Week 9 thread - We’re on to Cincinnati
Billsfan1972 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow the Bills really showed everyone with their play vs. Jimmy G & Sam Howell..... You got to be kidding??? Yes I know you are using Sam Howell as an example because he's played well vs. Philly. Next you'll go on about them stopping Tua (which Philly did too). Tua had a decent game, and Buffalo played well. And before you start I'm an optimist and all I want is 3-4 stops from the Bills Defense (i.e. Punts) and flipping the field and the Bills will win. -

Can't help yourself, can you???? More context as this was a comment made during the improbably McD run of 48 games with no 300 yard passing games and many games that I would categorize as "stinkers", where yes if the offense was opened up, maybe the results may have been different and too with Allen seen a quicker learning curve. Yes I'm a fan that loves a 38-35 slugfest (see Philly-Wash as an example), over the NYJ-NYG game last weekend. Will you just let it go???? -

I said the same thing. Some people I don't think watched those games and now hail Cincy as a juggernaut. Like Denver (which they dominated) over KC. The Bills however let Mac Jones go 75 yards, which is not "Any Given Sunday"......😡😜 -

Some people i.e. Royale with Cheese have a real chip on their shoulder, get very upset when McD is questioned and seem to take things way more personally then others. I'm much like you no expert but a passionate Bills fan who is concerned that with Allen this represents a window that may close quickly and want that SB win. The Bills made 4 straight SB's (didn't get it done), and then once Kelly was gone went through a drought. A little hope at the end of the century when a dynamic (not all-time great) QB came in (Flutie) and then came one of the all-time stupidest calls (Rob Johnson qb), followed by the drought. Sorry that some here are antsy and use this forum to vent. -

The one's pre-losing are generally the McD apologists. Prove me wrong.... Any team with Josh Allen as QB, should be winning 12+ games a year. Yes sometimes things go wrong, but too often losses of late can be hung on the coaching. -
Doesn't mean I don't still think the Bills are the better team, especially with Allen as their qb. Btw Cincy's defence has not been good, except inside their 10 yard line. This is an important game where they need to show their mettle. McD too needs to show he is a big game coach.

Missing the point...... But you too are happy with the losses to the Jets, Jax & NE. You're in a good place & I'm happy for you. -

I was fine when the Bills were a run of the mill team. They aren't and they have the best QB in the NFL. No excuses. -

You enjoy those losses. Go right ahead. -

Good ahead and bring up the other 31 teams, I'll worry about the Bills. -
We can agree there. The Bills have been disappointing, however winning Sunday could be a turning point. This team can and should win. Sorry if I'm a homer.

Of course it is hyperbole, but Mac Jones, who just a week earlier in the same situation vs. LV instead gave up a safety (and made a lot of bettors upset) in a similar situation. Couldn't get 2 plays off. Geez missing the point???? -
Purdy put up 500 yards vs. them, threw awful interceptions (and a strip fumble), which was more on him then the Cincy defence. Geno Smith threw for over 300 too. I will however admit their D does tighten up around the goal line.

You are a piece of work. There isn't a fan here who doesn't want the Bills to win every game. Last year, they were very close to it. 2021 they were probably even better but lost every close game. This is a very important game, and if the Bills lose you'll be okay, because Cincy is so superior to them, right????? But you keep being you.😜
-
More than fair. I have had the Bills 16 or 17-0 the last 4 seasons, so yep I'm bound to be disappointed. Cincy is a good team and presents problems vs. the Bills, however I do think the Bills are the better team and if ever should be motivated (and looking past an opponent) this week it is. But the thread is appropo as Cincy is over hyped imo.
-
That's okay for some as you read through these threads and this is what drives me nuts. We should expect a win, a solid gameplan and everyone motivated.
-
I agree, but the Pats playoff game frankly there was no reason the Bills shouldn't have steamrolled them as they did 2 weeks prior. This was the windstorm year and the Bills were a much superior team. Yes it was a perfect game, and this often is the issue, when all is going well, this team looks unstoppable.
-
What are you on? Find me a single post where I've said the Bills lose. The only thing I do bang on is that I think McD is the one overrated here and is to be blamed for many of the shortcomings. Royale with Cheese you have some homework to do (and yes oldmanfan will bring up the 300 yard comment from 5 years ago) and find me where I was not optimistic.
-
There are people who make excuses all the time and vs. Cincy, now it is that they are a way better team and that the Bills will lose. The excuses write themselves and actually a lot are exactly what was written leading into the Miami game. As a Bills fan and optimist I just don't think they fly. I expect a similar game to the Miami one, but closer, and what I want to see is the Bills offense not take their foot off the pedal (and the defense make a play or two to flip the field).
-
Because the Offense slept walk most of the game and the Defense allowed 500 yards (yeah yeah, injuries). Make a stop and the offence play with urgency.
-
Geez a McD Avatar tells me why you posted that. Will the Bills lose? Maybe, maybe not. The thread is "We're Overhyping the Bengals", which is 100% correct. The excuses never end from McD apologists (yes I said it).
-
Was he dinged up vs. Seattle too? He was not very good that game.

And I think the same about you. Who was the home team in those games and the betting favourite? I'll answer it for you..... The Bills. I expect them to win and yes vs. NE it was a joke as the Pats were a lousy team. Did the Bills as is often the case with this team, when all is going well look like the best team in a decade? Yes that is the Bills. They were unstoppable on offence and yes with Allen, I come to expect that. Miami put up 70, but were coming into Buffalo that too was looking pretty unstoppable after LV & Washington and Miami had no answer for the Bills Offence, so while they only scored 20, they did move the ball, but were too forced to play catch up. The Superbowl Champs looked tough, but we all see how far they fell last year (they were not a good team). Lamar in playoffs we know the book and again the Bills were the favourite at home. They were the better team. Actually my concern was the offense that day was meh. Again the Bills were one of the top 3 betting favourites for the SB and still are: https://www.thelines.com/odds/super-bowl/
