  1. I'm not sure exactly how they decide on the fines but according to the NFL's Football Ops site, fines of this nature are set as absolutes and with no escalation. Safety issues and flagrant personal fines have more scope for punishing more harshly for severe/repeat violations. $30k for someone like Lynch is relative peanuts but for a UDFA, it's about 7% of his pre-tax salary. Perhaps there's a case to be made for it to be means-tested in the next CBA.
  2. Are you trying to criticise him or write his nomination for the Presidency?
  3. Apparently not: Steve Smith watched the game with his son after getting ejected two years ago so I assume this is legit - https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2015/08/29/steve-smith-ravens-son-ejection-fight-thanks-nfl Carr confirmed after the game that he checked into the draw play. I think he's legitimately crazy.
  4. In a league where you get four games for cheating your way to enhanced performance and six games for beating your spouse, not a lot of leeway to punish a guy for a love tap on a ref. If they make the punishments for the really bad stuff effective, they'd have some wiggle room to send messages.
  5. I'd bet this plus a statement apologising for pushing the official and some damage control from the Raiders. @footballzebras No chance of suspension, but Lynch will get hit w/at least $30,387 for contacting ref, $6,076 for enter fight area
  6. I got some solid feedback here and on Twitter. Facebook on the other hand, it brought out the crazies. Now that I know Godwin gets under your skin, he's in every mock until April. Loved his play as a junior. Finding out he turned down OSU to get a good education, icing on the cake How many processes do I have to trust now? Don't trade away all of the talented posters, I beg of you.
  7. I'm not the most emotive person when I re-watch games but I threw my notepad across the room watching that.
  8. I don't like it either but it's basically company policy on anything lengthy. I like reading and writing long form but it seems as though I'm in a decreasing minority. My weekly prospect pieces are usually between 1500-2000 words and I fight to have as few page breaks as possible. Not something that I control unfortunately.
  9. I won't lie, I had you in mind with the Campbell pick. Risk/reward guy but after taking a closer look at him, I think he could develop into something exceptional. If the piece went to a 4th round, the pick was going to be OG Wyatt Teller of VT for now. Like every year, I'm behind on OL because they take so long for me to study. I'm playing a long game with the OL to see if Groy gets any RG reps. If not, I'd happily take a mid-rounder to develop and maybe Shawn Lauvao or Matt Slauson on a two-year deal as a stopgap. Skins fans hate Lauvao but he's been alright this year after some dodgy tape since they signed him.
  10. We can go Mayfield/Nnadi and get a similar outcome, wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I was using a mixture of 3 different set of rankings and my own early grades, Vea seemed like a clear BPA (I think mid-20's would be an absoloute steal). Remember that it's 6 months out and it's just a concept piece
  11. I swear that I wrote this before you posted this, I just have a forgetful editor http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/19/2018-nfl-mock-draft-bills-baker-mayfield-simmie-cobbs-vita-vea/
  12. I highly doubt that I'd quit the Bills for a reason of their doing. As a relative outsider, I don't think relocation would prevent me from watching. Obviously, I get why it would be a huge issue for the natives but I'm not sure that I'd have the same emotional response to that news if it happened. I made no secret of the fact that signing Richie and drafting Karlos Williams made me think long and hard about aligning myself with the organisation but it turns out that I'm not as staunchly ethical as I hoped I was. Only way I stop is if I fall out of love with the game itself. The most likely scenario is that I disconnect myself once I start seeing players that I have an emotional attachment to suffering the long-term effects of playing the game. I know how it affected some fans seeing the state that Darryl Talley is in now, I assume it's about a decade away from that happening to someone that means a great deal to me.
  13. It took 3 posts to absolve me of being the worst person in the thread
  14. Clapping Sean is all about versatility. Pick him up.
  15. I really have a love/hate relationship with all that bull ****.
  16. I'm fine with him speaking up, doesn't bother me in the slightest. If anything, I like my QB to have a bit of an edge (hence my love for Mayfield). The point I was getting at is that some scouts are old school, might prefer it kept behind closed doors. Be foolish to dock him for it but this is the league that had 'anonymous scouts' claiming that Marcus Mariota's lack of concerns off the field was in itself a concern
  17. I'll never fully be sold on him because of the whip in his arm. I understand my own bias and explain it. I probably would've hated Philip Rivers in college too He's got to be careful with his frustration. He made comments last week about them being too predictable. If that was a guy with reputation like Rosen, the story would've been bigger. Just might stick with a few that he seemed to be openly critical of coaching. Staying for 2018 would be smart. He's starting to get a rapport with Tyler Vaughns (looking really promising), might help keep Deontay Burnett around as well. Then you have Petite as a junior, Falo as a freshman. Carr looks pretty good at RB. It's a promising nucleus of talent around him to make a run at the Heisman, the National Title and being the #1 pick.
  18. I don't think it's ever been a point of envy for me. I just like some of the pieces they've put together. I liked Hue as a hire but it's not worked out. I'd certainly have a different DC. No secret that I believe Kizer is good in the long run. Love their OL outside of Coleman. RB is a who's who of my draft crushes, Njoku is gonna be really good. WR is the area I struggle with most, just from a depth perspective. I like/love 5 of their front 7. Secondary is an area they need drastic improvement. I even like their ST unit. I think coaching is the toughest thing for the Browns to get right because they're like the little fat kid getting picked last in sports. Nobody really wants them and someone has to bite that bullet.
  19. My first ruling as the new Czar of Cleveland will be a participation trophy for Joe Thomas. Poor fella.
  20. I finally got around to finishing the USC/Utah game off. Plenty to dislike about Darnold but I have to give him credit for digging himself out of a hole primarily of his own creation. There's definitely an Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck-ish set of mental traits there. Memory like a goldfish for bad plays.
  21. You really thought Kevin Hogan could win you a game, Hue.
  22. Oh, that's a perfect reference point. Pass rushing is often about how they complement each other. Rare that you have two phenom edge rushers. Ninkovich being really disciplined, helping to contain while Chandler Jones flies in from the other side? That can work for Shaq & Jerry.
  23. My greatest fear realized, I've become Americanized.
  24. Dude, you need to stop box score scouting.
