildly underestimated but still minority populist movements that have sprung up recently. Our global standing as a trustworthy Country. ADHD when it comes to his cabinet members, who aren't afforded the ability to be the experts they're supposed to be because they're required to walk on eggshells to appease a boss who can't hear hard truths. Constant and utter corruption from his own appointees and from himself. I wasn't here years ago but I'm sure DR posted tweets or comments by Trump at some point about how he wouldn't be on the golf course like Obama and that he'd probably never leave the White House because he'd be working too hard. Not quite what happened, is it? It will be interesting to see when his Presidency is done at the end of this year how much he cost the American taxpayers and how much the American taxpayers actually funded Trump's business. Not to mention other shady things like $17.2 million spent to land military planes at a small airport in Scotland, which of course was right near a golf resort Trump owns. Everything he's done with the Press in terms of his lack of transparency and other things like calling them the enemy of the people, which you see his supporters shouting at journalists consistently. An economy that is now in shambles after 3 years of riding the coattails of the previous Administration that rebuilt the economy from the last economic disaster, which is what Biden's Administration will have to start doing again in January. 115,000 Americans dead in just 4 months and counting due in part to a President who was utterly unprepared due to his own ego and narcissism and even now seems to be in denial. Let's be honest, this is what's sealed his fate as a one term President already. His handling of these protests in terms of both rhetoric and action. Casting preemptive doubt on the democratic process foreshadowing a breaking of long tradition of the peaceful transfer of power from one President to another. Sorry, not an exhaustive list, but you asked for facts for why he's an awful President. I think as the years progress and the world progresses history is going to look at him even worse... one step back for this Country after 2 steps forward under Obama.

This, minus the "as inept as his opponen" part. Biden isn't a historically great Democratic candidate by any means. But the guy he's running against has had 3 1/2 years to demonstrate he's an utterly horrible President. Biden just needs to be clearly better than Trump. And he is because it's really not hard. That's why Biden wins in November.

Why did you ask questions you and everyone else know the answers to? It's pretty dumb. That the answer to those 2 questions is "yes" does not disqualify him. I skipped answering yes and moved on to respond to your next inevitable question/statement in the anecdotes about my uncles and Hawaiian culture. I responded to your word salad by actually trying to directly address your point instead of a one word "yes," which is ridiculous. You seem to love building up your points with pointless questions that waste time. That's fine if you like spending a lot of time in this forum. I don't. So next time instead of asking unnecessary questions, get to the point. As I just said I wasn't contorting. My question to you was one that I didn't know the answer to. You and everyone else knows the answer to your first 2 questions, thus my choice to skip answering them and instead explain why it's not as big a deal to me as it clearly is to you. The answer to those 2 questions--barring some perhaps questionable word choce--is YES, obviously. Now this is a joke. You're being pointlessly ridiculous. They were the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. When complete, he's on the Supreme Court as one of 9 judges. Supreme Court Justices are appointed. They aren't elected officials. The Senate was literally the last line of defense if he was guilty. Biden would be an elected official. The Presidential election is nearly 5 months away. The Democratic National Convention is over 2 months away. An investigation of the allegations can happen as he runs in the months to come. You're being silly. I didn't say I fully supported the nomination but based on the results of the hearings, I felt there was insufficient revealed evidence to hold up the hearings any longer. Actually I wasn't 100% certain you'd still claim you're 85-15 he did it. In fact, I'm pretty shocked you are. Mine was a legitimate question where I do admit to being a little childish in calling you out on it the way DR likes to try to do with me, but I did so because I figured you changed your opinion at least a bit.
-
Actually I addressed the first 2 questions if you're paying attention. In fact I don't know why you bothered asking them since they're documented and aren't questioned by anyone, barring some word choice. You're smart enough to understand that. I just trusted you were engaging in genuine dialogue rather than trying to set the stupid rhetorical traps that lead to fallacious arguments this place is so rich with. I'm disappointed in my own misplaced trust. The answer to question 3 is no. His public statement was to postpone Kavanaugh's appointment and investigate the Ford accusation, "wherever that may lead." He said the same about Reade's allegations. My answer to question 4 is no. Unless you're saying the movement to investigate was the movement to destroy Kavanaugh, then my answer is yes. I'm presuming you're asking me if I just wanted him automatically dismissed as a candidate because he was accused. And my answer to that would be absolutely not. There, I wasted time directly answering all 4 questions.

I will respond, though I think it's pointless. I have 2 Uncles like Biden. My sisters would vouch for that and my older sister actually spoke with them about it. My Uncles are both good people but could get a little "handsy," in a manner of speaking. After my sister spoke with them, it never happened again. And while I can't 100% say for sure because I don't spend every moment with them--especially now living 6,000 miles away--I'm comfortable saying neither have raped or sexually molested anyone by reaching under their skirt. My Dad hugs and kisses people affectionately, usually on the cheek occasionally on the lips. Here in Hawai'i part of the culture is literally hugging and kissing on the cheek. Biden is a physically affectionate guy. And it's with men AND women. That's the crux of why I mostly dismiss it. I think you and your ilk are trying to build up an argument of logic against Biden instead of considering just what/who he is. That's why I largely dismiss it. Intentions do matter. And I realize that last statement is what you'll latch onto. But Donald Trump has the mentality of one who would then actually be guilty of any of the 26 sexual assaults he's been accused of. I have a lot more to say about the subject, but frankly don't think this message board is worth the effort--not an accusation of you in particular as I find you pleasant enough to interact with. The subject not an easy one.

I'm legitimately disturbed you can't see the sheer stupidity (or arrogance... or narcissism...) in the very idea of separating "systemic racism" from race. The fact that you're accusing me of bringing race into a discussion where you initially brought up systemic racism is head-scratching and laughable. But go ahead and keep calling all those black people who are going to vote for Biden over Trump by an EXTREMELY wide margin in the Fall stupid and dishonest. It's a really good look for you. -

Wow. You just can't stop yourself. 78% of African American voters in the South Carolina primaries 65 or older voted for Joe Biden as their Democratic candidate in February. You think those old black voters in the deep south haven't experienced systemic racism? They overwhelmingly support Biden. So now old black voters in South Carolina are deeply stupid or deeply dishonest? We've established your racism, but do you have something against old people, too? -

Wait, now you're talking about systemic racism and you're trying to distinguish "systemic racism" from "race?" You did say people. That's true. Who as a group is most upset about systemic racism? Pretty clearly black people as a whole, isn't it? Wait, are you now just saying anyone White who is upset about systemic racism who votes Biden is stupid and dishonest? Jesus man, so now you're saying black people aren't actually people???? That's soooooooo much worse than what you said before! -

You didn't? You brought up systemic racism first. Do you think that's somehow separate from race, Oy -

Holy cow there you go again! Or are you just so narcissistic you don't understand that black people as a whole are upset by systemic racism? Stop calling black people stupid and dishonest. Emphasizing it even more with "deeply" is even worse. -

Holy crap dude! In such a sensitive moment you choose to call black people stupid? Biden is going to crush Trump in the Black vote. Trump will be lucky if he reaches 10%. I knew you were arrogant. I didn't know you're also racist. Such a shame. Now black people are stupid AND dishonest?!?! Dude. Take a break.
