  1. The Pegula’s hired these guys to carry out their plan. They have a plan, and it should be readily apparent by now to all but the willfully blind what that is. They want talented guys that love to play football, who prioritize football, who constantly look to improve. When they got here, they figured out who they saw as fitting their plan and those who didn’t. They cleared out guys who didn’t fit like Dareus and Sammy, cleared out guys they didn’t think could get them where they wanted like TT, some guys left as FAs like Gilmore and Woods. They knew they had some bloated contracts and ripped the bandaid off quickly vs. slowly as far as the cap. Now they have an admirable cap situation. They want to focus on the draft to build their team. They have two young guys they think are their long term leaders on both sides of the ball in Allen and Edmunds. Yes, they could have taken Watson (the guy I wanted) or Mahomes (whom no one saw having the kind of year he had last year). But they now have their guy, and an AllPro CB (what ever happened to all the clamor about having to have a shut down CB?). They continue to add talent. Obviously their future is locked into their personnel decisions. But the constant whining about it, and how they should be gone so soon if they don’t have a winner right now is just so damn tiresome. First of all, they made the playoffs year one, and spare me the crap about how that was lucky. Second, they knew they were taking a big cap hit year 2. Third, look at the most continually successful NFL organizations. They have agreement between HC and GM on philosophy (unless it’s Belichick who has total control). They have sustained growth. They can focus on drafting the guys that fit what they want, same with FAs. The Pats, Steelers, Seahawks, all have those kinds of models and they work. Do you have to make changes sometimes? Sure. I live outside Indy and the Colts knew they had to, but in Frank and Ballard they have the same type guys as McD and Beane. The Rams? They look good right now, but they have given up a lot of draft picks, and will have to make difficult contract decisions. They have a shot right now, but is that model sustainable? Doubtful; the Bills have a more long term sustained strategy. i get some don’t like their strategy. But let’s just see how it plays out instead of assuming it won’t. Why some assume it won’t is mystifying.
  2. It has not failed if they go 8-8. Stop with the hysteria.
  3. They go say 8-8 this year the fans are not going to abandon the team. And changing coaches and GMs ever 2-3 years is not a ormula for success. You need a reality check
  4. Their fan base not tolerating it, as a reason for them to do something different? Laughable.
  5. And Moorman was great in the community. A very deserving name.
  6. Butch Byrd should be up there from the AFL teams. Tony Greene would be another worthy name. Fred Jackson. I presume the Pegulas are communicating with Ralph’s family on names?
  7. Great player and I will always remember being in the Rockpile as a kid for the Hit Heard Round the World. And yeah, probably too soon. Sympathies to his family.
  8. You ask about other teams like the Browns and Chargers and how good their drafts were. Apparently they stunk because neither of them drafted Mahomes or Watson, and it seems that is the only criteria you use to judge that draft year.
  9. Peterman didn’t work out. They got a an elite CB, really good OLB, starting LT, and starting WR. Or do we now only grade drafts on 5th round QBs?
  10. Peterman was a bad call and Beane admitted they should have brought in a vet when McCarron didn’t work out. Peterman has nothing to do with any point you’re trying to make.
  11. Logic is sometimes a scarce commodity around here.
  12. Which has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Smith took valuable first team reps away from Mahomes in his rookie year too by your logic.
  13. By how the guys you draft perform. Try to follow along.
  14. You see how your guys did. I can nitpick every team’s drafts and make a case they did terribly because they took one guy over another. And comparing a first round pick to a fifth with Mahomes vs. Peterman is absurd. They didn’t draft Peterman to be a franchise guy.
  15. Your rantings do not negate the intent of the thread, that the 2017 draft was pretty good.
  16. Ok. Mahomes has a great year. Have it your way. It’s one year. One non championship year. And don’t give me the crap about bad calls to prop him up. Good for him. But there is is not one single individual on this board before the draft who knew he’d be that good last year. You say you did you’d be lying.
  17. One of the worst trades ever. Because one guy had one really good year? Andvthe other team got a great CB and position to draft another promising young QB? Right. Let the adults talk here sonny and quit overreacting.
  18. If it was obvious, you would not have said what you said. I wanted Watson, I think Allen will be as good as him, and anyone saying they knew before the draft that Mahomes would do what he did last year is lying.
  19. I evaluate drafts on how good the guys that were picked played, not by whom you could have drafted. Every team in the league would be lousy drafters then because every team misses out on guys that turn into stars.
  20. For the fans living in WNY that want to get rid of Schopp (and I can’t blame you, I’ve listened a couple times on line and he’s unbearable), find out who his biggest advertisers are, and don’t patronize them. And make sure they know why.
  21. Maddy, welcome to the Bills and Sabres. I wish you every success in your job, and look forward to your reports. And as the father of two daughters, I am sure you ignore some of the sexist crap posted here because you've heard it before as have my daughters, but my apologies for the Neanderthals who post that kind of nonsense. Now, as for the important stuff: Ted's (hot sauce and onions), Bocce's (pepperoni with extra cheese), Beef on Weck (you'll hear several names, try them all!!), and Wings (again you'll hear various opinions, try them all but I'm a Duff's guy myself).
  22. I wanted Watson, said so at the time. I think Allen will be as good. And anyone who says that Mahomes, a guy coming out of the single read offense at Tech, a place that had never produced an NFL level consistent starter, a guy who had a lot of questions about footwork, would have had the kind of year he had last year is lying.
  23. Why don’t you finally just have the stones to admit you want the Bills to lose so you can crow about it on a message board? Some of his predictions are puzzling (like the Jets; Gase is a good HC??) but all meaningless. No reason to get worked up about it.
  24. The big question in Browns land is whether a guy who has never been a HC on any level can deal with the personalities on the team.
