  1. Yep, the testing thing is so outdated. Anyone can get tested, and in most areas tests far exceed people wanting to take them. The simple answer is the government cannot keep anyone from contacting a virus.
  2. So NY abated the worst , eh ? European virus ...lol..this guy is such an incompetent , unintelligent , lying POS.
  3. The discussion was focused on why some things are treated favorably over others , even when the effectiveness of each has been questioned. Weakness was not a word I used, and no one wants to spread this virus. Giving each other a little more personal space is not undesirable even without Covid 19. Personally, I’ve worn nitrile gloves and a face covering in every store I’ve entered since they’ve been required fwiw.
  4. Mostly due to virtue signaling. A face covering ( not common in USA before this) is a fear inducing item, and subconsciously a sign of submissiveness. It’s an extreme change, and therefore viewed as favorable. The effectiveness of gloves, on the other hand has also been questioned. Those items of PPE have been largely panned by the media. They’re just not extreme enough .The idea is to create a population that is submissive , and passive to government control.
  5. Agreed that will be part of it. I’m definitely willing ( and expecting) to pay a higher cost with no middle seat passenger. That’s a worthwhile upgrade even without WuFlu.
  6. I disagree. Some will not fly, others most definitely will. People take the NY subway every day, for example. For me personally, as soon as I can fly somewhere to get on a beach I will do so. I don’t think I’m the only one. No middle passenger and it’s fine. Turn the air overhead on blast and wipe everything down ( which I’ve done for years anyway). Instant testing is a pipe dream at the moment, and probably for a long time. Chef, I’ve been checking similar fights to STT ( though I usually stay on Sapphire Beach). Prices are decent right now. Most recent news I’ve seen is that USVI is planning for a June 1 reopening to tourists if all goes well. Beaches are open now I believe but not hotels for tourists and no flights have resumed yet. I’m expecting no middle seat passengers and perhaps some type of test before boarding stateside. Our usual is St Maarten but I think they might be closed down longer than USVI.
  7. People will fly, slowly at first but surely. ( stop calling me Shirley lol..) Just like they did after 9/11, although I’m not comparing the two. Just that the effect is the same. People need to get places; some of which you can’t drive to and others where it is logistically impractical. Most level headed people feel safe enough now. Anytime anything opens up there are/ will be people there, because they’re tired of this and know that hiding under a rock is no way to live. Just a look at the twitter shaming when folks flock to a beach will tell you this fear thing is overblown. It’s mostly a media driven narrative to the majority of the population. If the planes are being cleaned that will be enough. Heck, people were still taking that filthy subway in NYC before they even considered cleaning it once a night.
  8. This Reich is a typical leftist dill hole...Now going to work is being “ subjected “ to Coronavirus to these mental midgets. Guess what ? Covid 19 is now part of the world. We subject ourselves to the world and all of its dangers and pitfalls when we step out the front door everyday. No one can force anyone to report for work. We do that by choice. Someone can choose to stay inside and try to go on permanent disability if they really can’t cope.
  9. I don’t like these metrics because rate of hospitalization / deaths is due largely to an unhealthy population, and we are in a region where vitamin D deficiency is also common. We can have plenty of hospital capacity and still not meet the benchmark because the comorbidities are baked into a segment of the population.
  10. But, but those peeing poopers have like rights and, like liberties you know? Those rights and liberties must be protected ! They must........errrrrrrrrrr.
  11. Lol, true. You know, a couple weeks ago one of the local radio stations had an interview with a doctor about masks. He didn’t really sound all that sold on their actual effectiveness ( except N95) but more on the mental side. He said the main thing about them is that they “ remind people of what’s going on an maybe keep us a little further away from others” even if they cause us to touch our face etc. The interviewer then enthusiastically stated the virtues of everyone wearing masks. A few minutes later, another doctor was asked about gloves and they said most people don’t know how to use them properly or dispose of them. The immediate conclusion to the populace ? “ don’t wear gloves , just wash your hands ! “. Bottom line: it’s about control. Most people ( not HC professionals, obviously) aren't used to wearing masks so it makes them feel out of control and hyper-alert. Keep the people afraid, very afraid and turn them into sheeple.
  12. Trump says a lot of things that he doesn’t need to. It’s just part of the deal.
  13. I doubt that it would come back to haunt him ( largely inconsequential) , but again just my opinion.
  14. Most people paying attention realize China is pretty much a sewer.
  15. At the time did you agree with him and accept it at face value, disagree, or do a little investigating of your own to reach a conclusion ?
  16. That’s your opinion, but I do not agree. I’m going to get a PCR test this week to do my part in helping Erie County get their numbers up. I’m going to tell friends , family and acquaintances to do the same because the message isn’t getting out through the mainstream channels ( which are the only channels in WNY save for a few time slots on 930AM.).
  17. Good call ; I’ve noticed these misleading headlines in newspapers and on newspaper and tv news websites. It’s all part of the narrative. Testing ( the media’s new reason for prolonging lockdowns) has ramped up quite a bit lately and is clearly driving new data. Most areas have plenty of tests now even for asymptomatic individuals, but you wouldn’t know it by following the LSM. That’s by design, of course. Even with the ramped up testing, it’s going to be difficult to meet Cuomo’s onerous benchmarks in NY. The media isn’t helping that either. Erie county is actually begging for people to get tested. We are about 300 people per day short of hitting Cuomo’s marks. Antibody testing isn’t even part of his formula. The local news websites headlines are all about where to get an antibody test, and proclaiming they are now available. It requires some digging to find info on getting a PCR test , and that’s the test that Erie County needs more people to go and get if they are to reopen the County. The media is once again complicit in this.
  18. I Agree. Romo tells us what a team should be doing in any given situation in real time. He explains why a play worked and what was excellent about a player’s performance, or what was bad about it if it didn’t. He’s just about always right. As a game analyst, Romo is pretty great.
  19. Yep, flakes flying around this AM when I went out to get coffee. 32 degrees and we’re a few weeks from Memorial Day. Someone didn’t get the memo about global warming lol.
  20. On a review, I’ll admit you have a point. Still, at minimum this should have gone to a grand jury to determine if charges should be brought against the two men. I guess it’s possible it was in the works and then everything closed down due to the virus. What info I’ve seen about the DA makes him appear questionable.
  21. It appears that the USA as a whole is doing above average, but containment in the NYC area was woefully mismanaged. Both can be true. Also, are deaths a gauge of the medical system in NYC or a reflection of the general health of a population in a geographic area ? As a whole with a couple outliers, the USA is doing pretty well. Hindsight, right ? Cuomo didn’t stockpile ventilators in 2015 and the Obama admistration didn't stockpile N95s. The country can learn from these things.
  22. From an analytical standpoint, it absolutely is skewing. No one is saying the people in NYC don’t count, but America is a more vast land area than Italy. In terms of lifting lockdowns in a data driven way, NYC ( and the New Jersey area) is an outlier. Comparing the galvanization of the USA post 9-11 to Coronavirus in order to diminish those who question local government restrictions is intellectually dishonest at best.
  23. I agree, but the liberal politicians are thinking it through. It’s a planned destruction of the economy coupled with a mental beat down and manipulation of the populace. Cuomo and other Governors are joining forces. Irrational fear is being pushed along with social shaming to suspend our liberties, and to label the rational and motivated as pariahs. Entrepreneurs as selfish, heartless killers. The goal is to win the November election , then implement a massive expansion of government. Those allowed to be employed will largely work from home; small businesses will shrink and huge swaths of the population will be forced onto government benefits. This will be achieved through the current brainwashing of those who watch the LSM news; any further deaths by Covid 19 must be avoided at any cost- even the dismantling of the country - to achieve a “ greater good”. It is sold as the “ morally superior “ choice , and any who disagree are an uncaring minority who must be punished. A new, more “ socially just “ and “ economically equal” country where more accept less must be “ reimagined” due to the virus.
  24. I’ve seen tix on Bills side lower level corners from $160-200 or so. Not too bad. Hotels and other accommodations are probably tough right now, but I haven’t checked. Looking forward to attending a Bills game this year when and where fans are able to do so. Nashville of course is a great place for a Bills road trip weekend, along with some other areas on the Bills schedule this year. I’m a bit disappointed that @MIA is so early in September, as it’s not the best time to hit South Beach. Vegas might be a substitute for Miami this season, and either way I’d guess those interested in attending a Bills game as soon as possible should look to the road games first.
