There are two types of fans who say Josh "will never get it done" 1) Emotional fans who have suffered their whole lives and are distancing themself to protect their fragile mindsets. 2) New, bandwagon fans who don't understand how good we have it. Everyone else is just venting that Josh sometimes makes bonehead mistakes, which is true. He's also one of the top 3 if not best QBs in the league and we will always have a chance to win any game when plays.

This is a great point and I'll resist the urge to create another thread! Hoecht popped his achilles in November of last year. Almost all analysts had him starting the year on PUP and honestly, it's a miracle that he's out there this early. Achilles recovery takes 6-12 months to get back to full strength and even then, you're not immediately back to elite levels. Considering he's already back on the field full time, I think there's a decent chance he improves as the year goes on and is full/full by playoffs if he stays healthy. Full disclosure, might be wishful thinking. Maybe he'll never be the same again.

You're out on TJ Parker? That's an interesting take... he has barely played and there has been plenty of excitement coming from him in preseason. I would imagine you said the same thing about Landon Jackson last year, but this year you feel he might develop? How about Dwayne Carter... you probably said he needs to get cut going into this year, but I think he looks pretty good. Point is, it's early. Also, you might not like Bishop, but he is NOT slow.

A pitch on the goal line is a lot different from a pitch in the middle of the field. Pitch on the goal line, your WRs better sustain blocks and you better be able to make the safeties miss because they are all less than 5 yards away from you.

I'm surprised this thread turned into more complaining about players who aren't working out. Take Benford and Bishop off the list if you think they stink. When is the last time we have had two legitimate young talents on the D-Line and a bunch of cheap young talent around them on defense?

The deal is worth "up to" $6M. Meaning, veteran minimum and a bunch on incentives he wont earn.

It's a completely different defense. Seems a little reductive to just say "we need to stop the run better." With the Nickel scheme featuring a lot of zone match, we were inviting teams to run. The benefit of this was having better passing looks, which we saw reflected in significantly better passing DVOA, yards per pass, explosive pass players, etc. If we just focused on fixing the run, the passing game would suffer. That's not the conversation we need to have here. Here's what we actually need: - Better pressure on the QB via D-Line, ideally through scheme multiplicity. - Better production as a defense on third and long (stops and INTs). - Better tackling. - More consistent run defense by linebackers playing their gaps appropriately and D-Line maintaining their blocks. *EDIT: I'm going to throw one in that we simply needed to get younger and more talented. Seems like we did that as well.

The Rams are +500 favorites to win the Super Bowl. Over the past 30 years, preseason favorites with odds of +500 or better have gone 0-20. You can cry and go home. I'll play the odds and try to enjoy myself.

This is objectively great news. As a guard-only, he had an uphill battle to make the roster. He beat out several veterans, including ones with multiple position eligibility, which backups absolutely need to have on O-Line. That means 1 of 2 things, or both: 1. They believe he can be a future starter at guard. 2. They thought he'd get claimed if they release him and try to get him back on the P-Squad. Pretty sweet. We might have found a steal!
