  1. Sweet! So we get either their 2019 or 2020 1st round pick. My dream scenario is that they miss the playoffs by a hair next year and decide to keep it. Then they really struggle the following season and are forced to give Buffalo a top 10 pick! lol I know, very unlikely. But I can dream... Either way, at least we (hopefully) salvage something from that damn Kane trade.
  2. Damn. The BN Sabres coverage is going to suck if Harrington is the main guy writing for them now. Always like Vogl and (usually) enjoyed reading his stuff. Why couldnt Harrington, Sully, Bucky (etc) seek a voluntary buyout?! lol
  3. I was just coming here to post this. Love it! Losing Hunter is a big blow. They would have Noah Hanifin instead of Mitch Marner if not for him (not that Hanifin isn't a damn good young defenseman, but he hasn't been on Marner's level so far). The leafs wouldn't have a lot of the talent they do without Hunter. Now it's all up to Dubas... Itll be really interesting to see how he and Babcock work together, without Hunter & Lou (2 old school "hockey" people). Now its all on 32yr old Dubas to keep Babs from steamrolling right over him. In my opinion, this is the first real move that Shanahan has made (hiring Dubas) that opens him up for criticism. I mean, he had no real choice but to make a decision between hunter and Dubas (unless the kicked the can and kept Lou as GM a couple more years). But Time will tell if it was the right one.
  4. I would think that this makes it more likely Tavares re-signs in NY. I think if they hadn't made some sort of move at or above the GM, he would have been much more likely to leave. Glad Lou's not staying in Toronto though. Now allwe need is Mark Hunter to leave for another NHL team or return to the London Knights and I'll be damn happy! lol Hunter is so good at finding talent in the draft. Him leaving would be a big blow to Toronto IMO. I don't have as much faith in Kyle Dubas as others do. He hasn't really impressed me all that much yet. Yeah, he helped turn around I thought he got totally taken to school in that Kessel trade (Toronto is still retaining money on Kessel for 4 more years (7 total)), and that trade he made when he was running the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was pretty questionable too. He traded 2 players and SEVEN draft picks to get a goalie - Jack Campbell - to play in front of Matt Murray (you know, the guy who was a huge reason the Penguins won back to back cups ... lol).
  5. I said all along that I didn't believe Richie was "retiring" for health reasons and that there was obviously more going on there. As I said before, if he had really retired for health reasons the Bills would have congratulated him on his NFL career, like they did with E. Wood. Not at all surprised Incognito unretired and forced the Bills hand. I figured this would happen. I just thought it'd happen around training camp.
  6. I can hear both words in the original recording. It just depends on what pitch you focus your ears on.
  7. Let me know if you have any more questions. I like discussing this kind of stuff.
  8. Ok. So # of HDMI ports shouldn't be an issue then. Sounds like you are only using 1 right now. Maybe 2 if you hook your receiver up via HDMI. Both of those TV's have at least 3 (not that you can't just buy an HDMI port anyway, if you needed more). I dont know th number of 4k HDMI ports those TV have. I didn't see it listed. As far as sxreen mirroring or streaming from an apple product, I don't know of any Sony, LG, Samsung TVs that do that'll hand (aony will mirror android IIRC). Apple isn't widely compatible with a lot of stuff. It's not that big a deal though. You can buy aftermarket products that will hook up to the TV. You have to get something like Apple TV (which has Apple AirPlay), or another similar device to hook up to your TV if you want to mirror wirelessly. Or you can just buy a cheap Digital AV adaptor (for like $15-$25) that plugs into your iPhone and connects to a HDMI port on the TV. You may also just be able to download a (DNLA) app right on the TV but I'm not sure on that. I know it can be done, but I'm not sure if you can on every TV, or if there's an app for Apple devices). Personally, for the price range of the TVs you listed, I would suggest one more along the lines of this - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-65-class-led-x850e-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/5748206.p?skuId=5748206 Its the same price but 65" instead of 70". You get quite a few more features though. It has a picture processor (the 690 does not) which is important because almost nothing is broadcast in 4k HD right now. What that processor does is upscale regular HD content to as close to 4K HD quality as it can. So it should make most of your TV content look better than a TV without the processor. And that is what Sony TVs are known for. They have the best processors in the industry. It also has "super bit mapping" which should give better sound quality, and a triluminous display which will give a wider spectrum of colors, and more natural shades of those colors. It has Google Chromecast built in, as well as Alexa voice enabled. And has something called miracast which allows you to mirror certain devices (not Apple though). But the 690 has miracast too. The 850 is just a much nicer tv compared to the 690 in my opinion. Here is the comparable Samsung TV (to the Sony 850). It is on clearance right now since it's last year's model. Same price as the Sony. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-65-class-led-mu8000-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/5773800.p?skuId=5773800 best thing I can suggest is going to Best Buy or another store and comparing them in person. I don't suggest Walmart. I am not sure but I believe their Sony TVs are cheaper versions, or the Chinese knock offs. Best Buy has all the TVs on display. You may see that 55" LG OLED TV and decide you'd rather have a 55" with that type of picture quality. Or you may love the bigger Sony/Samsung. Most of the name brand TVs all put out a great product these days, so I doubt you'll go wrong with whatever you get.
  9. They both look like nice TVs. Let me ask - what's important to you in a new TV? What are you looking for? What type of features do you want? Also, do you game? Watch lots of movies? Mainly just watch basic tv? What devices, and how many total, will be hooked hooked up to the TV? (Ex - blue ray players, DVD players, game systems, receiver/sound system etc etc) just trying to get a better idea of what you want/need.
  10. Good. I hope that's true. That's the way it should be IMO. Theres no no reason to give ROR away just for the sake of change. He's a heck of a good player. One of the best 2 way C'a in the NHL. Unless Botterill gets a package back that clearly makes the Sabres a better team, I don't see a reason to move ROR. Thrres a lot of other guys higher on my list (to move) than O'Reilly.
  11. This article also seems to imply that it was down to Allen or Mayfield for the Browns. Or at least implies they like Allen a lot -
  12. I've read it reported a few places now. They were talking about it on NFL network after the draft, too.
  13. Yolo - I don't know if it's true but I heard/read that it was down to either Mayfield or Allen for the Browns at #1. Mayfield seems to feel that it was down to he or Allen for the Browns, too.
  14. Wow he handled that very well. Whoever that was asking questions is an idiot.
  15. Good post. Amazing what a little context does.
  16. That was such a great game. I was very impressed with Tua, and also with the way Daboll just changed his offense on the fly like that (when Tua came in the game). It was almost like a completely different offense from the 1st half.
  17. Much of what I've seen from Jerry Zremski is him just reporting the actual details of a story and/or facts. I guess thats considered "bashing" these days? lol
  18. Nice! they kind of let it slip during Bruce's retirement, that Thurman's would be coming soon. So I'm not surprised. But it's still long overdue!
  19. I have zero issue with Zremski. I actually think he's quite good. But Bucky + Sully + Harrington drive me mad. They just seem way too jaded by all the years of losing.
  20. Ah, I get it now. That is why guys like Mike Harrington are so thin skinned & argumentative with everyone on twitter. He is "interacting" with users.... lol.
  21. Most of the 4K TV's have some type of 4K upscaling. But Sony's is pretty much universally considered to be the best in the industry. Their upscaling, motion processing etc. are all considered to be the best. That is one reason why I recommended that x900f model with the x1 extreme chip. That is the same chip that's in Sony's Z9D TV series (which start at like 4 grand). I would take take a ride to Best Buy and look at Tvs yourself. Look at some models and then do your own research (sites like Rtings are great for tv comparison). I wouldn't put too much stock into what the salesmen say. Every time I go a salesman will tell me something different. Half the time I feel like I've actually done more research than them. But go and look at these Tvs in person. See which one looks the best to you. Heres another one one I wanted to mention. It's an OLED tv (as opposed to an LED tv) which is most likely the next evolution in TVs. Instead of having a backlight with dimming zones, they have millions of individual pixels that turn on and off individually. So you get excellent black levels and picture quality. I personally don't like LG as much as Sony, but these TVs get excellent reviews, and an OLED TV's picture is a step up compared to an LED tv. It's definitely at least worth looking at for the price, as its the Same price as the Sony I linked earlier. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-55-class-oled-b7a-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/5935300.p?skuId=5935300 Best Buy has them both on display. Go see them in person (assuming you have a Best Buy near you). I would look at Samsung TVs too. LG, Sony and Samsung are considered to be the 3 big TV makers and all make quality TVs. I prefer Sony, since I've had such good luck with them. But I haven't owned Samsung or LG. Lots of people love them. I'm not familiar with the TCL tv mentioned in this thread either. But it did get some pretty decent reviews on rtings - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/p-series-2017-p607 (You check this site for any TV you are interested in. They review them all)
  22. I am a big Sony TV guy (as you can probably tell if you've read back through this thread). I still have my Sony HDTV from 2007-08 and I swear that it still looks as good as any new 1080p tv I see in the stores today. it was an expensive tv when I bought it, but it has 100% been worth it. I know this is a bit more than you are looking to spend, but this is the TV I'd recommend to you - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-55-class-led-x900f-series-2160p-smart-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-hdr/6179727.p?skuId=6179727 it has many of the same features as Sony's top of the line $4000 tvs. They do have a 49" version of that tv for $1099. Either that, or I'd look for last year's model (x900e). I believe the 55" is around $1000 (or less), if they have any left. They also have an 800 series that is a bit cheaper, but still a good tv IMO. Just not quite as many features as the 900 series. Both the 800 and 900 series are 4K HD (which is a big step up from 1080p HD).
