  1. I agree with this. But completion percentage has more to do with reading defenses, adequate protection, receivers running good routes and showing good hand and such than it does accuracy.
  2. He is trying to reinvent himself as a TE. Having him come in for a day to check him out is not a big deal. They're looking for a blocking type TE, so spending a few hours evaluating the guy isn't a nightmare.
  3. Happy birthday coach. Have a slice of cake, then get back to work!
  4. They're working him out to see if it's worth inviting him to camp.
  5. Another guy who does not get that completion percentage is not accuracy. Read the thread before commenting. Within it you'll see why. Just as an example why, if a QB makes 30 throws in a game and has two drops by receivers and one throwaway, it moves him from 52% to the magical 60% so many want if those are taken out. Those have nothing to do with accuracy.
  6. Fun list you've put together. Brings back tons of memories. i might sub Dobler in for Schlereth. I don't think Schlereth bit people.
  7. Jack Tatum has to be one of the safeties. And Joe Don Looney should receive strong consideration at RB.
  8. I'd put Hornung and Karras in there somewhere.
  9. I said above I don't have much problem with Rodak, probably because I don't read his stuff very much. I can understand some thinking he puts negative spins on things, I just try to ignore that myself. The problem I have with guys like Graham is they provide opinions, open themselves to feedback because they publish their emails and Twitter feeds looking for comment, then act like jerks when someone comments. With respect to scooping, etc., granted I am old fashioned but this is where the social media, 24/7 thing screws up journalism. In the haste to try and be first, there is no more true investigation and confirmation of things before posting,
  10. It is worth note that Rodak and Graham have different jobs. Rodak is a beat reporter assigned to the Bills. He should report on what's going on, and not editorialize and offer opinions. That is more the role of a columnist, which Graham is.
  11. The fallacy that completion percentage equals accuracy has been dealt with many times. They are not the same. Again why you choose to ignore that is a mystery. And where exactly do you get 48%?
  12. There have been numerous posts and analyses on this board demonstrating the fallacy of this accuracy issue and how Allen was similar to other young QBs. You choose to ignore them. Why I have no idea.
  13. Let the kid play and develop. Don't go overboard when he makes a great play and don't start with the he's a bust crap if he makes a bad one. Look long term and not short term. Oh, and panic over a QB? I'll save panic mode for things like a call in the middle of the night from the police when my daughter hasn't come home, or when my doctor tells me we need to talk. Let's keep some perspective here.
  14. Can I get your thoughts on this? I see many if not all reporters invite readers to correspond via email or Twitter. Do you do that voluntarily or is it a requirement of the job? And while I agree your respondents should keep it reasonable and not take personal shots, is the reverse also true? I ask the latter beacuse I have tried a couple times to disagree with a columnist and have a dialog only to get back snarky coermnts like "if you don't like it don't read my stuff". If that's the attitude, why provide contact info?
  15. I think each team is pleased with whom they have.
  16. Can you help explain then the experience many have had when they try to engage and are belittled by the reporter?
  17. Do organizations like the News, ESPN, the Athletic, etc. have rules that mandate their reporters be accessible via social media and/or email? If not, maybe the solution for writers is to simply not participate on Twitter or provide email addresses for comments. This of course does not excuse people being complete morons on social media, but if you are a reporter and open yourself to comments from readers you have to expect some negative comments back towards your writing.
  18. We belong to the Disney Vacation club so we go down to Disney World a lot, and the family always picks one day to what we call "represent". We wear our Bills stuff and see how many other fans we can find during the day. We always see a ton of other fans any time we're there.
  19. Agreed. The incident with EJ prompted my email to him where he got all snarky. I felt he made himself part of the story, and to me journalists should not do that.
  20. So I live just outside Indy now, and my 23 year old daughter was born and raised here. But I raised her as a Bills fan, and she is as rabid as anyone I grew up with. One of my proudest parent moments was when she was in elementary school and they would have Colts Spirit Day on the Fridays before games. She would proudly wear her Bills gear every Friday. And maybe tied with that was her one woman show in college (she's majored in music theater and is a performer now), when she altered the lyrics to Adeline's Lament from Guys and Dolls and made it into a tribute to Bills fans. Need to get her in with Bills marketing to sing the anthem at a home game... As for me, proudly wear my Bills varsity jacket all winter, and am rarely without something Bills related on my person. Don't get much hassle, and if I do I hold my head high.
  21. Answer this question for me. Do players ever improve with experience in the league, or do they never improve over what they do as rookies?
  22. I emailed Graham one time to offer comment about an article he wrote about EJ. And his response was immature and frankly nasty. Let me ask this: if reporters don't want interaction with readers why do they go on Twitter and why at the end of their columns do they put their emails and ask for comments?
  23. Tell you what. Read one of his articles, email him and challenge him on it, and we'll see if you think he'd be entertaining when you get his response. I have no problem with columnists being critical (although just being incessantly negative gets old). But Graham, Sullivan, and Gleason all were the same; dare to offer an opinion that differed from theirs and all they'd do is resort to insult vs, have an actual intellectual debate. They should not be missed by anyone.
  24. Entertaining until you dare to suggest he might be wrong on something. Then he acts like a three year old. A very talented writer but a child in some ways.
