I keep reading about Julio Jones and the big trade-up to get him for the QB Matt Ryan led Falcons in 2011. The Falcons didn't even get to an SB until 2016, 5 years after that trade, and even then... they lost to the NE Patriots in that game. The Falcons that SB season also had Devonta Freeman at RB in a balanced offense. After that trade for Julio Jones, Atlanta lost the WildCard game that season and lost in the conference championship to the 49ers after a 13-3 season. The Falcons didn't even make the playoffs with WR Julio Jones in 2013-2014-2015 going 4-12, 6-10 and 8-8. Lots of folks saying that the reason for the declining years was because of the resources spent on that stud WR. And that HC Mike Smith was canned along the way in 2015, the GM a bit later in 2020. Let's look at the team that beat the Falcons in that Super Bowl, the NE Patriots. Yes, they had Tom Brady at QB all those SB years. But who else did they have? SB in 2001 with WR Troy Brown. The funny thing with that 2001 season was the only 1000-yard season Troy Brown had in his 15 seasons with NE. They also had WR Randy Moss in 2007-2008-2009 and he had 3 1000-yard seasons in NE and yet they made one SB in 2007 only to lose it and didn't make it in the next two seasons with Moss. So, I'm thinking that these stud superstar WRs don't always make a team an SB contender. Calvin Johnson, 2007 2015. Megatron, he ever make a SB? Larry Fitzgerald for Arizona 2004-2020. He made it to one SB and lost it. Steve Largent, Seattle 1976-1989 with 8, 1000-yard seasons. I look at the NE Patriots who run the very same offensive scheme as the current Buffalo Bills (Erhardt-Perkins). So what did they do so well that got them to so many SBs and wins? They usually played great defense with Ole Bill as the HC. They moved the chains with Troy Brown, Wess Welker, and Julian Edelman, and when they went to the red zone they had a big TE in Rob Gronkowski. Buffalo has their "chain movers" in Shakir, Knox, and Dalton Kincade.

The Browns being the Browns... think of it... for the 6th overall pick in the 2011 draft, they gave up 5 draft picks. Atlanta's #27 in 2011, their 2012 1st-round pick. Their 2nd and 4th round picks in 2011 plus a 4th in 2012. All for QB Matt Ryan. They could have drafted WR Randall Cobb in round 2. Speaking of the Cleveland Browns, they drafted RB Trent Richardson at #3 in 2012 along with QB Brandon Weedon at #22, Holy cow

What gets me is these so-called scouts, and GMs watch "highlight" films and think they know the player. If Whaley had done some actual research he would have seen that Watkins made most of his yards in screenplays at Clemson. Exactly how many screenplays did the Buffalo Bills make back in those years? Doug Whaley was the GM in 2013 and went down to personally scout EJ at Florida St. He drafted Watkins to help his bad pick at QB. 2013, man that was just a bad year for QBs, Geno Smith, Mike Glennon, and Matt Barkley... Fitz was the QB in 2012 under Chan Gailey and Saint Doug was hired to replace him in 2013. They should have kept Fitz...

And, think of all the other players this franchise could have drafted in 2014 if only Whaley knew what he was doing. Trading up they could have drafted Mike Evans a 1000-yard WR every year since being drafted...but then if he had he still might be an NFL GM...somewhere. Look back at that 2014 Buffalo Bills draft class...that GM was clueless.

In 2018, before that year's draft, most of this entire fan base was clamoring for Brandon Beane to move up to the #2 spot held by the NY Giants to draft...QB Josh Rosen. Thus giving up many draft picks to move up. Thankfully, no teams wanted to give up their draft positions. Not the Cleveland Browns at #1 & #4 overall. Not the NY Giants at #2, not the NY Jets at #3, nor the Broncos at #5, not the Colts at #6. Do any of you guys think that any of those teams would change their 2018 first-round pick at this point? Beane didn't go stupid and give up the farm for Rosen or any other QB as he only gave up an extra #2 to move up from #12 to #7 with Tampa to Draft Josh Allen. This isn't a QB that all you guys want to move up for and who knows if the guy will turn out to be a bum like Rosen? Look at the Green Bay Packers as they seem to find top WRs in the second round. Minnesota found WR Justin Jefferson in 2020 with that #22 Buffalo first-round pick that they traded for Stephon Diggs.

it's the offseason and all the talking heads are doing is desperately attempting to get clicks. Look at the numbers, Josh made Diggs and not the other way around as he was a 2year out of 5 as a 1000-yard WR. Never an all-pro or pro-bowler and when he learned that the Vikings were going to be a run-first offense... he wanted out. The thing about Kincade and Shakir is that they rarely drop a ball and will always go for a contested catch. Look at Diggs's playoff stats the last few years and he falls on his face in those games instead of stepping up. That guy was not worth #1 money anymore and yelled, cried, and whined when the team lost. He wanted to be carried and yet he was the supposed #1 WR. Beane is brilliant for getting a #2 pick even if it is for next year's draft. With 579 passing attempts last season, I think some receivers will step up and Buffalo's offense will be better for it...especially in the playoffs.

Josh Allen, James Cook, Dalton Kincade, Kahlil Shakir, and Dawson Know are not just a bunch of guys. The end of last year showed that and if Buffalo had a decent #1 and #2 WR this team would beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Diggs falls on his face and yells at others. Gabe Davis was injured...even healthy he isn't a true #2. This FO wants guys that will catch the ball, contested or not, that will step up in the playoffs. The best should be yet to come if Beane can work his magic on a WR. We all thought Diggs was that guy...but no!

No way... far too much talent and needs at positions to give up that much for a "maybe"

Josh was under a ton of pressure from that Jet's defense all game, and he was sacked 5x and hit 9x. Diggs saw 13 targets with 10 receptions for 102 yards, 1 TD. Cook was contained 12 rushes for 46 yards. Nobody on Buffalo's offense did much of anything to help as that Jet's defense was stifling. 16 to 22 in OT. Josh went 29 of 41 for 236 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs. He also had 2 fumbles with one lost. 4 turnovers are very difficult to get over. I think more of the blame goes to the Buffalo OC for a not-very-good game plan. 41 pass attempts, JMO

Well, let's not forget that Brady attempted to get Diggs a lot of work as he was still the most targeted player in the receiving corps under Brady as OC. Diggs simply didn't perform like a #1 WR, or even a decent #2. Diggs had a 66.9% catch percentage in 2023, and Gabe Davis had a 55.6% catch percentage. Diggs had 160 targets and 107 receptions. Gives you an idea of why both might be gone. To put that in perspective Shakir had an 86.7 catch percentage, Cook 81.5%, and Kincade 80.2% catch percentage. It is my take that Diggs wanted out of Buffalo and was about to become another offseason distraction. I think Beane and Co. simply were tired of Diggs with his antics. Buffalo did him a solid by trading him away and Houston did him one better by restructuring to a one-year deal thus allowing him to be an FA in 2025. He wants to go to Dallas to play on the same team as his brother. In my view, looking at Digg's stats in the playoffs, 4 seasons in Buffalo with 9 playoff games Two TDs in 2020 one against the Colts, and one against the Ravens. Two playoff games in 2021, with 0 TDs. Against the Chiefs, 7 targets for 3 receptions for 7 yards. REALLY? Against the Patriots 4 targets for 3 receptions for 60 yards Two playoff games in 2022, with 0 TDs. Against Miami, 9 targets for 7 receptions for 114 yards. Against Cincy 10 targets for 4 receptions for 35 yards. Two playoff games in 2023, with 0 TDs. Against the Chiefs, 8 targets for 3 receptions for 21 yards. Against the Steelers 9 targets for 7 receptions for 52 yards. Buffalo needs a #1 WR to step up in the playoffs and not fall on his face. Diggs can yell at Josh Allen all he wants as it wasn't Josh who was failing in those playoff games.

I think we have seen enough in the last half of the 2023 season along with the two playoff games. "IF" Buffalo had an established #1 WR in the playoffs that would perform like a #1 or even a #2 they should have won that Chiefs game. Diggs has gone invisible in the playoffs the last four years, with few yards, and no TDs. Joe Brady is the guy I've been hoping for at OC with what he did with the Bills run game against Dallas and against the Chiefs in the playoffs. It was like watching the 1990 SB all over again only this time with Buffalo playing to keep the ball away from Mahomes. A thing of beauty that almost worked what with half the Buffalo defense on crutches. Diggs was still the leading receiver in the second half of last season and yet he didn't do nearly enough with the ball to garner a #1 WR status. I think the team will be fine with Shakir, Kincade, and Knox along with the new faces. .

When you think about why Diggs wanted out of Minnesota it was because they were going to a run-first-oriented offense and Diggs knew he wasn't going to see the ball as often. He wanted out and got his way. Now look at last season with Ken Dorsey calling plays vs Joe Brady. Dorsey made Diggs the passing focal point and the team wasn't winning games. 160 targets with 107 receptions, 1183 yards with a 66.9 catch percentage for the season. Well, let's look at what happened to the targets Diggs got after the OC change. In the Chiefs game in week 14, after the OT loss to the Eagles. Diggs, has 11 targets, for 4 receptions for 44 yards. The #1 targeted player, and yet only four catches. The next week against the Cowboys, Diggs 5 targets, and 4 receptions for 48 yards again the most targeted Buffalo receiver. The next week against the Chargers, Diggs 8 targets, and 5 receptions for 29 yards again the most targeted Buffalo receiver. Meanwhile, Gabe Davis went off with 6 targets for 4 receptions for 130 yards, 1 TD. Wow, those are some nice numbers! The next week against NE, Diggs 7 targets, for 4 receptions for 29 yards. Tied with Kincade with 7 targets for 4 receptions for 87 yards. The next week against Miami, 8 targets, 7 receptions for 87 yards. Tied with Kincade again with 8 targets for 7 receptions for 84 yards. Meanwhile, Shakir had 6 targets, and 6 receptions for 105 yards. The next week in the playoff game against the Steelers. Diggs 9 targets for 7 receptions for 52 yards. Again, the Bills leading targeted player. The next week in the playoffs against the Chiefs, Diggs 8 targets, and 3 receptions for 21 yards. P freaking U...Meanwhile, Shakir had 9 targets for 7 receptions for 44 yards, 1 TD. This in my view is Stephon Diggs simply not playing like a #1 WR making nearly 24 million per. My take is that Diggs wanted out of Buffalo and was going to be a distraction again this offseason. Why he wanted out is sort of perplexing to me because he remained the focal point of the Buffalo passing offense. Perhaps Diggs wanted to play with his brother in Dallas and now after the 2024 season, he will be a FA. For whatever reason Diggs was simply not the same player in the playoffs that he was during the regular season. Yes, he put up a lot of yards and made the Pro Bowl and even "all-pro". Still, the guy disappeared in the playoffs for Buffalo. Just as an example, HoF WR Andre Reed against Miami in the 1990 playoffs, 7 receptions for 122 yards, 2 TDs. In his four seasons with Buffalo, in four playoff games... how many TDs has Diggs had?

You should love it as a Texans fan. Diggs is going to be a nice addition to Nico Collins, and Tank Dell. He won't be the focal point of that offense so he should do better. If he has an attitude or sucks this season he can be a Cowboy next season. Not locked into a problem child. Seems like when Diggs doesn't want to be with a team he doesn't stay...and he was getting ready to be a problem again in Buffalo.

What does it tell you that they could only get a 2025 second-round pick for the guy? Hey, the man was great when he was productive. Lastly, let's not forget what Beane stepped into when he took the Buffalo GM job way back when and he needed to clean house. Trust the Beane!

Ever watch a QB constantly target a WR and nobody can stop it...kinda like Mahomes to Tyreek Hill or TE Travis Kelec? Buffalo needs a WR / TE that can get open and catch the ball no matter who is covering them like the two above. Diggs was good, but he wasn't that guy. Look at his stats in the playoffs the last few seasons and he does nothing in those games. Not worth 24 million a year to disappear in the playoffs. I'm fine with it also. If you look at Diggs's play at the end of the last two seasons he really fell on his face in the playoffs. Against the Chiefs in last year's playoff game, Diggs 7 targets, and 3 receptions for 21 yards. I mean wow, is that from a #1 WR? Against the Steelers the week before in the WC game, Digg's 9 targets, 7 receptions for 52 yards. Again, this wasn't against McDuffie and Sneed. Against Cincy in the 2022 playoff game in Buffalo, 10 targets for 4 receptions for 35 yards. Even against the Chiefs in 2022, 6 targets, 3 receptions for 7 yards. I have no idea what the problem with Diggs was the last two years, injury, age, or Diggs just being a Diggs. Something happened with the guy and I'm fine with Buffalo getting a 2025 #2 pick from Houston and moving on. Buffalo needs a #1 WR who will step up in the playoffs.

IMO Burrow HAD three top WRs and the Bills HAD one in Diggs. The Bungals aren't as good as they lost most of that WR corps this off-season. Although they kept the best one. They also just lost their OC and who knows what to expect from their offense now. Buffalo, OTOH, is rebuilding their receiver corps and if they had a top one or two WR in last year's playoff round vs KC they could have won that game. Looking at Digg's numbers from the last two years ending playoff games it's like he went invisible. Buffalo needs a new one, two, and three WRs. Let's see if Shakir can fill one of those and newly added Curtis Samuel can fill another. I don't know what's up with Diggs, injury, or old age but he wasn't the same guy we all saw in 2020. Yes, he put up some decent numbers but seemed to fall off at the end of the last two seasons. Allen needs players who can step up in the playoffs and not fall on their faces.

Let me ask something...who in thee hell in the entire league has been able to cover Travis Kelce or Tyrrek Hill in the last 5 seasons?? We rushed four and couldn't get there...dropped everyone else into coverage which was futile AND they got a bunch of YaC. Just one of those things...like the Hail Murry TD bomb...shi..stuff happens! Let...it...go!

Guys, get over it! It was a great game! I blame the guy who called the defense in Frazier who was old school with his "bend but don't break" schemes. He didn't want to see a big play and instead died by a few slashes. Frazier was schooled by Reid. Buffalo had the #1 overall defense that season too.

Thanks. From a few posts above. It hasn't been 7 seasons, it's been since 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. And injuries on the defensive side have derailed the team the last two years. Also, in 2020 the Buffalo Bills went to the AFC Conference Championship at Kansas City. On another note, take a long hard look at the Green Bay Packers from 2008 to 2022 with the 4x time League MVP at QB in Aaron Rodgers. In his 17 seasons in GB, they went to only ONE SB in all that time and won it. They had 4 seasons where they didn't even make the playoffs. 2 WC losses, and 4 division losses. Josh Allen isn't going anywhere anytime soon as he loves the city of Buffalo, Buffalo fans, and the Buffalo Bills. My take is Beane and McD in being first times in their respective jobs might have figured out that while veteran free agent players might come into the team and perform well. They also might be more injury-prone due to being older. I do believe this FO is heading the team to a youth movement to cut down on injuries later on in the season. Just a thought.

Some of you make it sound like the Buffalo Bills have been great for the last ten years. Like the Chiefs were since 2013 when Reid was hired. It took 7 years for Andy Reid to get to an SB with the Chiefs. The Buffalo Bills need to take a long hard look at the Chiefs and why they don't get the injuries like Buffalo has suffered. A healthy Buffalo Bills defense the last two seasons and my take is that they get to the big dance. That 13-second debacle in 2020...a 94%-97% chance they win that game before the kickoff and Leslie Frazier calls for a "prevent defense"... Where is he now? Chiefs, 2013 lost WC w Alex Smith at QB 2014, no Playoffs 9-7 " '' 2015 lost div 11-5 " '' 2016 lost div 12-4 w Alex Smith at QB 2017 lost WC 10-6 w Alex Smith at QB. (should they have fired Andy Ried at this point? ) 2018 12-4 lost conf champ with Mahomes at QB 2019 12-4 won SB with Mahomes 2020 14-2 lost SB 2021 12-5 lost conf 2022 14-3 won SB 2023 11-6 won SB That Buffalo offense didn't get good until that 2020 season. They were 23rd in points for, and 24th in yards in 2019 offensively. BTW, In case some don't know. McD is a disciple of Andy Reid as he worked for him. He, like Reid, believes in a power-throwing first offense like Andy Reid. It's why he fired Rick Dennison and hired Brian Daboll. When the offense was falling on its face at the start of so many games in 2023, McD replaced OC Ken Dorsey with OC Joe Brady. To go from 6-6 to 11-6!

What so many Buffalo Bills fans simply don't get is... that the Chiefs have been the best team in the NFL for the last five years and Buffalo is the second winningest NFL team right behind the Chiefs. Defensive injuries have screwed this franchise the last two years "Von Miller signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills. $45 million is fully guaranteed at signing with $51.435 million guaranteed in total. Miller received an $18.25 million signing bonus according to PFT. His 2022 and 2023 salaries are fully guaranteed as is a $13 million roster bonus in 2023. $10.71 million of his 2024 salary is fully guaranteed with the balance being guaranteed in March of 2024. This one injury killed the Buffalo pass rush in both 2022 and 2023. Then in 2023, you had all pro, pro bowler starting LBer Matt Milano and CB Tre White both go out with season-ending injuries! The Buffalo defense still managed to finish in the top 5 this past year. Despite half the defense on crutches for that KC playoff game. This sucks...but it happened and it's not the HC nor GM's fault for all these injuries. If anything both should be lauded for different reasons. Beane in trading for DB Rasul Douglas for a 3rd round pick who stepped in and played CB at a top level. Guess what, he was badly knicked up for that KC playoff game and still went out and played. McD setting a great game plan with half a crew and still only losing that Chiefs game by a FG. Buffalo Bills fans are sometimes like little children. They want what they want when they want it and don't care why it didn't happen. Get a grip as 30 other teams wish that they were as good as the Buffalo Bills these last five years. Particularly, Miami, the NY Jets, and the NE Patriots. It is an exciting time to be a Buffalo Bills fan. Make no mistake as the KC Chiefs mostly won this past year with the #2 overall defense that didn't suffer crucial injuries at the end of the season...and I hate them for it!

Belichick wanted Brady gone...so after 2019, he was. They drafted Jones in 2021 after realizing that Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, and Brian Hoyer weren't gonna get it done 7-9 that season. Like I said, I had my doubts that Buffalo could get past the Patriots, and when they did 47-17 in that playoff game IN New England with Mac Jones at QB. I then realized that Belichick was no longer the defensive genius he once was and was no longer a threat for the division title. Things change... and who knows how long Andy Reid and the Chiefs will be that SB-winning team as nothing lasts forever. That division now has two real threats at HC in Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton. Buffalo has beaten the Chiefs in KC more than any other team and now needs to have a defense that stays healthy all season. Have some faith man! Buffalo has a very, very good HC that has had his team screwed by defensive injuries the last two seasons. Von Miller getting hurt really killed the team's pass rush at the end of the last two years. A youth movement was needed.

In that Denver game, the 13th guy was Leonard Floyd ...and McD stated that they practiced that over and over. It shouldn't have happened. To the Bolded, I thought the same thing about getting past the Patriots...till that perfect game by Josh and the 47-17 win. The ONLY NFL team that has beaten the Chiefs a few times in the last few years at KC has been Buffalo. I have faith that this coaching staff will get it done.
