11/9/25 GAMEDAY Bills at Dolphins Gameday Thread
Neo replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wife, daughter, sister, brother in law, tickets, check. Viewed the mayhem last night, over ate and over drank! Go Bills …. PS … every Bills fan, and you all are, should see the Miami invasion with a good Bills team in place once in their life. “Everywhere” is an accurate phrase. Impression - the Bills are so good, and have been for so long, that Miami fans don’t even cheer back. Miami fans look on with blank faces. They have a resigned sense of inevitability and foreboding. The Bills fans are like shingles. They appear periodically, are painfully annoying, cannot be avoided or sent away, and are best suffered in silence while waiting for them to leave on their own. -

I’m at the Marriott Harbor Beach. Send me a note if you want a drink, or three. Elbo room is iconic. Crowded, jostled, loud … but can’t miss if you’re here. I’m on the 15 yard line, Bills side, 28 rows up. You’ll be over my shoulder to my left. It is the sunny side. However, November’s not September, and it won’t feel like Hell’s waiting room. Wear short sleeves and a hat with a visor. In the Josh Allen era, I’d say the smallest proportion of fans chearing for Buffalo is 25%. I’m a math guy and honest … I believe it’s been over 50% and was about that during the playoff “play in” game of January, 2024. Team lands in Fort Lauderdale approximately 3:40. There will be people there. Parking: Pre-pay for your parking pass, do not show up without one. IMPORTANT Tailgate Location: Bills Backers tailgate is on the west side of the stadium. Don’t park on the wrong side unless you want a long walk. Payment: Bring a credit card, the stadium is cashless. Bag Policy: Remember the NFL’s clear bag rule. Hydration: You can bring one unopened bottle of water into the stadium. Food: Outside food is not allowed (except for medical needs). Sun Warning: The Bills sideline is in direct sun for most of the game, plan accordingly with hat, sunscreen, and hydration. -
I don’t think you need a Mensa membership to recognize that making tells public is a bad idea. He did something in the obviously bad idea category. Obviously bad, to anyone. I’d have to know him to understand why it wasn’t obvious to him, or, of it were, why he did it anyway. My human nature guess? Exuberance and the desire to be recognized for savvy and cleverness. You don’t have to be taught that publicizing a tell is a bad idea. You figure that out, yourself. Despite that reasonable expectation, you’re taught it’s a bad idea just in case you don’t figure it out on your own. Hairston flunked at two levels. BTW, most insightful post here points out that if Hairston knows, Andy Reid’s team knows.

“bailing them out of their own chaos” is perfect. He takes time to think. He correspondingly gives Reid time to think. Reid thinks better.

Andy Reid is now designing a back breaker. “He called a time out? Really? OK, gather ‘round.” -

Bernard is lost. He looks like a house league 13 year old defenseman skating backwards for the first time. -

I’m no coach, but I believe McDermott doesn’t feel the time pressure on the other team’s offense as much as he feels the time pressure on his defense. -

We can argue all day about the Bills’ receiver talent, but when you have to throw behind the line of scrimmage on third and long, you have a problem. It’s no longer a “style.”. And yes, we have to do it. No one would call that an NFL first option for third and long. Especially when it’s such a predictable part of your offense. -

What’s the protocol? Do you retire the number 24, first, or put Bishop on the Wall of Fame, first? -
Well, they’ve invested in Lewis, Andreessen and Ingram. Only Georgia and Penn State have more, with four each.

The fan base has had pitchforks and torches out for three years and the Bills are their current most hated foe. They’re aware of the whole “Allen’s your daddy, meme.”. Nothing, and I mean nothing, of value is coming to Buffalo. Generally, I am not a “never trade in the division, or conference” guy. Miami can’t afford to unless it completely disregards the fan base. Of course, the fan base isn’t exactly priority one when deciding a trade’s value. I just don’t see a brand new, or interim, GM sending talent to Buffalo during his first week.

I’m not posting to dispute, but to add layers to my thoughts. Both coaches were involved in roster construction. I’ll give Tomlin a head start, but McDermott’s had nine years of construction time. Both coaches develop talent and put them in position to be All Pros. I like Tomlin’s outcomes. The two are remarkable leadership personalities. Tomlin’s a general you’d follow into battle. McDermott’s a life mentor you’d want your children to know. Tomlin shaped Raheem Morris. We’ll see who McDermott gives us. All three men are special. Jimmye Laycock coached both at William and Mary. Laycock also played for Marv Levy, another leadership personality. Laycock is a special person who raves about both men with profound respect and affection.

Mike Tomlin had an elite quarterback and went to two Super Bowls, winning one. He coached in a third, winning that one. He has three appearances and two victories. Call me in a few years when you want to talk about him and Sean McDermott. Also, the Pittsburgh fan base is split. They don’t hate Tomlin. Those who want to move on have a bar set much higher than our franchise with regard to ongoing expectations. He helped create and sustain those expectations.

James Cook wins the Angry Runs scepter against the Panthers

He wasn’t a three down back. I don’t recall seeing too many people saying your next three quotes. I think you’ve dramatized “He’s not elite”, “he’s not worth $15 million”. and “Ray Davis would be an adequate replacement.”. To close, he’s become elite, and good for us. I’m not criticizing the assessments of others at the time they were made. -

Ten thousand purchasers, generating $350 thousand, would get a 100 foot yacht from Naples to New Orleans and back. So I’m told …. a two to three day trip.
