  1. Realistically speaking yes the season is done. We would need to see a drastic turn-around on defense for me to gain any faith in this year. The team gets too many penalties and gets lit up by good offenses for me to think otherwise. somewhere between 6-10 and 9-7. We'll look back on Jax and see it as the 2014 Kansas City Loss.
  2. EJ had a chance to win the game with 2+minutes let's not forget. These EJ support groups are missing the point with all of these 'yeah...buts'. Yeah but...he bounced back really well... great, the defense let up to just protect the lead Yeah but...21 points should have been enough pts to win against the bengals"... WRONG. It wasn't enough points. And I'd argue that if the game was closer, it would have been 17 pts maximum that he would have scored. Everyone ignores the game flow when breaking down EJ's successes, but when the opposing defense need to stop EJ, they do so with ease. This could not have been more apparent on the final drive of the Jax game. He failed when it counted... He is the biggest reason by far that they lost this game. I'll give him credit for not completley folding during one of the worst 3-drive stretches in the history of quarterback play... But he is a terrible quarterback.
  3. I'm all for bashing on the defense with their failure to come even close to preseason expectations... but this last game was not on the defense. 1. The final drive was significantly aided by an incorrect PI call. If the correct call was made, this thread doesn't exist and the Bills hold on 4th and 15. 2. The 3 drives prior to the last Jax drive resulted in two 3 and outs and a pick-6 (would have held as the game winner if not for the PI call IMO) 3. Bortles made a great play avoiding pressure and throwing the TD to Hurns. Gotta give him some credit. I wish we could call our D elite, but they aren't right now. However they played solid against Jax. It would be nice to not even have to worry about bad officiating to swing the balance of the game.
  4. You're looking at this all wrong... This is the start of paying for the games and tv that you want, and not paying extra for the extra bull ****. The internet is going to eventually take over cable and satellite broadcasting. It's about time that these ****ty cable providers have some legit competition.
  5. Agreed^ People forget that the Bills were handcuffed to taking a qb in 2013 draft. EJ will be a career back up. It boggles my mind that Bills fans who have watched Tyrod and EJ can come to the conclusion that EJ should be the starter... Everyone's point to the one bad passing game that Tyrod had, go back and look at some of the drops and 'slips' that cost the offense some first downs. They never got into rythm vs Ten, some was on TT, a lot on the rest of the Offense, but my god it's embarrassing hearing Bills fans think that EJ should start over TT!
  6. ^...that guy that laughs at his own joke to cover up the crickets
  7. If there's one thing I'd say the Bills have been better at over the past 15 years than any other team.... It's being a team that misses the playoffs as a result of their flaws... I'd say Bills fan can recognize these signs pretty easily, and are better than any other team in the league as a result of all this practice! The problems that are being brought up are legit concerns that will most likely cause us to miss the playoffs at our current rate. We've watched this team miss the playoffs 15 years in a row. To belittle anyone who says 'same old bills'... well, that statement has been very accurate for a long time now.
  8. Great point. It really upsets me that Whaley was not in charge of selecting the head coach. Pegula pulled this crap when he purchased the sabres too. He went out threw money at the most expensive free agents without any unified stance throughout the organization. If he allows Rex to stay, I wouldn't be surprised if Whaley jets which would be horrible for the Bills, as he's brought in some incredible talent the past few years. Ideally, Rex adapts for now, and can get on the same page as Whaley going forward. But like you said, money is now tied up long term in players that don't fit Rex's scheme! This sadly could be a recipe for the Bills sucking another 5 years. Why does this team drive me so nuts One thing Bills fans are good at is knowing what a ****ty teams looks like! We've got the most experience out of any NFL Fan! If anything shouldn't be disregarded, it's when a Bills fan tells you that something sucks!
  9. Umm did you forget that EJ is the back up... and not the starter? He played fine for a back up. If our defense hadn't been ruined by Rex, 21 should have been enough to win. Tyrod is our qb and has the potential to be great. We need O-line help with the draft, a qb is not even on the radar for now
  10. With the problems on defense right now, this team isn't going anywhere. Please realize, 34 points to the Bengals came 3/4 of the way through the game. The Pats scored all their points 3/4 of the way through... This D is worse than the stats even show! It was a blow out. If the Bengals needed more points, they would have broken 40. People say the D played well vs Tennessee... that game was one play, one flag, one bounce from getting out of hand. The Bills D was very fortunate to hold Tennessee to 13pts. If they played them 10 times, they would not hold them to the same. Seriously, Rex either needs to coach and adjust the D so that it works, or get the hell out
  11. Yes I do, because teams don't get to know what the statistics and injuries are going to look like in the future when making a draft pick. You need to look at the time this selection was made. Watkins at the time of the draft was far and away the number 1 wide receiver in the draft. Some were saying best prospect since Calvin Johnson! You can monday morning quarterback all you want and be pissed that we didn't wait for Beckham (who wouldn't look like the ROY he was last year on the Bills offense, and we'd be chastising Whaley for not jumping on Sammy who'd probably be lighting it up elsewhere!), but in the end, we've got a GM that's made some bold moves in the draft, as well as trades. You can't ask for anymore from your GM
  12. I support every move that Whaley has made. He needs to be given more control...which may include him firing Rex..time will tell if Rex can adjust to the talented defensive roster and create more appropriate schemes.. it boggles my mind that we have to worry about this, as the defense was the one thing going into the season that I was comfortable with. People that try to point out that drafting EJ was a poor decision by Whaley are way out of line. Going into that draft the Bills did not have a starting qb or veteran on their roster (goodbye Fitz). We had no choice to take a qb in that draft. Whaley traded down and took EJ in the first. What would we rather hiim do? Go into the season without any quarterback and just forfeit the season? The next two qbs taken were Geno and Nassib. Hoping that any of these guys end up availabe in the later rounds was not an option based on the Bills current roster at the time. The Bills were handcuffed by a bad draft class of quarterbacks when they took EJ. Whaley made the only reasonable decision at the time.
  13. Went out and made all these expensive free agent signings that didn't fit/match the teams style of play... Well it seems like Pegula went out and hired the big name free agent coach, who's scheme doesn't match the roster. Ryan was hired based on Pegula's gut feeling... He should have left the hiring decision in Waley's hands alone and gotten out of the way! This season feels like it's on the verge of crashing to the ground fast...aka a loss to Jacksonville next week
  14. Does anyone know/remember what Waley's stance was on the Rex Ryan hire? I'm sure he had some influence when the Pegula's hired Rex, but I'm wondering how much of an endorsement he gave, if any for Rex. These types of games (loss to the Bengals) that we just saw worry me that we may need multiple drafts to get the right personel in to fit Rex's scheme... unless we are just watching a defense that is still learning a new style (which I don't buy at this point) Anyways, if scheme and player fit is currently the problem with the Bills D, I would assume Waley should have know that this would be a problem going into the season...which further makes me wonder if Waley supported the Rex hire from the start, or if Pegula just went with his gut with Rex. Remember, the message and stance from Rex and Waley regarding player cuts has been tip-toed around with much tension.
  15. Like i said, this is a hypothetical, the 30% number is made up. But there is a clear risk reward decision that needs to be made. Obviously the Bills were wrong about Mccoy, regardless of what he or trainers said if he was good to go. Sometimes you need to take a more cautious approach especially when a reinjury causes significant time loss. If Watkins plays, my primary concern about the game is that he does not re-aggrevate his calf. Secondary concern will be for them to win the game. If he rests an extra week, and then plays against miami and jacksonville, I think our chances of winning those games are pretty solid.
  16. I reject your supposition that the exact consideration you're calling for isn't already being made. Still, if the Bills are taking this into account, so far they've made the wrong decisions by rushing guys back. Going forward I'd prefer to look at the next 3 game stretch and be realistic trying to win 2 of 3. The best way to do this is to have your guys as close to 100% as you can get them
  17. So if I told you that Watkins is good to go for the game. However he has a 30% chance of reinjury causing him to be out 6-8 weeks OR Watkins sits out one more week and his chance of reinjury goes down to 5%/game Which do you pick? Obviously this is hypothetical/made up numbers, but I think this needs to be accounted for. If we had rested Mccoy an extra week before pushing him, he's most likely not out with a hamstring the next two weeks
  18. My point is to not rush anyone back for the Bengals game. If an extra week allows our main guys to get closer to 100%, I think it makes strategic sense. I dont think all players listed need to sit out the next four weeks, but should be either eased back in when they are actually ready. The worst thing that could happen Sunday, would be for Watkins to play, get injured, miss extended time, and the Bills still lose. We need to be smart. Rushing Mccoy back was a blunder... a hamstring injury for a rb needs to heal, and then needs an extra week to heal to the point where it won't be re-injured. So far this year our staff has not been smart dealing with injuries... Aaron Williams was rushed back, Mccoy was rushed back, Taylor was put in a passing play after getting hurt, Karlos somehow finished the game with a concussion. I think Rex is treating these regular season games like must win playoff games, we gotta smarten up
  19. I'd be okay with not trying to win this game at all costs... Sit Watkins Sit Taylor Sit Mccoy Sit Karlos Let's get people healthy, after the Bengals we get Jacksonville followed by Miami followed by a bye. We should go 2-1 this stretch by resting these four players to get ready for our playoff run. Let's be smart. I just read a quote by Watkins regarding his calf injury...."If it pops, it pops"....this is a terrible approach. This is not a playofff/must win game.
  20. I Love this matchup for our defense. At least one score from the defense. Bill will hold the Bengals under 13 points.
  21. Anyone who is upset over the Cassel situation is delusional.... If you are a GM, you do not bank on a 3rd string quarterback getting you into the playoffs. Most teams carry only 2 quarterbacks. If they are both injured, well I don't care who your 3rd stringer is, they will not carry you to the playoffs or win many if any games. Same line as with Fred Jackson. I've heard so many people saying oh how bout now not having Jackson doesn't that suck... you're right, we should keep 6 running backs on the roster to assume that the top 5 would be injured by week 6. There is not a single team in the NFL that maintains it's power ranking or it's season expectations when they lose their starting qb.... super bowl contenders drop to playoff births, and playoff bubble teams drop to outside looking in.
  22. Nevermind... Tyrod is out... We're doomed!!!! going to be a tight one now
  23. Calling it now, the Buffalo Bills will beat the Bengals! I believe our defense is match-up nightmare for the Bengals that loves to stretch the field. Dalton is in for a surprise as he runs into Dareus pushing the pocket into him every time he tries to step up to throw deep (see the one Marriota throw down field that resulted in a pick for reference) The Bengals believe they are super bowl contenders... I think they stick to their current offensive game plan that's worked for them through the first 5 weeks as a result. 4+ sacks 3+ turnovers (1 for 6pts) Give me another 20 pts from the offense 27 - 13 BILLS WIN!
  24. so tired of this forum being used for idiots to vent. Losing interest in this site.
