  1. I doubt it. I would put the chances of his not making the roster at 1%.
  2. Personally, I think all the people that say they "don't Twitter" are missing out on good football coverage. It's pretty simple. Once you join, you just "follow" all of the Buffalo sportswriters that interest you. You don't ever actually have to "Tweet" or interact with anyone. When I scroll through my feed, it has Joe Buscaglia, Sal Capaccio, Matthew Fairburn, Tim Graham, Benjamin Albright, Daniel Jeremiah, Jon Ledyard, Cover 1, Chris Brown, etc....It's basically just a Bills/football news feed. It's indisputably the fastest way to get Bills news as it breaks. As an added bonus, if you choose to, you CAN attempt to interact with various people that you would otherwise not have the chance to. For instance, I have twice suggested articles to Sports Illustrated that I'd like to see written, and both times, I got a reply stating that they were good ideas, and the articles were then written. What other platform would give me that type of chance?
  3. It is so hard to think of just ONE all time greatest running back. It's easier (and more fun) for me to imagine my dream running back depth chart. Jim Brown Barry Sanders Thurman Thomas You've got your big bruiser, your change of pace and home run guy, and your 3rd down back and expert pass blocker. A guy can dream.
  4. The top tight end in the draft, a quality 3T, and an offensive tackle? Where do I sign up?
  5. It's all guess work, man. None of us -- not analysts, ESPN talking heads, not Kiper, not you, not me -- know how teams actually rank these guys. C'mon.
  6. What's your point? Isn't this a Bills message board?
  7. Let me just say this: It is my opinion that the Bills have the greatest "all time" running back depth chart of any NFL team. No one can touch them. OJ Simpson (HOF) Thurman Thomas (HOF) Marshawn Lynch LeSean McCoy Frank Gore (almost certain HOF) Cookie Gilchrist Given that Gore is all but certain to be a Hall of Famer (he's top 5 in all time rushing yards), what other NFL team can boast having had three HOF running backs on their roster at one time or another? Closest I can think of would be Cowboys, Raiders, Bears and Browns, but I'll take the Bills' all time running back depth chart over any other team's. Oh...and my vote for the OP goes to Jim Brown. The best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be (apologies to The Hitman).
  8. The key thing to mention is the fact that he'll soon be due for a new, expensive contract. Paying big money for running backs is going the way of the dinosaurs. And yes, I'm aware that the Bills currently pay a lot to their running backs. I expect that to change next season.
  9. It is so weird to me that you continue to stick around and talk Bills football. Isn't there a good Chiefs forum somewhere? And for your one created thread in the past several months, you chose to make a topic featuring the above bolded lines. I mean...sticking around just to troll us about our quarterback? It seems like once the Bills traded down with the Chiefs, allowing KC to take Mahomes, you gained this vested interest in the Bills and seeing how the trade turned out for both teams. Now that the hay is in the barn and we see that Mahomes is an elite talent, you continue to want to stick around and...gloat? Chime in every now and again about how the QB WE ended up with stinks? Point out in new and different ways that the Chiefs won the trade? What do you want from us?! I just really don't understand why you're here.
  10. I definitely believe that if the right offer comes in, Beane would accept it. That being said, I DON'T get the impression that they're desperate to trade down. There are lots of potential difference makers at positions of need that could be available at 9 but that they'll miss out on if they trade down too far. Oliver and the two offensive tackles, for instance. Personally, I find it more likely that they pick a player at 9 and then use some of their "extra" picks this year to move BACK up into the late 1st or back up into the 2nd to take more premium players. The sheer amount of free agents they've added and the lack of ability to find spots on the roster for 10 more players leads me to believe the Bills will draft no more than 7 players come April. As such, I don't view a trade down from 9 to be as likely as some Bills fans seem to think. Just my opinion.
  11. This coaching staff has kept a 4th running back on the depth chart solely for special teams purposes each of the past two seasons. That's what Perry is. Shouldn't/won't stop the Bills from drafting a youngster or adding an UDFA come April.
  12. Based on top 30 visits and reported Bills interest, I would suggest that the 9th pick is down to the following options (not in any particular order, because I have no idea how the Bills rank them): Jawaan Taylor, Jonah Williams, Ed Oliver, Montez Sweat, Christian Wilkins. I expect one of those five names to be called if the Bills stay at 9.
  13. I love that Brandon Beane took a guy off the Bills' board because he was late to a few meetings. Love it. If you can't even get your ***** together for the biggest job interview of your life, what are the odds that your head and heart will be in the game once the money has already flowed?
  14. I agree with you, actually. He's only 28 years old and he produced 6.5 sacks last year. Not a world beater or anything, but definitely a valuable piece for a defense. I'm surprised they couldn't get at least a 5th for him. Unless I'm in a salary cap pinch or there's behind the scenes stuff we're not aware of, I wouldn't trade a player of Quinn's caliber for a measly 6th round pick. What are the odds that the player you're going to get that late in the draft is even HALF as good as Quinn? Weird move by the Phins.
  15. We pick 9th. Kyler Murray Quinnen Williams Nick Bosa Clelin Ferrell Josh Allen Dwayne Haskins Rashan Gary Brian Burns TJ Hockenson Greedy Williams DK Metcalf Jonah Willams Jawaan Taylor All of the above guys are, depending on who you ask, ranked as high or higher than Ed Oliver in terms of value. SOMEBODY good is bound to slip to the Bills. Given Oliver's less than prototypical size, it's not unreasonable to think it could be him.
  16. If I was N'Keal Harry, I would've told Kelvin Fisher "Thank you very much for your advice, and I respect your opinion, but I have to do what's right for me and for my family." In other words, get bent.
  17. Like others said previously, the seeding in this thing was messed up. The finals should've been Bills vs Packers.
  18. @BringBackFlutie I mean...
  19. And yet...if Ryan Fitzpatrick had asked you to marry him, you would've said yes. Curious.
  20. We've officially reached the "signing guys for special teams" part of the offseason.
  21. I totally agree with this point. HOWEVER...from a physical talent standpoint, an aggressiveness standpoint, and a "potential to be great" standpoint, the Elway, Favre, Newton comparisons are not entirely off base. I think it goes without saying (or at least it should) that he has a lot of work to do to be mentioned honestly in the same breath as those guys. No one, however, should deny that he has the physical tools to achieve that level of greatness. He is quite literally one of 10 or 12 most talented QBs -- strictly from a physical and athletic standpoint -- to ever lace up his cleats in the NFL.
  22. This. Nailed it.
  23. Fair enough. I think you're probably right. It should be noted, though, for full transparency: You're a Favre hater. I don't know why. He must have peed in your Flutie Flakes or something.
  24. The main thing is that I don't think he'll ever be a Brees or a Brady, slowly matriculating the ball down the field on a regular basis. Even if/when he learns to take the gimmes and checkdowns, I think he'll always be a "No no no.........YES!!!" guy. To some extent, I think we'll always have to live with the extreme highs and the head scratching lows with Allen. I think watching him will be a lot like watching Brett Favre: Amazing plays that only he could make and memorable moments galore, but also a bunch of frustrating interceptions and questionable decisions. Me, personally? I'll take the tradeoff. No risk it, no biscuit.
  25. Interestingly, Bills fans are now in a familiar position watching their QB as they have been in recent years, but we're now on the opposite side of it. Let me explain what I mean: For years we watched the likes of Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick get off to hot starts, but then defensive coordinators would just learn to have their defenses squat on all the short and underneath stuff, daring the Bills QBs to beat them deep. The Bills' QBs couldn't do that, so it was game over for the Bills offense. Now we're on the flip side with Allen: defensive coordinators are going to take away the deep stuff, knowing that that's Allen's bread and butter. They'll want to force him to dink and dunk and beat them underneath. He has yet to show that he can do that consistently in the NFL. We already KNOW he can make the long bomb, the "wow" play, the improvisatory "how did he do that?!" play. We just haven't seen him consistently make the routine plays, the gimmes, the 4 yard gains on 1st and 2nd down. THIS is where Allen needs to improve in order to be a complete QB. Of course, I'd rather have the guy that pushes the ball down the field that you have to yell at to check down than the guy who only checks down and you have to yell at him to take chances. We've had enough Checkdown Charlies over the past 20 years in Buffalo. We finally have a gunslinger. He just needs to learn that you never go broke making a profit. And I think he WILL learn it. And the other nice thing about the defenses taking away the deep stuff is that it should open things up for the Bills' ground game considerably -- assuming the o-line can start holding its own. At the end of the day, the most informative comment I've yet heard about who Allen IS as a quarterback comes form Allen himself: When asked in college why he threw a low percentage but successful long bomb TD instead of a pass to the primary target who was running a shorter route on the play, Allen told his coach "Favre says always go for the touchdown". That stuck with me. That's Allen, and I think it always will be, for better or worse.
