Bills pregame antics... Embarrassing if true
Nihilarian replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man, last year I was so happy the way the Bills beat the Jets, and to watch that look on Ryan's face was priceless. Then he said his team would play 1000% better in the second game against Buffalo, and got beaten down worse. Lord, I can only hope we don't see that stuff again this year on the Bills sidelines! Lets hope he shuts his mouth, and tells his players to let their actions speak for themselves. -
Bills pregame antics... Embarrassing if true

When has being a bully worked on any level? I can recall in HS we used to have this huge guy who was a bully, and about 5 guys got tired of his picking on the smaller kids. Pulled him into an empty classroom, needless to say he didn't bully anymore that year. -
Did we underestimate the Jets?

Good stuff, and I agree with it. -
Did we underestimate the Jets?

I agree that the Jets have some decent talent at the WR skill positions in both Marshall & Decker. Then starting RB Ivory (who is averaging 4.4 yards per carry) and backup RB Powell (who is averaging 4.2 yards per carry) are a good RB combo to help that offense control the clock. Lets not forget that Chan Gailey was calling the offensive plays in Buffalo when he was the HC, and Fitz was his QB all that time so he knows the system. What has changed with Gailey is it looks like he isn't the same pass happy OC as he was in Buffalo, and the Jets actually have more rushing attempts then passing attempts at this point. That 2014 NY Jets defense was ranked 6th overall last year, and that was despite the fact that Rex Ryan said they had no decent CB's. The Jets defense is currently ranked 10th overall right now. BTW the Jets turnover differential is currently at +8 so the are getting a lot of takeaways, and Buffalo is at +2. Another note for the Jets is their point differential is their defense has the lowest point total at 17 PA to PF 51 Bottom line that Jets O line might be the best that Fitz has ever had in his career, and now that Gailey isn't forcing Fitz to carry the team they could go really far this year. BTW, their new HC has stated that when Geno is fully healthy and returns to the team should the Jets have a winning record Ole broke jaw won't be the starter. So yea, I'd say most fans underestimated the Jets so far this year. -
Then he wasn't watching the Buffalo Bills back when Dave Wannstedt was the defensive coordinator. What we saw with Andrew Luck and Tom Brady were almost two completely different defensive schemes. One blitzed more then any other team that week, and the other dropped into coverage with crazy crap like Jerry Hughes covering on Gronk. Then what we learned is the latter doesn't work. I'd think its better to gamble and get some hits on Brady and get him out of rhythm, out of his game then it is to sit back and let him pick you apart. For all the money the Buffalo Bills front four is making they have shown they can't do it one on one, and in this last game they couldn't get it done against three rookies on the Patriots O line starting. Lets hope the coaches fix this before it gets away from them. I sincerely hope the players, and coaches get their posteriors booted around OBD for the lack of discipline with all the penalties. Then start to do what they said they would do and that is find a way to pound the rock 40 times a game, and play great defense.

What game were you watching? Once Belichick stopped going for the throat after the third QTR, and stopped stacking the box the Bills were finally able to move the ball again. 37-13 in the 3rd quarter, and I'd have to think if Brady along with the Patriots defense kept pressing it would have been more. That supposed #1 Bills defense in the NFL this year gave up a franchise record 466 passing yards. The Bills defense is now ranked 30th overall. This is the second week of a ton of penalties. Then Taylor 8 sacks, and 3 INT's and it could have been more INT's with those high throws of his. No worries huh?

This game the Bills defense was supposed to put their foot squarely on Tom Brady's throat and say "See, we are now going to be the best in the AFC East"!! Not only did the foot miss the neck it went straight into Rex Ryan's big mouth. 466 yards passing set a franchise worst record, and the defense didn't even show up for this game. The Bills are now ranked 30th in total defense and that's down 26 from last seasons #4 ranking. This years team has so many flaws right now, and the coaching seems to be the biggest problem.

I can recall what happened last year after the Patriots were pounded by the Chiefs in week four 41-14, and lets also not forget that Miami beat them pretty good in the opener. Most Patriot fans were literally crying in their beer that the dynasty was over. It clearly wasn't, but then the Patriots have Bill Belichick & Tom Brady. The difference between a great team, or bad team is how you respond after getting beaten badly. Do you get up and learn from the experience or keep getting knocked down. We will see after the next few games! Oh btw, can we trade you Tyrod for Tom?

This! to the Bold print. A lot of fans are forgetting that his last TD could have easily been intercepted had the defender not jumped to early. Still, the entire team was bad in so many ways, and Taylor did manage to effectively mount a decent comeback at the end of the game. TBH I'm far more disappointed in the coaching, game plan then I am in the QB.

I agree that it might not be the time to panic after one bad loss. Its how the Bills lost! Even the Bills own HC says they were out coached, and they were in almost every aspect. So many penalties in both the first two games. The game plan was bad on both sides of the ball against NE. The Patriots just gave the rest of the league the blueprint on how to disassemble the 2015 Buffalo Bills. So lets watch next week to see if Miami noticed.

The point was this team was supposedly going to run the ball more then any other team this year, and the run game play book is the biggest in NFL history, and yet the Bills came out passing in the 2nd & 3rd series. McCoy needs more then 15 carries IMO, as a lot of every down RB's need at least 20 to get into a proper rhythm. Wear the defense out, keep the ball out of the other QB's hands, keep our defense on the bench, control the LoS & clock , and none of that happened.

Best Defenses Ever - Some Perspective
Nihilarian replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I can say is after watching yesterdays complete destruction of the Bills defense / offense. It makes me wonder if Matt / Bryce something or other gave up the Bills playbook, game plan. Sorry, I gotta wonder. if it were any other team, or any other head coach. We will see what happens in Miami next weekend. -
Any Bills fan that watched yesterdays game has to realize a few things now. 1)The Bills QB has a long, long way to go before he develops into that "franchise" guy. It wasn't until the fourth quarter when the Patriots changed their defensive plan to lay back in coverage, and be less aggressive that the Bills were able to make that 19 point comeback. 8 sacks on Taylor 2) The Bills offensive line is bad, and although not as bad as last year its still quite bad. The Patriots showed that three rookies on their line properly evaluated, and coached can play very well against one of the better defensive fronts in the NFL. did i mention 8 sacks on Tyrod Taylor? 3) The Bills were successful in their first series, and then came out throwing in their second, third series for some unknown reason. For a team that supposedly has the biggest run game playbook, and plans to run the ball more then any other team they fell far, far short this game and instead tried out gun the best QB in the league. Its crazy to me that the McCoy finished the game with only 15 rushes for 89 yards which equals a 5.9 YPC avg Where was the innovation in the run offense in finding ways to get McCoy an open lane continuously. So much for the power run offense. Where was the innovation in the offense to involve Sammy, Percy, Shady, Clay more in any kind of open space to get them the ball. 4) The Bills were out coached, and out game planned, and while the Bills possess superior talent on the defense, and in the offensive skill positions. Yet today's game showed you can over spend for defense / offense and it won't make a difference if the coaching isn't up to par. 14 penalties for 140 yards wow, just wow. 5) WTF happened to that #4 overall defense from last year? Tom Brady 59 passes for 466 passing yards, 3 TDs and that was almost all by the end of the 3rd qtr. The Buffalo Bills are currently ranked 30th in total defense, 31st in pass defense. 30th in sacks Is it to late to bring back Jim Schwartz? Any Bills fan that watched that game and didn't come away shocked, and disappointed is in strong denial syndrome !! Denial syndrome is defined as “a defense mechanism postulated by Sigmund Freud, in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept.”

Rex Ryan - The mouth that roared
Nihilarian replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly this week Rex Ryan looked a lot like the Rex Ryan of last years Jets team. What was all this talk about Rex saying that this is the most talent he has ever had on defense, and yet allowed they 446 yards passing. Right now Buffalo is 28th in total defense, and 31st in pass defense. So much for that #4 overall defense from last year. To the fans that think what Ryan says doesn't matter. Of course it matters as it MOTIVATES the opposing team!! -
Were the Patriots playing the same defense in the 4th qtr as they were in the first qtr after the Bills first series? Because if they were dropping more into coverage, and not coming after Tyrod later in the game then that 18 point comeback isn't a great as we all think it is. The Patriots just showed the rest of the NFL the blueprint on how to beat that Buffalo offense. I'm sure Miami along with other teams will watch this game very closely

Gotta give Belichick Credit
Nihilarian replied to Doug Flutie Band's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had the extra time from that Thursday night game to prepare his team, and it showed. It also helps to have Tom Brady, Julia Edleman. -
Shady McCoy 15 rushes for 89 yards = 5.9 YPC avg. So it begs the question why not run McCoy more, and especially when it was working? and that question is about the very second Bills series with a McCoy run off right tackle for -1 yards. Then a pass to Mulligan for 2 yards, and on 3rd down a drop back to pass for a -6 yard sack. Then third series, pass for 1 yard, pass for-1 yard, sack. Where was the innovative offensive play calling to get players like Watkins, Harvin the ball in space?
-
There was quite a bit of fail all over the Bills team today. Coaching was bad in so many ways with lame play calls on both sides of the ball. It was like Rex Ryan played scared to blitz or even send his front four, and the penalties are now past the ridiculous point all over the team. Bills OC Greg Roman started asking Taylor to air out the ball in the second series, and forgot about the ground, and pound attack. McCoy had 15 rushes for 89 yards = a 5.9 YPC avg. So why didn't the Bills get him 25 plus carries? The Patriots with 500+ yards of offense, and Brady with 59 passes 466 yards passing, 3 TD's!! Wow, so much for the #4 overall defense from last year. This years slogan was "Feel the rush"! Was that feel the rush of Julian Edleman catching first downs, TD passes or the rush of Patriots defenders blowing by the Bills offensive linemen? A lot of us knew the Bills might be in trouble with a QB like Tyrod once the team started playing from behind. Now I gotta wonder if the Patriots started playing it safe after the 3rd quarter, and their defense stopped what they were doing in the first 3 quarters thus allowing the Bills to make that 18 point comeback. Did the Patriots move to a prevent type defense late in the game? 8 sacks is way to many and not all were on the O line as Taylor held the ball far to long waiting for someone to come open. By the time he decided to run it was usually to late, and he should have thrown it away. Then the few airballs didn't help. Sammy is good but he shouldn't* need to jump five feet above the ground to try and catch a pass, some were saying that EJ was leaving his receivers vulnerable. The Bills have 4 guys on that defensive on their line that are making 250 million between them, and today were out played by a Patriot offensive line with three rookies on it.

Rex Ryan, Defensive Genius
Nihilarian replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brady had a measly 59 passes, 466 yards passing, 3 TDs Good thing the Bills have the best front four in the league -
I have a better idea, draft a LT with the first pick, and RT with the second. Then hire some coaches who will actually teach the players not to commit penalties

gotta go 80 yards for a TD, and then get the 2 point conversion
