My take is that each year after not getting over the hump the Bills tweak things philosophically on both sides of the ball, and around this time they figure those changes largely didn’t work, then they go back to what worked the previous year and start winning again. They’re motivated to fix the things that prevented them from beating the Chiefs (DL pressure, long sustained scoring drives on O). But these aren’t fixable with 2-3 new personnel.

My god Higgins is fast

Because in years prior they played noticeably poorly in loses, played down to inferior teams. Last night they looked totally overmatched in speed, age, athleticism and philosophy to a mediocre team. Maybe a small tweak recalibrates everything but maybe not? Silver lining is that the offense has worked this year and the D with a skeleton crew last night made stops when asked (for as long as they could).

The offense only looked like itself in that first half of the 3rd quarter when they rode Cook. Cook is their best player outside of Allen by a wide margin. The minute they went away from Cook in the 2nd half the offense stalled again. On WGR they just said Cook didn’t touch the ball on the last 3 possessions!!!!! This is all Brady’s fault and it’s criminal. Allen having to work that hard for a <200 yard passing yard performance is on Beane and Brady. I don’t understand how he can’t find plays to slow down a blitzing D. Allen was superb at this in years past.

Beane should trade all draft picks in rounds 1-3 for established players and start his drafting in 4. It’s only late rounds where he shines.

I think drafting and signing only good team first guys who buy into McD’s philosophy is actually a tell on that head coaches lack of confidence in himself. If you’re a good coach you lead everyone and get them to buy in, you don’t do it by default. Killer
