Caption to August 2006: "Oh fer cryin' out loud! What the heck are you guys doing out there? I've run out of fingers and toes, now I'm pulling down my pampers to keep track of the number of stupid penalties you've had!" Or something like that.

WTF is up with all the sports media whining
HopsGuy replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your rant actually answers your question. Basic human nature is to either seek pleasure or avoid pain. The stimulus of hearing or reading something that agrees with your position hits those pleasure centers in your brain. The converse is that an opposing view is "painful". Pointing out others' failings is also pleasureable. Folks here are simply lashing out against those that bring them some pain and that lashing feels good (as you said). And yes, it feels great to write this. -
To quote Jim Halpert: "Right now, this is a job. If I advance any higher, this would be my career. And if this were my career, I'd have to throw myself in front of a train."

Looks good on her. Makes her look 'attainable'. Like Jennifer Aniston on the first two seasons of 'Friends' before she discovered cocaine.

Wow, straight out of the Clip Smith School. Here is South FL, we're getting ready. We're closing the office at 2 PM, but I have to stay until 4. Here's an email that went out: For tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, the office in South FL will be officially closed, however, anyone who is able and can safely make it to work may do so because the building will be open and fully operational. Please check with your manger or department head on the needs for your department beforehand. Also, please remember to check the Emergency Hotline for update information. Something tells me that given the option of determining if they should come to work or not, the average worker will stay home. Anyone care to wager on the percent occupancy of my office tomorrow?

The way I read it, you are perfectly within your rights to start up a puppy farm. You just need to be able to unload those critters within the first 5 months. Nothing in there about alpacas?

How many credits are you short? Would the degree be from the University of Michigan? Do you have the funds to finish? Can you do it at night? That would be a nice piece of paper to have.

That would be a short conversation. "More Ws, less Ls. Oh yeah, one other thing: change back to the old colors."

Someone needs to tell that to Prince, 'cause that crazy dude is at the top of the heap for garnering high-end a$$: Appolonia Vanity Kim Basinger Sheila E Sheena Easton Carmen Elektra

I actually thought Slater was cool in that movie. He offed Drexl, schmoozed Lee, and got away with the girl and the money. Alabama said, "You're so cool." Jay in 'Dogma': "Judd Nelson was harsh." I stand by these proclamations, trivial as they may be. I'll second the Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. "It would appear that the strain was more than he could bear."

DeNiro/Pacino - "Heat". Clint and the end of "Unforgiven". Christian Slater in "True Romance". Judd Nelson in "Breakfast Club". Kevin Smith in "Clerks".

Gregg Easterbrook talked about this topic in one of his TMQ columns a while back. Here's a snippet: Here's a link.

"Is this some kind of bust?" "Yes, it's very impressive. But we have some questions for you."

There is a warning on Hormel Pepperoni packages: Do Not Eat Packet. I didn't believe it when someone told me this, but gosh darn if it isn't true.

The buffet table claims another victim

During the press tour for that movie, a reported asked him if this was the first time he played a gay character. Kilmer responded, "You mean other than Top Gun?" -

Why does everyone forget his greatest performance? Chris Knight is a role model for an entire generation of engineers. -
You know how I've always said new bands suck?

I just modified my Motorola RAZR V3 so that the first 20 seconds of "Mr. Brightside" is my ringtone. Chicks dig it. See also, "Franz Ferdinand". -
I added "Sunny" to my Season Pass list just a few weeks ago. Now I'm addicted. So far, my favorite is "Charlie Wants An Abortion", but my favorite scene is Mac kissing the tranny on the steps of the museum with the sun coming up in the background à la Rocky. Too funny. Good stuff.

Walk the Slugger or pitch to poorest hitter

My $0.02: A society is judged by how it treats the least of its members. They should have pitched to the slugger. -
Happy Birthday to one of the top bastages

Says here in my copy of the US Constitution that you can now be President. Assuming of course, that you meet all citizenship requirements. Happy, happy. -
Should Kiss be in the rock and roll HOF?
HopsGuy replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
After I become dictator, the second eduational requirement after sign language is that every student must learn a musical instrument (drums and their ilk do not count, sorry cowbell fans). A modest understanding of music theory will help the world to do away with pop schlock. After that, world peace will be a piece of cake. -
In Ken Burns' "Baseball", there was a professor from Washington University, Gerald Early, who says in the very opening moments of the film, "When archaeologists study our civilization 2,000 years from now, we'll be known for only three things: the Constitution, Baseball and Jazz music." That always sticks with me. I can't choose between Nirvana or AiC. I've always liked Pearl Jam better than either. I do know, however, heroine addiction is bad for you.

Anybody here Mets Fans...
HopsGuy replied to Mike formerly from Florida's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was at the Marlins-Mets game last night. Mets fans outnumbered Fish fans about 3:2. Of course, when Josh Willingham hit the walk-off, it was the Mets fans that sounded like crickets. Beltran's homer was a bomb, though. I'm going tomorrow night for Dontrelle vs. Pedro. Should be interesting. -
Nothing to see citizen, now move along
HopsGuy replied to Fezmid's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Something similar happened to a friend of mine in Miami. He was taking pictures of police arresting some dude and the dude was resisting a bit, so the police were getting rough. We they saw my friend taking pictures, one of them came over and told him to stop. My friend says "Okay", but about a minute later he was taking pictures again. So they roughed him up a bit. Of course, he's a law student at Northwestern, so he's up on his civil rights. Last time I heard he was thinking of taking action and turning it into a paper for school. I'll let you know if I hear anything further. BTW, he was hammered. I saw him in downtown Ft. Lauderdale at 1 AM earlier in the night. I can just imagine his state when this stuff happened. -
I had that along with lots of casino chips that were never cashed. I used to have a stack of numbers on napkins/business cards of girls I'll never call. Now I just have to take a few minutes each month to delete them from my cell phone. How about take-out menus held to the fridge with multiple magnets?
