  1. I sincerely hope the refs allow us to play defense on downfield passes. It's unlikely though. We'll either see Darby getting toasted or getting flagged. I like the kid, but rookies do not get the benefit of the doubt, especially against Luck and their veteran wideouts. Being at home should help that I guess, but I'm still worried. I'm fine if they call it tight as long as it goes both ways and their line isn't permitted to hold all day. I hate to make it about the refs, but I really do worry about the timing of having a great defense. One or two I'll-timed penalties can kill a whole game worth of strong defense. Corbin Bryant may end up the player of the game. The man is legit and has a real nice opportunity in the spotlight here.
  2. They will probably have to trade for someone else's 2nd or 3rd guy if Tyrod gets hurt. There have to be a few teams with quality QB depth (quality backups, not quality starters on the bench I realize). To say it would be over automatically if both QBs went down, given the makeup and approach of this team, is not correct. An argument could be made for any number of guys out there, and a lot of them would have similar odds of success as Tyrod Taylor or EJ Manuel. I really do like Tyrod's chances, because he's been brought up to a starting role the right way, and seems to have a great attitude, like EJ. Roman is capable of positioning either one of them to be successful.
  3. Assuming you're not being sarcastic, I'd be quite surprised if this wasn't addressed before. If that's the case, I fear the thread police would immediately delete it after scolding me. I could search to check and add to an old post, I guess that's strongly preferred to starting fresh. However, I would just be reiterating someone else's point, to which there is no point. I've become quite gun shy on starting new threads.
  4. They should switch back to the standing buffalo permanently. It's a far superior look.
  5. Thank you guys for the clarification. Are threads closed only because they're redundant, or are they also closed because they're just plain bad? I realize that an inappropriate thread would be closed, but a thread like this one, for example, could it be closed simply for making everyone dumber by reading it (and even dumber than that by contributing to it)?
  6. F5. INcredible new thread. I don't even know this language and yet it feels so great to use it. Can someone enlighten me on what the F5 and IN terminology really mean? I am not sure if this is a special club or not? Maybe I am worthy? I read most threads on TBD and contribute here and there. I was at most home playoff games in the 90s as a teenager. I was at the comeback game throughout because I forced my Dad to stay. I attended Suoerbowl XXVI. I just want to know if I am worthy to know what F5 and the IN thing mean. Please??? Pretty please?
  7. I love the idea of calling 2-3 designed QB runs on the first drive or two and then having him work from the pocket after that. Not that I think the Colts are totally ignorant, just that it would most certainly take some teeth out of their pass rush. Getting them to commit a spy or play contain and then passing from the pocket would seem like a sensible approach.
  8. How many complaints do we need about new threads? Maybe that topic is new thread worthy?
  9. This is the best post I can ever recall seeing on TBD.
  10. Don't forget Robert Woods. Think about that catch he made in Chicago last year. I believe that was a big 3rd down and considering the game went to overtime.... Don't forget about him. Actually, do. It helps him.

  12. It definitely reads like this to me. Pretty similar to the Robert Woods demotion last year in the preseason. I could definitely still see Henderson winning this job. Whaley probably made it very clear that his 2nd round guy get a fair shake vs. his 7th round guy. This could be Rex going through the motions to some degree, figuring it doesn't matter much at this early stage. It really would be best if Kouandjio won the RT job, and Henderson becomes swing and an option for LT down the road. Actually, either way is fine, as long as Kouandjio isn't really a bust. It will be very sad if he flames out totally.
  13. This is a great topic and the ideal place for me to state that a lot of people's "cool" tailgate/party recipes are simply God-awful. I can't even think of a good example right now, probably because I have blocked them out of my mind. If a recipe sounds weird, please skip it for the sake of the other guests. Also, people should try to plan so as not to waste half the food brought to a tailgate. Don't bring things with mayonnaise as an ingredient when it's hot out. Now that I got that off my chest.... Chili or soup in a crockpot is ideal for cold games. So is hot apple cider mixed with SoCo. Just don't add the SoCo until you actually pour the hot cider into a mug, or it will evaporate off the top. Whole beef tenderloin, marinated and then dry rubbed and grilled over charcoal, sliced and served on rolls with nothing else is probably my personal favorite, but it's also a costly endeavor. If you're short on time, pick up a pizza and/or wings. Both reheat great on a grill and make people happy. Eat before you drink. This is the key to not ending up puking and passing out in a ditch. Lastly, beer is perfect for early and late season games.
  14. So, just how risky is what he's doing? I tend to believe these kinds of jumps are no more risky than driving a car around these days, especially in winter, especially in the age of extreme distracted driving. Should players and coaches be banned from driving? Let's try to quantify "such risky activity". Maybe it is super risky, but I seriously doubt that's the case. It's not like he's base-jumping with amateurs. For the record, my point is not that it's super cool, just to say that it's not that risky.
  15. Can Taylor play any other position, if he does not win the starting job? What are the chances he gets spot duty as a gadget at QB, RB or WR? Will there be plays when he and EJ are both on the field? I am hardly calling for any of this, but I am curious. I sense the potential for some real creativity on offense, especially given the way the defense performed last year after turnovers and three and outs. They have the players to do some interesting things. It's very exciting.
  16. This was a strong article in general. It would be great to see Gilmore remain healthy and make a couple more big plays. Playing well to very well most of the time, when healthy, isn't good enough for the top corner on a playoff bound team that relies on excellent defense. We need him to improve. I am happy with his play, I just want to be happier.
  17. At one point, I respected Joe B. He has gone downhill, just as he thinks he's somehow ascending the ranks of Buffalo sports reporters. I've never been a huge Sal Capaccio fan, but his written articles have been solid in my book. Joe B has just gotten too "cute" I think. He really jumped the shark when we was watching all that Jake Locker film right before leaving WGR. Generally speaking, I think WGR could use a shakeup. It won't happen though. All four of the main guys seem to be sacred cows and I am quite sure their ratings are excellent these days.
  18. That was a joke in light of my idiotic initial statement. Yes, I see the contradiction and appreciate it being pointed out, truly. "Improved" could still be bottom quarter of the league remember.
  19. I can appreciate these remarks. I should have left the second part out. Anyone who thinks this line will magically be good, especially this year, is kidding themselves (until proven otherwise, obviously). Sure, maybe Glen wasn't 100% last year when he took a step back, maybe Wood is still average to slightly above and not terrible, maybe RI will regain the form he had during that short stretch when he played well, maybe we get decent RT play, maybe a rookie accels in year one. Maybe coaching and scheme have a large impact. How someone can suggest they'll be "shocked" if this line isn't good is beyond me. I am a definite Bills optimist and I still know better! I certainly hope I am wrong, but I don't see too much to be excited about on the O-Line.
  20. It's very sad, but this is absolutely on the money (until proven otherwise). Without a QB, the line is essential to achieving average performance on offense. It's super interesting how the outcome here affects Marrone's reputation. Whaley has performed very well in my book, and I definitely maintain a high level of confidence at this relatively early stage of his GM career. This issue is critical on so many levels. Not sure Mathis makes sense. There are too many mouths to feed as it is. I tend to believe the play of the o-line the last few years is somewhat underweighted when it comes to the QB discussion. When guards are literal turnstiles, it makes it really tough to be effective moving the ball. Our guards should be better.....right? If not, it's going to be really frustrating once again.
  21. She was wearing a picture of him around her neck, along with her credentials.
  22. Manny Lawson's mother was a flight attendant on a recent trip I took. She seemed very down to earth and was of course very proud of her son. She spoke of liking him in Bills colors and hating Bengals colors. It was pretty interesting to talk to her.
