Which 6-8 players/positions will the Bills pay big money to?
MAJBobby replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Find me one WLB that once made Big Money actually earned that contract in the NFL. It is the easiest LBer spot to play in Football. -

I don't Need an every-down LBer at that spot that is what I am saying. also in case you missed it. I included him IN the CORE but also said is the most expendable of that group and he is IMO. And thankfully the NFL opening up More Roster spots on Game Day instead of 45 makes it easier for me now as well with additional roster spots available. I can not have a 3 Down LBer, Two 2 down LBers and a Coverage Specialist for the sub packages and NOT have to worry about the roster spot crunch -

Because at some point you have to look at things like that, and Milano is the most expendable player on that list. He took a step back last year, however that should help keeping his paycheck low. If not you move on from him. So if his price tag is 12M a year. and I can get the same production from 2 guys that add up to 8M a year I do that. it is plan and simple roster management. WLB are easy to find, and should never be overpaid -

Yeah I kind of expanded a bit on Milano later. Out of all these players Milano is the most expendable actually and easily replaced actually -

The reason I dont think Milano will over 10M as well is because of the exact thing the scout said. Really you only need one 3 down backer because of the sub packages. That would be Edmunds. So they can use the leverage against Milano. And Milano could eventually be replaced with a specialized LBer. Adding slots to the roster on game day will also give that flexibility. It might take 2 backers to Fill what Milano brings, but that could easily be the leverage that they use to keep his contract team friendly -

This is a bit hard as a couple are already paid in reality but will list him anyway, the 6-8 I would pay are: 1. Josh Allen (Eventually, 2022). 2. Stefon Diggs (already above 10M) 3. Mitch Morse (Already abov 10M) 4. Dion Dawkins (This year) 5. Ed Oliver (2023) 6. Tremaine Edmunds (2022) 7. Matt Milano (this year) (though I think he doesn't make 10M a year when it is done) 8. Tre White - (Next year) There is you immediate Core IMO The Issue it which one falls off to pay your DE. I think that would be a combination of Hughes and Murphys pay (to pay the new Core DE) and the other DE would be the middle class NFL player -
Also this was interesting from Beane a week or so ago.. Recently speaking with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane supported a potential solution to this problem, proposed by Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert, where the traditional seven-round draft would be expanded to 10 rounds. Each year after the draft, teams suddenly become the ones pitching to prospects as those who don't get selected become free agents, getting to sign anywhere they prefer. With team facilities closed and front office members, coaches, and scouts only connected online or over the phone, this process becomes quite a challenge. "When you’re doing free agency like that after the seventh round, you’ve got everybody still in your draft room or at least down the hall,” Beane told Florio. “Now, trying to communicate because you only have so many dollars that you can allocate from a bonus and so lot of times you have several deals going. Once you agree to one, you’ve got to pull out of the others. If you’re chasing three tackles hoping to land one. If you’ve offered $15,000 to one and maybe you’re talking $12,000 to the other, but you don’t want them both. Once you get one in the boat, you’ve got to back out on the other. It’s a moving target. I think that will be an obstacle for all teams as we work through it remotely.”

I have him 91st overall which would put him in the late rd. So not much higher than you have him. but even at 91st he would still be my 5th best LBer, but seems we pretty much do agree with him in terms of his attributes and position. I think the reason I have him a bit higher than you is I do think by looking at his frame in an NFL weight program he can put that 20LBs on and not hamper his athletic ability, which will put him in the potential future MIKE ability by maybe year 2 after a full NFL nutrition and weight program -

I love the trade so much. With a majority of his Cap hit being base salary from here on out, it gives you the easy restructure without killing the cap. So smart.
