Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
Sojourner replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok thanks. Just think that’s one name on the poorer teams that has no chance of being moved. Saints don’t have much room to work with in the cap, $14m in the red I believe and did pick up Olave’s contract. Think that’s the point why they’d move on from him like some people are hoping. Gives them more cap flexibility whilst recouping a high draft pick and possible player/s? Texans don’t have much either but significant space that some restructuring would help. Add on to that Collins’ contract is factored into that, one that is extremely low in comparison to the league for a guy of his talents when healthy. Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel seem like they’re struggling and the only guy on that team outside of Collins who is worth anything is Tank Dell, who has serious durability concerns with his size. Collins is pivotal for Stroud and that offense’s future successes. That’s where I’m at. But, if in some world Collins is available you go balls to the wall. -

Serious question; do you actually believe he is remotely available?! -
Atlanta is rife with Gentleman’s Clubs. Must be his disguise.

Absolute stud. In a previous post it’s understandable how he became a headcase in Pittsburgh. Would see nothing, make one or two catches; one of that type of quality you linked, and then back to nothing. It wasn’t like Pittsburgh had insane talent at that position too. I think many would be lead to frustration if they produced stuff like that then were given nothing for sustained periods. Someone mentioned him being a headcase like Antonio Brown and Diggs. I can see it but in the right circumstances where he is THE guy, I think he contains himself and shows some decorum. -
Oh I understand that and I’m not advocating that he’s starter quality but he has the success to be a backup in this league. That SEC is filled with talent on the defensive lines who he lined up against regularly, a lot of which ended up being in the league albeit briefly. Im sure part was his counterparts on the line as well to facilitate that success but you don’t walk out of a stacked conference with all pro awards and a blocking trophy simply by winning on your size and strength alone. One singular isolated year? Sure. Multiple? That’s some talent there. Technique is fundamentally it in the pros so I can’t disagree on your main point. Especially given the work Kromer has done to develop the guys we’ve had in and out of the offensive line over the last 4 seasons

Again, the guy is a number one. Targets 8-12 p/g) needed to meet the production and keep him complacent from throwing a tantrum. Dallas has worked wonders for him. 1) because CeeDee is injured and 2) he’s in a contract year after getting traded. Dude makes ridiculous catches routinely. -
Still amazed SVPG hasn’t developed into even a remotely decent backup. Guy was a stud for 3 years for the Bulldogs. Won the award for best blocker in the SEC his final season, was all-pro SEC multiple times and unless I remember incorrectly only gave up one sack during his collegiate career that amassed around 1500 pass blocking reps. I get some players don’t just work out but he has the caliber and performance in the college ranks to at least be a backup at worst.

Why did you not keep 4 and 6 then?!? -
Need to get Ed Oliver involved in the scouting then. “Head of Horse Power talent”.

Hard pass on Ridley. He’s seeing some serious volume for the Titans and doing absolutely nothing with it outside the outlier of a game he had last week. Jeudy? No thanks. Another guy that’s only productive when seeing serious volume of targets. Marvin Harrison might have been a shot if he didn’t finally show up in that Seattle game where to start he continued dropping balls and showing little effort and smarts on plays. Even then, they probably hang on to him. You don’t move on from a guy one year after drafting him that high. Wilson and Waddle aren’t being traded to a divisional rival unless it’s astronomical compensation. Olave is the only guy on your list. Keon and a second wouldn’t be a bad trade. The fans aren’t happy with him and are dogging him left and right for some of his play against the Pats this past weekend. Seems like a perfect replacement; whipping boy switch. -

If he turns that program around with Dart, sure. I’ll finally tip my hat to him as a HC. Otherwise it was just a case of Josh catapulting him to success. -
Maybe but Pickens strikes me as player who has to be the main guy on a WR core and as long as he has that he’ll be good. The kid was making plays left and right with some unreal catches when targeted in Pittsburgh then wouldn’t see the ball again for large spells, I can understand the frustrations he had regarding that. Sometimes you have to deal with the guys who are unhinged if they can be a serious addition to the team. Hopefully we investigate signing him this off-season if he becomes available because that talent isn’t available every year. however, I don’t think we’ll be able to acquire his services as he’s going to get a massive deal, no question about that.

How long until the question becomes about Brady being on the sidelines?

Like where you’re going but I can’t see the Saints trading both of those guys this year. Maybe one before trade deadline and the other after the season. Olave for a 2nd and ship Keon the other way? Olave would be working the same things Keon should/is. There’s a couple other guys I have interest in and are currently Free Agents. They would be for the Safety position: Jordan Whitehead and Marcus Williams. One is still young and played reasonably well for a SB winner. The other a seasoned vet who’s been decent when he’s been available to play. If CB is going to be a serious issue, what about Asante Samuel Jr.? What about LB? Isaiah Simmons had a quality season a few years ago and he some great measureables. Is he seriously that bad or not coachable that no one is willing to give him a shot? WR’s there isn’t much out there who could be signed. KJ Osborn? Michael Gallup? Just spit balling but it is evident we need to do something to shore up depth with all these injuries.

All of our players suck, or so I’m told. Addition by subtraction?! Oh wait… Carry on!

Giants, 9ers, possibly the Colts (Warren for Kincaid wash), the Chiefs (minus Rice) and (going into next week down Egbuka) the Bucs. Weird how all those teams made things work despite personnel issues. Now, it isn’t pretty or eye catching production but it is there. But, for the sake of your point. Yes. It’s one of the worst in the league right now.
-
Definitley, teams have worked on shutting us down and have a pretty good recipe. However, there’s plenty of teams in the league who has personnel issues, no otherworldly QB and still come out effective. I’ve seen multiple times Brady, Manning, Montana, Rodgers, Brees and other stud QBs talk or be mentioned how Theyre always in meeting telling coaches of plays to call or not to call. “Think about that”. If we’re still running the same sht week in week out, there’s more than just one person at fault. I have a track record of taking shots at Josh? Lol holding him accountable isn’t taking shots at him whatsoever so please, for a guy who always states people mean things one way or the other, back it up. Ive advocated nothing but excuses for Josh more often than not and highlight the bigger issues of it being Josh AND X, Y or Z. Not one or the other. Our issues aren’t isolated to a vacuum. Your propensity and panache of making things up that people have said to “win” or bolster your point on the other hand…
-
Listen man, I’m not saying there isn’t an issue. The guy is an MVP. You talk about adapting but Josh shouldn’t be able to? Come on man.
