  1. I thought Kesler was a typo. Figured he meant Kessel or someone. LOL if he actually said Kesler. Ryan Kesler is most likely out for the entire 2019-20 season already, and may be done playing all together. https://www.latimes.com/sports/ducks/la-sp-ryan-kesler-ducks-surgery-20190513-story.html And he’s owed almost $7M a year for 3 more years. I loved Kesler back in the day, but he hasn’t been the same player for years now between the back and hip injuries, and may in fact be completely done. Plus he has a no trade clause and loves Anaheim. Nobody is trading for Kesler unless it’s as a cap dump after he’s on permanent LTIR.
  2. Chris Brown saying it looks like Beasley and Morse had hernia surgeries. Says Russel Bodine is still recovering from his shoulder surgery, so now Spencer Long is the starting center. Wucks. I really wanted to see Josh build chemistry with Morse. Hopefully he’s not out too long here.
  3. Does this add 2 years into his current deal, making it 3 years total that the Bills have him under contract?
  4. He definitely fits the type of character/personality the Bills look for. Great teammate, great in the community, very passionate about football, always has an upbeat attitude. IMO He would definitely fit the new culture here perfectly. But I am not sure if the Bills will have interest now. If this happened before the draft I think they’d probably have jumped quicker than now. But I hope they do at least bring him in for a visit (if he’s interested). He’s not what he used to be on the field, but he’s still one of my favorite personalities in football.
  5. Marrone tried him there and it didn’t last long. I believe he threw a bit of a temper tantrum because he was coming up on his next contract and wanted to be paid as a left tackle, not a RT. So maybe he didn’t give it his all? I don’t know. But I remember that he didn’t last long on the right side and reported were that he really struggled.
  6. https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/adam-gase-rookie-orientation-press-conference-5-10 Looka like Gase figured out a way to hide those crazy eyes of his.... lol
  7. I’m guessing his uncle’s relationship with frank Reich is a huge reason why he got this 1 more chance. He needs to be a total choir boy with Indy. Chris Ballard won’t tolerate anything from Kelly. He’s a big “character” guy, like Beane. If he doesn't do well both on and off the field, I agree, this is probably it for Kelly. He does have a chance to start rehabbing his image though. If he does that and flashes his talent on the field, someone could take a shot on him again if he doesn’t stick in Indy. We will see, I guess. I am not sure if Chad is capable of being as well behaved as he’s going to need to be to stick in Indy.
  8. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/05/20/colts-sign-quarterback-chad-kelly/ Colts finally signed Chad
  9. Starting a new Sabres thread. The old one was getting long. Edit - here is a link to the Sabres 2019/20 schedule: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/schedule/2020-03-01/ET
  10. It must be nice to own a business where no matter how terribly you run it (year after year after year), you just keep making cash hand over fist...
  11. Once again thanks for doing this stevewin. It’s a good read every time. Appreciate the effort it takes to do this for us.
  12. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2016/09/28/ralph-krueger-world-cup-southampton-football-club/91240876/ Another good article on Krueger from a few years ago.
  13. Love all the info @john wawrow. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Fellow coaches expect Krueger to thrive, adjust with Sabres https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2019/05/16/fellow-coaches-expect-krueger-to-thrive-adjust-with-sabres/comment-page-1/#comment-609047
  15. I really, really hope there’s some truth to this. Vellucci would be a huge get, in my opinion. He just won the AHL coach of the year award. Charlotte had their best season in club history and it was also the 10th best season in AHL history. He is widely thought of as of as an eventual NHL head coach. http://gocheckers.com/articles/features/mike-vellucci-named-winner-of-louis-a-r-pieri-award-as-ahl-s-outstanding-coach He is also assistant GM in carolina but I am almost positive that his contract is expiring so I believe the hurricanes can’t block him. Their owner is also a big cheapskate when it comes to coaching and front office salaries, so we should be able to offer more money I would think. For example, Steve Greeley, our assistant GM, interviewed for their GM job. He got a 2nd interview and turned down the GM job in part because he was offered less than what he makes as AGM here (the rumored offer was around $400-600k iirc). I doubt he’s even making $1M as the combined AGM and AHL Head Coach.
  16. “The Strength of a Continent” BY JAROSLAV HALÁK NOV 8 2016 https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/world-cup-of-hockey-jaroslav-halak-team-europe Its about his time with team europe.
  17. Who actually broke the Edmonton Oilers Department of Player Personnel and how Ralph Krueger could fix it: 9 Things https://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/the-combination-of-ralph-krueger-and-keith-gretzky-would-transform-how-player-personnel-is-handed-in-the-oilers-organization-9-things Matches up with what I’ve read elsewhere - that many Oilers p,Ayers had their best performances under Krueger.
  18. Ralph Krueger: I've 52 stitches in my face. Believe me, I can be ruthless https://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/16/ralph-krueger-ruthless-southampton-chairman-mauricio-pochettino I see people knocking Krueger’s time in the premier league, but me personally, I am amazed by it. He had absolutely no experience in the soccer world, yet he stepped right in and ran a team in the biggest, most popular league in the entire world and actually did a really good job at it. And the team was in transition at the time. It’s not like everything was perfect when he took over. The owner was in a squabble with the club’s chairman and things got messy I guess. It gives me confidence that this Sabres job isn’t going to be too big for him. He’s never met a job that has been... This guy has never really failed at anything he’s done. As far as I can tell, he has always left a place better than he found it.
  19. Seems legit. Its right on channel 4’s website - https://www.wivb.com/news/local-news/donations-for-backpacks-filled-with-school-supplies-being-accepted-in-pancho-billa-s-name/2004378102
  20. starts around 12 minute mark. How hard would it have been to delete the first 12 minutes, Sabres? lol
  21. Major mistakes of Edmonton Oilers management? One was axing Ralph Krueger, now head coach of the Buffalo Sabres https://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/major-mistake-of-edmonton-oilers-management-one-was-axing-ralph-krueger-now-head-coach-of-the-buffalo-sabres/wcm/dcac2700-3bf1-4be9-bf3f-cad15ea812e9 Having the PP QB at the hash marks was actually somewhat of an innovative move at the time. Most PP’s were run from the point. Some interesting quotes from his opening press conference. Gives a good idea of what he may be about as the Sabres head coach. Definitely worth a read. This sounds a bit like McDermott Hes known for getting everyone in the organization on the same page and pulling in the same direction. Krueger is a “culture changer”.
