Every year I forget how irritating Bills fans are during free agency. We're only a few hours into day one of the tampering period, but I've already been reminded many times over.

Bills needed to sign a veteran tight end regardless. Only Jason Croom on the roster, and he's more of a "move" tight end. Can't just draft two rookies and expect everything to be okay. TE is a position that often takes a season or two to acclimate to NFL. I still expect them to draft a rookie on day 2.

Report - Bills Interested in WR Adam Humphries
Logic replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya, but slot WR is an important position in Daboll's offense and Humphries is an ascending player. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, though. -

Only started two games due to injury, to be fair. -

Hmm.....I think I would have been okay with Bills paying him that. Oh well. -
Yeah. Signing a top 5 all time running back still producing at a high level to a 1 year deal for peanuts. How dare they!
-
Sure LOOKS like he has some gas left in the tank. But let's all continue to kvetch about the Bills giving a tiny amount of money on a 1 year deal to a top 5 all time NFL rusher.

C Matt Paradis - to Carolina - less than Morse (3yrs at $27)
Logic replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone wanna predict how many pages the "Paradis signs with Jets" thread will get to? 55? 75? And as an added bonus, how many "Fire Beane!" comments will be contained within those pages? -

I hate to say it, but I think Paradis goes to NYJ. He has familiarity with Adam Gase, the Jets' GM is more willing to overpay than Beane, and NYC is a more attractive place to live than Buffalo. I hope I'm wrong, but I think he'll be a Jet. If so, here's hoping Bills can get Morse. -
People keep whining about Gore without mentioning that he still produced at a high level last year. A backfield featuring two probable future HOFers in Gore and McCoy. Should help from an offensive leadership standpoint, too.
-
This is hilarious. I'm just gonna put this here, and feel free to call me on it if it doesn't come true: McCoy and Gore are gonna tear it up in 2019 behind an improved offensive line and make all the people whining about this move look silly. Come 2020, the Bills will draft some youngsters at the position. Until then, it's the Medicare Express!

This signing is worth it to me for the overreactions and hand wringing alone. Side note: No NFL team in history has a better all-time backfield than the Bills: OJ Simpson Thurman Thomas Marshawn Lynch LeSean McCoy Frank Gore Cookie Gilchrist

Report - Bills interested in Frank Gore, RB
Logic replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. But the Dolphins O-line wasn't exactly gang busters. And it's not in any way EASY to average 4.5 or more YPC for ANY running back, so it shouldn't be totally disregarded. -

The Jets' GM is ***** terrible. I'm so glad they kept him around and let him hire Adam Gase. -

I'm just wondering how many of the whiners in this thread actually realize that based on Frank Gore's 2018 numbers, he would have been the Bills' leading rusher. Or that he averaged 4.6 ypc. -

Because, ya know, teams only need 3 corners and whatnot. ? -

This is why they pay him the big bucks. -
Are Bills fans cool with giving up AT LEAST a 1st and 3rd round pick? If not, forget about OBJ.

Everything you just said stems from....the Bills' reported interest in a backup running back? There are no reasonable signs that the Bills AREN'T going to be active in free agency. Their reported interest in Frank Gore CERTAINLY is not a sign of that. All I'm saying is two things: One, people need to relax and quit being so reactionary. Interest in one guy doesn't mean they WON'T have interest in others. And Two, while I expect the Bills to find a few starters and contributors in free agency (just as they have the PAST two offseasons, with a lot less money to spend), I DON'T think they're going to be reeling in big fish after big fish. It's not gonna happen. As they've said all along, they'll fill some holes, find a few starters, and continue to build through the draft. Doesn't mean they plan to take 3 more years to be good, just means they have an idea of how they want to build a sustained contender, and it may be different than how the message board GMs would build it. I'm sorry if people want to get their panties in a bunch over a RUMORED free agent interest, or if they set themselves up for disappointment by thinking the Bills were gonna land 3 or 4 of the top 10 free agents. It's not who Beane and McDermott are, and they've been telling that to anyone who would listen for 2 years now. -

I would sign him in a heartbeat. The latest Beane/McDermott reclamation project. I feel confident that McDermott could find a productive role for him on defense as a sub-package linebacker. -

Dude. This is just getting weird now. I agree with you AGAIN on this. Williams should be the big fish for the Bills. Paradis will pick NYJ, because he is familiar with Adam Gase. And throwing ludicrous money at a guy whose career high sack season was 7?! That's a hard no for me. -

You keep saying that, but it's exactly what you're doing. We're in the first 45 minutes of the tampering period, free agency isn't even officially open yet, and you're upset. And no, I DON'T understand people being puzzled. This team has shouted "We're going to build through the draft" and "we're going to be judicious in free agency" over and over. If people ignore that and expect them to go out and throw crazy money at a bunch of top free agents, they're setting THEMSELVES up for disappointment.
