  1. I think he’s probably been their most consistent player so far this year. I hope they can sign him to a reasonable extension.
  2. thanks! I tried it using the original x.com link (posted it and hit enter) and also tried it when I changed it to Twitter.com is it different on mobile? (I’m using an iPad) it used to work for me then it stopped when it changed to x.com. Then I was able to get that to work for a while by changing it to Twitter.com and hitting enter. But now none of the methods I try seem to work anymore.
  3. https://twitter.com/BuffaloSabres/status/1723013868706783546?s=20 Savoie making his debut tonight! edit - can someone tell me how to embed tweets now? i tried changing the link to Twitter.com before I posted it but it didn’t embed. https://x.com/BuffaloSabres/status/1723013868706783546?s=20 https://twitter.com/BuffaloSabres/status/1723013868706783546?s=20
  4. I am not feeling overly optimistic about getting a win tonight. The Sabres haven’t won an away game against Carolina since 2016! https://mcubed.net/nhl/buf/car.shtml This is one of those teams that gives the Sabres fits. edit - they lost in OT. At least they got a point.
  5. Everyone always talks about Buffalo being at a disadvantage when it comes to recruiting players but I always said that I thought it could be used to our benefit (if they ever built a winning team) and I feel like this regime shares that view. You aren’t going to attract players looking for the nice weather or night life and big party scenes but that’s a good thing. Anyone coming to Buffalo (now) is coming to play football and try to chase a championship. There’s also a lot less off field distractions in Buffalo vs big cities and as Josh Allen said, because of there being less to do off the field it gives teammates a chance to hang out more and become closer.
  6. I am the same way with dogs. I feel like I just get them (better than humans sometimes. lol). Working with dogs is just something I very much enjoy. I am very big into training them and have spent years studying and learning their language (like what different gestures and behaviors, etc, mean). I can pretty easily read a dog’s body language and gestures/behaviors. It’s so much easier to train and communicate with them once you learn how they “speak”. Anyway… Yeah, losing a pet sucks. I’ve owned dogs my entire life and it never gets any easier to lose one. My condolences on your loss. My best advise is get another dog as soon as you feel ready (IMO, as soon as possible). I don’t mean that to sound cold in any way. I know No new dog can ever replace the one you lost but it can sure help fill that void they left. I lost all 3 of my dogs over a 3 year span back about 8 years ago and it was awful. After the 3rd passed away I swore I wouldn’t get another dog for a while. I made it 2 weeks and decided to just go to the SPCA just to “look”. Well, I adopted a dog and it was the best thing I did to help me heal. Don’t look at it as “replacing” your previous dog. Like I said, no dog can do that. They all have their own unique personalities. No dog will ever be the same as the one you lost. But getting a new dog really helps fill the void. The house is just sooo empty when you’re used to having animals. Getting a new dog brings that life back to the home and gives you something new to focus on. You will still miss your old dog but it really helps getting a new pet. Anyway, that would be my suggestion. I’d also suggest adopting from the SPCA (especially if you live in a state that kills their shelter dogs) or an online group that rescues dogs. Then you get the added reward of knowing you helped save a dog’s life. My most recent rescue came from a kill shelter in Virginia. He was scheduled to be put down in days (before I got him). It still makes me so sad to think that anyone would even think about putting this dog down. He’s probably the smartest dog I’ve ever owned, and maybe the most trainable dog I’ve ever owned too. He was a bit high strung when I first got him but he just needed a little training and direction. He’s so eager to please but he didn’t respond well to certain training methods, and trying to yell would actually make him get More hyper (I try never to yell at my dogs anyway, it’s unnecessary IMO). He just needed to understand what was being asked of him and once I found the right method the change was drastic.
  7. It’s being reported by multiple sources that the 49ers traded one of their two upcoming 3rd round comp picks for Chase Young. https://twitter.com/MaioccoNBCS/status/1719434535698616499?s=20 https://twitter.com/albertbreer/status/1719428975250768379?s=61&t=mvFwLU5P2NuqNnOmVpYtwg https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/commanders-trade-chase-young-49ers-round-pick/story?id=104524725#:~:text=The 49ers are projected to,sent to Washington for Young. So maybe you can trade them before they are officially issued? Unless it’s being reported wrong. I know they changed the rules 5-6 years ago to allow teams to trade comp picks but I don’t know the specific rules on it.
  8. Good point! and they replaced Edmunds with a much cheaper LB that’s played very well.
  9. My favorite way of looking at the trade compensation: I saw someone say “we got Rasul Douglas and a 5th for letting Tremaine Edmunds walk (3rd round comp pick).” I am assuming the Bills traded their own 3rd and not the comp pick, but it still kind of holds true since we will still have a 3rd this year from Edmunds.
  10. Great game today by the Sabres! They kept the pressure on Colorado all game. UPL with his first NHL shut-out. Wasn’t expecting that against Colorado! lol
  11. I’d usually be excited that Kansas City lost. But this year I don’t think the Bills have any real chance at the #1 seed so I don’t think this KC loss will really matter. Still glad they lost though!
  12. Yes. I enjoy just being able to relax and watch a football game. When I watch Bills games I am usually stressed out for much of the game (unless it’s a blowout). Where as when I watch other teams I can just sit back and enjoy the game. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy watching the Bills win more than I enjoy watching other teams play. I just mean it’s less stressful watching other teams play.
  13. I said it at the beginning of the season and I still feel the same way - Just make the playoffs and peak at the right time. I don’t care about winning the division as much as I do about wanting the Bills to be playing their best football entering the playoffs. Last season I felt like they peaked too early in the season then limped into the playoffs. I’d much rather struggle earlier in the season if they’re able to put it all together for the playoffs. I never really thought making the playoffs would be in question though. Now I’m not so sure.
  14. Great game last night. Now that’s what I’ve been waiting for. It seems like the team listened to Erik Johnson. There was a better defensive effort by everyone. He seems like he’s going to be a valuable addition to the leadership group. It’s also nice having young players that seem willing to listen to experienced veterans, unlike the previous captain…
  15. https://twitter.com/llysowski/status/1715859340467314873?s=61&t=mvFwLU5P2NuqNnOmVpYtwg Not sure if it’s partly due to injury or what but I’m glad to see Levi getting a break. Let’s hope Comrie plays well.
  16. Erik Johnson mentioned that in his post game interview. He seems like he’s going to be a good influence for the younger players (as long as they listen to him). I love listening to his interviews. He definitely has a future in coaching and/or development if he wants it.
  17. Yeah, I am left trying to understand the point of keeping 3 goalies on the roster if they don’t even trust the other 2 to get spot starts… 🤷‍♂️
  18. Yeah it looks clear Levi needs a break. I sure hope they aren’t planning to try and get 50(+) games out of him because that seems like a disaster waiting to happen. At most he should get 50% of the games, if that. He’s a 21yr old rookie stepping into the NHL straight from college (which is almost unheard of).
  19. https://twitter.com/mysportsupdate/status/1713948741198061994?s=61&t=mvFwLU5P2NuqNnOmVpYtwg jets won their super bowl last night, apparently. Edit - how do you embed tweets now? I tried changing it to Twitter.com before I posted the link but it still didn’t embed.
  20. Yep. They both play (boring) styles of defense that always seem to give the Sabres trouble. They aren’t good when teams take away all their time and space to create.
  21. I thought Tage was bad in game one and a bit better against the islanders but still not good enough. Tuch and Skinner look invisible so far. Hopefully it’s not one of Skinner’s down years. Right now he looks like the bad version of Skinner. Greenway/Mittelstadt/Benson has been by far their best line the first 2 games. I’ve been impressed with Greenway. He looks a LOT better than last season. Mittelstadt has been Buffalo’s best center. And Benson is staying for more than 9 games if he keeps playing like he has. You could argue that Benson has looked like the Sabres best player (during preseason and the first 2 games). Peterka has been decent. I’ve thought Cozens has looked like crap though. Clifton looked lost again. I hope it’s just growing pains in a new system. He went from a team known for great structure and team defense (Boston) to a team that’s basically the opposite (Buffalo). I thought Levi looked pretty good after that first goal. I also thought the Sabres looked bette in general in the 2nd and 3rd period. The officiating was atrocious. The NYI got away with crap all game long. I thought that 3rd goal was Offside. He didn’t have possession of the puck when he crossed the blue line. He didn’t touch the puck again until both skates were clearly across the line. Definitely a disappointing start to the season but I’m trying not to overreact. Yet. lol
  22. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-new-york-rangers-game-preview-october-12-2023-season-opener-owen-power-rasmus-dahlin forward lines and d pairings for tonight. ⬆️ Zach Benson making his debut and it looks like Levi is starting.

  24. Opening night!!!! I am really excited for this season. I actually plan to watch every game I can. That’s the first time I’ve said that before a season in at least a couple/few years now. I used to always watch every game, every interview, etc. but all the losing just killed my interest. Now I’m back to being excited My only real concern is goaltending. I’m not 100% sold on Clifton and EJ but I do feel better knowing they at least addressed the defense. Goaltending feels like a huge gamble to me. Honestly, I still can’t believe we are entering the season with a 21yr old rookie set to be their #1 with no real backup plan outside of the 2 guys that already failed last season (and neither were even able to lock down a backup role this preseason, which doesn’t make me feel too good about either of them at the moment). Don’t get me wrong, I am hopeful Levi is up to the task. But it’s hard not to be worried about the plan, especially when there’s so few 21yr old goalies that have stepped into starting roles in the NHL right from college and even fewer that have done well. We obviously all hope Levi is different and up to the challenge but it sure would’ve been nice to have a legit backup plan.
  25. With all of the turnover on the business side of the Bills and Sabres, it’s hard not to feel like the Pegulas are difficult to work for/please. I’d be curious to see how the turnover compares to other NFL teams. edit - can’t blame this one on Pegula. A boss can’t be sleeping with employees…
