Pats are ruining love of NFL
Nihilarian replied to Cal Bill's Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If your not cheating, then your not trying hard enough The Commish burned the tapes when there was an actual senate investigation ongoing, and now when he wants to make them pay for continued cheating he can't as the league won't allow it. Lets face it, the league isn't going to tarnish their shield no matter what. Tom Brady won't play forever... -
A Few Thoughts on Steelers @ Pats***
Nihilarian replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Steelers defense is bad as all Bills fans now know. Its difficult to believe that the Steelers make the playoffs this year even when they get Bryant, and Bell back. Its tough to cover Edelman (another Wes Welker), and Gronk! As Bill Belicheat so aptly put it " nobody plays cover two defense against us because they can't cover Gronk"! It looked to me like the refs in the game were allowing those three patriots rookie O linemen to hold all game long. I dunno perhaps to ensure that the season opening game looked good for all the NFL fans out there. It looked like Big Ben was getting frustrated in the 4th quarter, and trying to press the pass to much. They should have kept to their run game, and let the QB just manage it. What we learned: The Patriots can be run on. If the Steelers with a banged up O line with their best player out, and with a 32 year old RB can get 27 carries for 127 yards then the Bills should dominate with their run game. We also learned that the Patriots secondary won't be anywhere near as good as they were least season with Revis. That Patriot O line is very weak with three rookies starting and if the Bills pass coverage can hold for 2 seconds then it should give that Bills front four time to get to Brady. Next, I don't see the Pats new RB Dion Lewis or any Patriots RB being a big threat to the Bills defense which should make them one dimensional. What sucks is we don't know which Darby will show up. The one who got two INT' s or the roasted Mr Darby who was targeted and burned on a regular basis in other games. If he is having an off day Brady will exploit it. Here is hoping that Rex & Roman set up a game plan to destroy Brady & Belicheat for the season. -
Pats are ruining love of NFL

Belicheat, Brady and the Patriots have had a great run the last 15 years. But all good things come to an end. No dynasty lasts forever, and it shouldn't be long before Tom Brady is done. I doubt that the Patriots can readily replace him. The AFC East is primed to do that this season, as the Dolphins defense got a lot better with suh. The Jets have a new HC noted to be a top DC, and the Bills have Rex along with the best front four in the league. I'm hoping the refs won't let those three Pats rookie O linemen hold the Bills players as badly as they did against the Steelers all game. Just "eff" them, and the league that they have a few extra days to prepare for the Bills next week. -

Week 1 "lock" to win - Now on to Week 2.
Nihilarian replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mia over Wash looks to be the best lock The Cowboys over the Giants could be another! The Patriots should own the Steelers without Bell, Bryant, and just because the cheaters are down a WR they still have gronk, Edelman, Amendola One reason I wouldn't take GB over the Bears is because the Packers WR corps -O line is currently in flux, and the Bears new HC is John Fox. Fox will run the ball and setup the offense for Cutler to have minimal turnovers, JMO -
I agree, as I don't think he could have played any better, and still lost out to the unknown. You need to understand there is a certain amount of opposition in the Bills FO to EJ even being on the team from what the insiders have stated. However I do think that because of Rex Ryan that EJ is even still with the team. If the first two guys don't win then EJ will get a chance.

Just win baby! and it won't matter how bad or good he plays as long as he finds a way to help win games. He starts turning it over with fumbles, INT's to lose games no matter what anyone says the torches, and pitchforks will be coming out

PFF ranks Taylor #32 starting QB
Nihilarian replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I happen to agree with this. Nobody really knows what to expect from this young QB this year. Lets face it guys we live in a bubble, and its a great bubble... but its still a freaking bubble. My friends that like other teams are laughing at me for liking a former 6th round pick that was another teams backup QB for four years, and has never even started a regular season game. Then the one game he played in 2012 that he took significant snaps in was a blowout he came in and threw an INT, no TD's. 17 of 29 for 179 yards. Then in 2013 he played in one game he was 1 of 5 for 2 yards, and an INT. The reality of the situation is that Taylor is only 6' tall, 221 lbs, and a running QB with no NFL starts. So, what do we know about running QB's is that unless they are supremely blessed they don't last very long in the league. The good Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, and the bad RG3, Colin Kaepernick. That list I think they have Bridgewater way to high, as he shouldn't* be ahead of Smith, Palmer, Manning. Then Luck should be in the top 5. I also think by years end Bortles and Carr should be a lot higher -
Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It could very well be that EJ looks bad in practice, and is making more mistakes then the other two QB's. There are some things that the fans just don't see, and the coaches do see. But then again the media and insiders here have had it in for EJ long before the pre season started. From what recall EJ looked good at training camp from the fans, and posters here. While the media and insiders were blasting him. From what I saw in those pre season games EJ was setting protections properly, and finding the open receiver after more then one read. AND moving the ball downfield in big chunks. The young man has far more upside then the 11 year vet Cassel at this point, and has all the tools to be that prototypical pocket passer that 95% of the other NFL teams are looking for or want. At this point he is simply lacking playing experience and confidence. Benching, and demoting tends to ruin confidence that in a young QB. You are 100% correct tho as all three QB's looked good in pre season against mostly vanilla defenses with no real game planning behind them. My concern is TT has never even started an NFL game, so its really up in the air as to what we can expect when under extreme duress. Particularly should the run game falter at any point. We all hope for the best, and wins. I'm just not convinced Cassel is the right move as 2nd string. -
Good points. I'm with you on this one as I don't get it either. I want to see him make some yards in actual game play before i give the kid a nickname. I can't help but think as a rookie he will be a liability as a blocker on pass plays as all rookies usually are, and his main purpose will be as a grinder / power runner in short yardage. That is after Dixon tires as the #2 backup because I just don't see how anyone can conclude this 5th rounder deserves to be the primary backup just yet. Bryce Brown out performed all the Bills RB's still on the roster this pre season, and he is 4th. Anyway, I'll be cheering whomever is carrying the ball for the Bills too.

Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm starting to think the insiders here are correct in what they hear in regards to EJ, and that is there are people in the Bill FO that really don't like him at all. And that is after he had a stellar pre season play, and that is at both backup and starter. All the kid did was find the end zone with TD passes. Now after re watching his play in that Pittsburgh game in which the coaches kept putting EJ back in the game again, and again to see him finally have a bad pass / series on 4th down. To Rex's credit he didn't end EJ's play with that bad pass and put him in again to at least complete another pass before they put in Simms. Rex slapped EJ's hand on the sideline after pulling him thus giving me the impression that probably the only reason EJ is still with the team is because of Ryan. This pre season EJ went 20 of 30 for 358 yards. 4 TD's no INT's with a percentage of 66.7%, and a passer rating of 146.9. This puts him in the company of Brees, Stafford, Bradford, and Matt Ryan. Be sure to think of this should the Bills offense falter, and fail to keep up with the Colts (Luck), Patriots (Brady) in those first two games. -

Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't trust the guy to watch fleas at this point. The kid was the top rated passer in the pre season...in the entire NFL! All Cassel really earned was a ticket out of town, and now returns for a lot less money. If I'm EJ I'd be upset, and be looking for a change of scenery after this season. But that's me... -

Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like Cassel as the #2 QB because is a "broken" bridge QB. That guy is not the future, and I certainly don't trust him to carry the team, and win games should the run game falter. I like that they signed him for the 900K vet min but only as a last resort type of deal. -
Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about 2009 when Cassel went 4-11 for the Chiefs, or 2011 when he went 4-5, and then there was the 2012 season in which he went 1-7 with 6 TD's, 12 INT's If the guy is playing in a NE style offense with an ex Patriot OC then he might do well. I can understand bringing him back to a degree to help the younger players. Just not as 2nd string. Should anything happen to TT I can see things going south very quickly. -
Fred Jackson astounds Pete Carroll
Nihilarian replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wouldn't surprise me to see Jackson play more then just one year in Seattle as a third down back. Much the same way Kevin Faulk never seemed to grow old in NE. Not many backs are better at picking up a blitzer or catching the ball out in the flat on third down. Wish Fredex the best, and hope he gets a SB ring this year -
Do you think our defense will be better or worse this year?
Nihilarian replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a really great topic that worries the bejebus out of me because Rex likes to leave his DB's on an island. Stating that about the only guy on the roster capable of being an island and playing well is Gilmore, and should he get injured at any point things could really go badly this year. Rex Ryan is a decent head coach, and above average DC. But what he isn't is another Pete Carroll, as Carroll has shown that he drafts a certain type of player, and then molds / develops them to fit his system. Kam Chancellor 5th round- Richard Sherman 5th round are prime examples. http://mmqb.si.com/2014/01/31/super-bowl-48-richard-sherman-pete-carroll Ryan inherited Derrelle Revis from Eric Manginni, and Revis made the pro bowl before Ryan took over as the Jets HC, and so did Shaun Ellis. A lot of the players that made that 2009 Jets defense #1 in the league were already on the team when Ryan got there. David Harris, Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas, Kerry Rhodes. Granted Ryan added other players like Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, and made that defense great with his scheme he ran in Baltimore. Interesting note that Mike Pettine was his DC 2009-2012. While I think the Bills have the best starting front four in the league I'm not as confidant in the LBers, and secondary this season. As others have pointed out the Bills start the season against Andrew Luck, and then Tom Brady. Then at Miami, and the NY Giants with Odell Beckham Jr. I think the 2015 Bills defense against the run will be greatly improved, and the defense against the pass could come under fire early. Gonna be tough to equal Schwartz numbers in both #4 in yards #4 in points IMO. Anyway, should the team get a shot at a playoff berth this year I sure hope they play a hella lot better then they did last year against a crappy 2-14 Raider team. -
Yes Orton wasn't that good. But I think he did better then most other QB's the Bills have had since Bledsoe on a far, far worse offense. Decent blocking by the offensive line last year was almost non existent. Factor that with college coaches, bad line. Orton on this years team would be a stark improvement over last year, and playoffs an almost certainty JMHO. The Bills win in Oakland and suddenly Orton is a hero no matter how he played in the previous games. The Bills defense stopped Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and then fell on their face against Derek Carr. Go to youtube and watch Now watch Mack hit Orton often because the RT was downright putrid, and shouldn't have been on the field.
