You just highlighted the mistake. He was a late riser because of his showing in the Senior Bowl. I was one of the fools that watched the game and fell for it. I didn’t like the trade up, but I wasn’t screaming about it.
If you ignore the senior bowl and look at his measurables and production at ECU it paints the picture we saw last year. He isn’t exceptional at any one thing. Unless he fine tunes his game I don’t see him sticking in any one place.
I have my fingers crossed like the rest of Bills nation but I’m keeping the expectations low.
They traded up in the second round and drafted a guy with Day 3 talent. If you are moving up that early in the draft for a WR he needs to have potential to be at least a number 2. He would struggle being a better slot option than Kerley who was drafted in the 5th round.
Struggles to separate, Limited burst, thin frame, struggles to get a clean release. All from Lance Zierlein on his scouting report prior to the draft.
Lance slammed him saying if he didn’t improve speed wise he won’t be much more than WR depth.
Add small hands to the mix and a guy that runs like he is swimming on dry land. I have seen higher ceilings in The Shire.
Huge mitts? Are you just making this stuff up? He has 9 inch hands. Julio is over 10, Diggs is 10, Jordy is 10, Benjamin is 10.25, Landry 10.25, Beckham 10.
If anything Zay’s hands are closer to the minimum.
Outside of Benjamin it’s a group of fringe NFL players who all have low ceilings. I think the Bills find a way to get Manny Sanders via trade or release.
Trading up for Rags was bad.
Trading up for Sammy was bad.
Drafting EJ was bad.
Overpaying and enabling Dareus was bad.
In short most everything Whaley and scouting department did could and should have been done by a group of zoo animals.
Blount’s running style is not comparable with a player like Shady. Once he loses another half a step everyone will be ready for new blood at the position. Him remaining healthy for 16 games and averaging over 4YPC this season is a dream.
They don’t match up. How are they going to score 100? Bron would have to score 60. Korver actually abused Smart for 9 minutes straight and that still wasn’t enough.
The role players might shoot better at home but the majority of them don’t even want to shot. JR or bust at home for the Cavs.
