Draft Prospect Interviews with Bills - Post 'em here
LEBills replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
According to Jordan Reid of ESPN both Trenton Simpson and Drew Sanders have both visited the Bills. https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-nfl-draft-espn-names-123513399.html This would bring the total known pre draft visits to 25. -
Too unrealistic, Bill would never draft someone for Mac to throw to. Give them Hendon Hooker
-
I’m not sure Flowers makes it past the Pats but Chiefs showing some unorthodox interest in him

Nice find, that makes 23 visits. Agreed he is a good player. -
I’m glad he is realizing this, now it’s his job to follow through on the field. Its Beane and McDermotts job to get him a RT that can block, a WR that can catch the ball when Diggs is covered and a RB that can get short yardage (maybe Harris if he stays healthy). If they do that for him, Josh won’t feel like he has to be Superman every play.

I don’t think the Bills are going to draft him for a multitude of reasons though you are right they should probably consider it in this class. He is not a player who is going to threaten the edge but he is a player that can play defensive end. Early in his career he will excel against the run. He is fast laterally to get around blockers and strong enough to hold up at the point. He is also a destroyer of pulling guards as he beats the puller into the backfield he is so fast. A good defensive coordinator will put him on many many stunts each game. That is where he had his most pass rushing success in college as it really lets his speed and power shine. He has a long way to go to be a consistent pass rusher from 3tech or edge. He is a project and I don’t think he will ever be a dominant DLineman but it is a weak class and he has the physical ability to be a good player. Could definitely see him in KC at 31 as they love the bigger defensive ends that can move inside on passing downs and he grew up in KC.

Bills also had Deonte Banks CB from Maryland https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/04/19/deonte-banks-closes-out-pre-draft-visits-with-bills/amp/ Today is the last day for pre-draft visits if I read things right. What is interesting is guys like Josh Downs and Calijah Kancey had 0 top 30 visits this cycle. Maybe those two are going to go a lot later than initially thought. Both are very talented but very small for their position. -
TSW Mock Draft 2.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27
LEBills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why would he be done? David Quessenberry is our swing tackle right now, Brown would immediately take that spot. The guy played 8 on 8 HS football. Didn’t play at all his redshirt junior year and declared for the draft early. It would likely be good for a former third round pick who hadn’t played a lot of football to be a backup for a bit, get his body right, and work on his technique as a tackle. As we have seen, he may not be ready quite yet to be a good tackle in the league. -
With the 25th pick in mock draft 2.0, the New York Football Giants select Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina The Giants biggest need at this point is CB. As they have Adoree Jackson for another year and then a whole lot of nothing. Coming from the Bills tree, it is wise to look at their private workouts which Cam Smith happens to be one of. Smith is a battle tested corner who gets PBUs and INTs like they are going out of style. His aggressiveness will match well with the Giants aggressive defensive scheme. The Cowgirls and @Virgil are in the clock.

He is like Jason Witten reincarnate
-
Both times Wentz and Hurts were on rookie contracts where they made very little. It’s harder when you are paying your QB a lot.
-
I’m not sure Howie Roseman knows how to create a good team without a QB on a rookie contract. Guess we will see.

Are you ErieCountyBulls? Haha

Giants, Vikings, bears thanks Virgil

This is a good catch. Another interesting part of the invites is that Addison, JSN and Flowers are invited but not Quentin Johnston https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/nfl-draft/2023-nfl-draft-breakdown-of-17-players-invited-to-draft/ -

Haha you know it. McDermott is calling the defensive plays this year. He is gonna want to look good so we are probably going LB, DT, DT with our first three picks 🤢 -

Sorry that was confusing how I worded that. I meant Hyatt in the second would be good for me or wait until later rounds for Scott or Palmer. If we went Hyatt, at least we are getting someone with an elite trait I will say that. Can’t wait for the draft to be here -

I think we are going to be surprised about Bergeron and how early he goes. To me he has the quickest feet among the top OTs. Johnson, Jones, Bergeron and Wright I think will go rd 1. Skoronski too depending on if he is a guard or tackle on the next level. I’m hoping that Beane’s comments about protecting their franchise QB after the season extends beyond a couple veteran guards but you may be right. For Hyatt, the problem is he basically only had free releases in college and so unless you are going to only put him in the slot you have to hope he can learn to be an outside player like Chark or MVS who he is much thinner than. So I think you are hoping he can develop into that which is a little rich for Rd 1. Matt Harmon does his reception perception for the draft class each year and Hyatt basically only was good at 9s and below average at everything else. A little too much risk for rd 1 for me. Rd 2 I could live with or wait for Tyler Scott or Trey Palmer. But love the thought exercise of your draft, thank you -
Still so many excellent CB and DE available in FA

I would be a bit disappointed if that is how it shook out. Hyatt certainly has an elite trait but definitely have my doubts he can be more than an MVS or DJ Chark. One thing that is interesting to the top 30 visits is local teams do not count against the top 30 visits. I believe for the Bills that includes UB, Penn State and, of course, Syracuse. It was reported that Kromer was working out Matthew Bergeron during SUs pro day. I think Bergeron is going first round and is a top 3 OT for me. In the event of that draft I would go with him. -

I imagine the next wave of signings for the league as a whole will come after the draft and again when it stops affecting comp picks.
