I haven’t forgotten. Somehow I enjoyed those years almost as much. Expectations were low, the draft was more fun, and there was always the hope that we would get the next big guy. Now we have him and it feels like we’re blowing it every single year. It’s the added pressure of expectations and disappointment when another year of prime unicorn goes by.

I feel like it’s becoming more and more rare than I enjoy watching a Bills game. Maybe it’s the impending doom feeling that we have a unicorn QB and still find a way to mess it up. Its the whole history of the team, the coach, the GM… When they win, I feel relieved. When they lose, I feel devastated. Any tips? What do you all do to disengage and try to actually enjoy this?

It's effectively the "stop the run at all costs" formation... similar to Goal Line. Since it takes one DB and arguably one LB off the field, if an offense has any talent in the intermediate/deep passing game, you get killed. Similarly, I think this doesn't solve our issue of defensive linemen not playing with gap integrity. With 5 down linemen, you can still create holes if the DL doesn't stand firm, but with Bear, there are less 2nd level defenders to help after the initial push. I guess it's an ok exotic look if you badly need a 1-2 yard stop and are expecting rush all the way, but there are way more negatives than positives as a base defense.

https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/houston-texans/stroud-injury-update-pitre-ryans-bills-mills/ Sounds like it is fairly unlikely Stroud will play

In real time, the refs saw a hand go onto a helmet and Shakir's helmet jerk to the side. It wasn't the right call, but it was by no means a phantom call. Unbelievably difficult to see that the defender was pulling the ear hole and not the mask.

Dorian Williams in the Hoecht/Lorax role?
Rigotz replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The piece you're missing with Dorian is pass rush skills. Lorax and Hoecht have significantly better pass rush skills and were significantly larger. You need a person who can actually play on the line, not a 225lb linebacker. -
- Name best player at his position - Ignore his current contract - Ignore that there’s no chance his team trades him - “We gotta get this guy” Repeat!

I think you're missing the point. James Cook extended -- GOOD THING SO FAR. Your response -- here are all the bad things Beane has done. We're doing too much of that.
-
My god, you really can't give Beane any credit, can you?? Cook is having an incredibly good season and Beane got him on a very fair long term contract. Your response is that the backups don't look good and Brady deserves all the credit for the run game, then immediately go into shaming the WR position... Do you see the issue here?

I wonder if this makes Miami more or less likely to trade players ahead of the deadline. Perhaps we can strike a deal with their dumb owner to pry away Waddle before they get a real GM in place???

2024 Rapp would be a big loss 2025 Rapp, this is the best possible thing Hopefully whatever was wrong with his knee contributed to the decline and he'll be back to 2024 version next year ... in a depth role.

For everyone crying about Brandon Beane lately -- how angry are you that Cook is locked up for $11.5M a year for the next 4 years?
