Awesome songs (or parts of songs) by non-favorite bands
SinceThe70s replied to OGTEleven's topic in Off the Wall
A few years back Nickleback was a regular punchline as a bad band. I only know two of their songs -both pop - but like them both so I never understood all the hate. "The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap We’ll all stay skinny 'cause we just won’t eat" We used to listen to the radio And sing along with every song we know We said, "Someday we'd find out how it feels To sing to more than just the steering wheel" -
Beerballs, are you old enough to remember them?

Just saw some quotes from Rojas (https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31237769/new-york-mets-pitcher-marcus-stroman-unhappy-team-let-start-game-rain) that makes it look like along with 'ballpark operations' he was involved in the decision. "Rojas said Mets ballpark operations staff consulted with weather services, and he was the one who told Stroman the game was starting on time" "This is the process," the manager said. "The starting pitcher is usually not in the middle of the process of what we're looking [at] there." "Maybe right now it's a wrong decision, but it's what we saw," he said.

Do you think it was Rojas who decided they start the game? I don't know who actually makes the call but I'm skeptical it's the manager. I was wondering whether Cohen gets involved. Either way, you're right that it was a management blunder, especially since it wouldn't have been in front of a sell-out crowd.

Two Pink Floyd covers I just came across from a band I was aware of but never listened to:

She told me to ice the arm if it got sore. But I completely agree with who knows.

I just got my J&J shot a few hours ago. In a weird coincidence the pharmacist who stuck me shares the same birthday as me - including the year. Anyway, she suggested taking Ibuprofen a few hours after you get vaccinated and every 8 hours or so for a day as a preventative measure. Her point was if you don't get fever and chills no harm no foul. But if you don't take anything, by the time you start getting the symptoms it's too late and you'll have to wait until the Ibuprofen kicks in. The other suggestion was don't just rollup your sleeve when you get the shot, instead take your arm completely out of your sleeve. Her contention was that the arm soreness is from tensing up when you get the shot and taking your arm out will leave it in a more relaxed position.

100% on Bobby V. One of the best in game managers I've watched. Hell, he took an outfield of Jay Payton, Benny Agbayani and Timo Perez to a World Series. Not sure what market you live in, but his appearances on Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN radio were just great. You also mentioned Turk - he's a favorite of mine as well. In case you missed it, his name came up recently when he sent a care package to the second Met to wear #99: https://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/mlb/mets/2021/03/09/taijuan-walker-second-ny-mets-wear-no-99-turk-wendell/4640019001/

Right there with you. I would tell my friends who Bobby V would be warming up next let alone who we was bringing in next. One of the few times he surprised me was when he left Leiter in to face Sojo in the WS. Granted it was a million hopper that found a hole, but it was one of the few times that I thought Bobby V managed with his heart instead of his head.

Who’s the ONE guy you want the Bills to draft no matter what!!?
SinceThe70s replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane is in the enviable position of worrying about his own team more than the competition. He took advantage of that through some free agent signings ahead of the draft knowing he didn't have a high draft pick. Other teams have high draft picks (hope), we have a solid foundation to (hopefully) improve on. I'll take the latter over the former. -
LOL...working from home with wifey oversight has removed my guilty fast food work week pleasures. The one time I had to wear a pair of work pants in the past year they were actually looser than last time I wore them. I can't think of a habit I've broken but by and large I'm able to regulate my bad habits.

You're off your rocker.

Not the most exciting game but I went to the Meadowlands in 2009 with a friend who is a Jets fan. My brother-in-law had given me his seats that were in the end zone a few rows from the top of the stadium. Halfway through the 2nd quarter a guy with his girlfriend comes up to us hands us his tickets and says he'd rather sit up top with his friends. We watched the second half 15 rows off the field in the end zone. What was even better was watching Mark Sanchez throw 5 interceptions. Also, the Jets punter threw an INT in overtime on a botched FG attempt so 6 INT's on the day. Watching all of those amongst Jets fans was highly enjoyable. Good times.

WRT to the first bolded - you have that luxury. I have a close friend who is a Yankee fan who thinks like you. I'm a bitter Yankee-hater. If the Mets ever have an extended period of success that overshadows the Yanks maybe I'll be as magnanimous....maybe. WRT to the second bolded - 100% true. But the better NY rivalry is Rangers-Islanders because they actually compete in the same division. When the new Isles ownership came in a few years ago they made a similar statement that they wanted both teams to be great.

I smoke two joints in the morning, I smoke two joints at night, I smoke two joints in the afternoon, It makes me feel all right. I smoke two joints in time of peace, And two in time of war. I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, And then I smoke two more.
