  1. No. He lost that job to Deonte Thompson (who was signed off the street for <$600k). Zay is WR3 and should be in the slot, at best, to start the year.
  2. If it's me, I'm keeping Leonard Johnson, Deonte Thompson, Nick O'Leary, Preston Brown, Cedric Thornton, and Eddie Yarbrough. I'm willing to let the rest walk unless they are taking a very cap friendly deal.
  3. Washington's WRs are better than those 4 from the Bengals game, but regardelss look at the production w/ and without Jordan Reed (their Charles Clay). The Redskins scored ~25.3 points per game when Jordan Reed played, and only 18.3 points per game when he didn't (we scored 16 against the Bengals). The run game is meaningless when there is no threat to catch the football. As soon as Clay left injured the defense only needed to cover McCoy. There was no other threat on the field.
  4. Look again at that WR group. You may have seen them and thought they were open, they may not have been where they were supposed to be. I'm not saying Tyrod has never missed a pass opportunity, of course, but there's absolutely no way a team trots that WR group out and expects a D to take them seriously.
  5. Outside of Brady/Rodgers/Brees, no QB was scoring with the garbage that we fielded to catch passes against Cincy once Clay went down. It was so bad that they had to sign Deonte Thompson (a guy who was cut from the Bears, who didn't exactly have elite wr talent on the roster) off the street 2 days after the game. In case people don't remember, here are the WRs: Zay Jones - 1 Catch, 9 Yards, 6 Targets Brandon Tate - 2 Catches, 25 Yards, 1 TD, 4 Targets Andre Holmes - 0 Catches, 1 Target Kaelin Clay - 0 Catches 1 Target
  6. They don't have much opportunity. Only 1 pick in the first 2 days as it currently stands.
  7. There were really only 3 standout QB performances against us in 2015. Brady had like 460 & 3 with no picks; Cousins had ~310 4 TDs, 1 Rush TD, No picks; and Hoyer had ~290 3 TD & 1 pick. Next best after that was probably Alex Smith who had 255, 2 & 0.
  8. I'll be interested to see how Jimmy looks after 41 more starts. He also has a great offensive mind behind him in Shanahan. I will never be able to forget how Cousins completely shredded the Bills in 2015. I was 50 yard line 7th row. 4 Passing TDs and a Rushing TD .
  9. My argument, in this case, would be that Cousins is the significantly safer bet. Not that he is better, but that you have a sample size of 48 starts over the past 3 seasons. He has some plusses and some minuses, but ultimately he has been highly productive all 3 years and the production has not just been due to volume. Looking strictly at efficiency stats, he has a YPA of 7.80 over those 3 years (good for 5th among QBs with at least 450 attempts), he has a TD% of 4.80% (13th), he has a TD/TO ratio of 1.96, but that also comes with an average of 2 TDs per game played. Only 5 QBs in the league are responsible for more TDs per game than Cousins over the past 3 years. Rodgers, Brady, Luck, Newton, and Brees (Russ Wilson is tied).
  10. Barring Cousins, yes. If we get Cousins, then I still expect a QB - just later. Like a Mike White or Riley Ferguson on day 3.
  11. You're asking why a team might pass on Palmer/Leftwich/Boller in 2003 knowing that Eli, Rivers, Big Ben and Losman are coming in 2004. If you take Manning & Rivers out of the 2004 class then it might've looked silly, but in reality they are a part of that class.
  12. But you can't just factor out the 2 best prospects in the context of this discussion. That makes absolutely no sense.
  13. Why leave out top prospects though? He was looking at Rosen, Darnold, Watson, Mayfield, Mahomes, Rudolph, Jackson, Trubisky, and others. Generally speaking, at least 2+ QBs from the 2018 class grade out higher than any available QB in 2017. Possibly more depending on who you ask and what traits you're looking for.
  14. I don't think you are understanding. When McD took the job there was never a plan that was going to fix all of the team's problems in a single offseason. He looked at the available prospects in the 2017 draft class and free agents and determined where he felt the strengths of the class were and what holes on the roster he could adequately fill. He also looked at the likely 2018 draft prospects and free agents and went through a similar, though more preliminary exercise. Even in February of 2017 it wasn't very hard to tell that the pool of available QBs in 2018 were a much stronger group than 2017. The FO acted accordingly to the multi-year plan that they set out. They drafted to the strength of the 2017 class and picked up ammo to move around in the 2018 draft, if needed. Of course you don't go in saying, "No matter what, no QBs!" but you also have to realize that when there are multiple prospects higher on your board, with much higher grades, you aren't going to pass them up for a QB you aren't sold on. If Watson dropped to 27 or to round 2 or something because of his throwing velocity then maybe value meets opportunity, but that's not what happened. If you surveyed the leagues owners last year and asked how many of them would be willing to go into a draft with a board that had no QBs in the top 10 players it would be perfectly acceptable in a year like last year or 2013.
  15. I'm not lending credibility to anyone. Just pointing out that Watson/Mahomes were never the plan. As it stands, they picked up a 1st in 2018 and still drafted a CB that they had graded similarly to the prospect they intended to take at #10. What lacks logic is to fret over a decision that OBD was never planning on making in the first place. As soon as McD came in and made his evaluations the plan was to address QB in 2018.
  16. Isn't it all kind of moot? If they stayed at 10 they were taking Lattimore. Whether they replaced the scouts in February or May I don't really see that changing.
  17. The weather? He's a Michigan guy, he's not bothered by the weather. The WR group was bad last year, but they added to it. You just need to hope they're healthy. But if you have 16 games of Benjamin, Jones, Streater, Thompson (maybe), McCoy, Clay, plus an FA then there are worse groups. The issue this year was availability. The best guys on the list were acquired mid-season and injured for a portion of the year. Defensive HC is an issue? Denver - Defensive HC Arizona - Defensive HC & First time HC Jets - Defensive HC Jacksonville - A HC who is quoted saying that ideally his QB would throw 0 times per game.
  18. Peterman wishes he was the prospect that Rudolph is. Let's try avoid settling for what we have by talking down available options.
  19. 22 was used on Foles. 21 was traded to Pitt. Fun read Kirby! I'm planning on doing something similar, including contracts & cap stuff, once I get some time.
  20. Nope, just giving you the last time it happened. Didn't even take a full season, or 100 catches! (it was 95 I think)
  21. Sammy got there in 2015 in just 13 games
  22. Well he certainly didn't see eye to eye with him, if that's what you mean.
  23. Thompson wasn't signed to our roster until after the Bengals game.
