That would be a bad idea. Russia (by whatever name it's gone by over the last 120 years), has always had a hardon for railroads and the supporting industries for railroads. Refineries are huge, complicated networks of high quality metalurgy, electronics, computing...not to mention any skilled personnel who are killed or injured when they're hit. They also underpin a critical sector of Russia's commodity driven export economy. The big mistake that most strategic bombing campaigns make is targeting important, but highly resiliant targets (like say, Lutfwaffe fighter production and associated industries in WWII), instead of bombing critical targets until they are eliminated (like say, Nazi ball bearing production or petroleum/synthetic petroleum production and refining facilities in WWII). One route imposes painful, useful short-term effects that provide short term advantages, the other sends Bad Things rocketing through the enemy's war economy, requiring all sorts of painful tradeoffs to avoid catastrophic consequences. We'll see.

So in actual news... Ukraine has adopted a new drone strategy. They are launching large, repeated, attacks against Russia's oil refining infrastructure. They've hit 3-4 refineries in the last week, and are re-engaging previous targets that were only damaged. This is A Big Deal, in that anyone with sufficient drone building capacity, and the right drones, can execute a strategic bombing campaign. In the sense that they can pick a critical segment of the opposing economic and political order, then attack it until it's destroyed, then keep attacking it to prevent repair or rebuilding. No implications there for the coming war with China... And the plan for now is to keep putting the screws to Russia. SecState Rubio and the EU agree to keep up a Maximum Pressure strategy on Russia.

Well, since sports fandom is 100% voluntary, why do you chose to follow such an obviously incompetent franchise of mediocrities? It takes about 100 keystrokes to buy a Mahomes jersey and make an account on ChiefsPlanet. You can leave all us rubes and suckers behind and spend your days worshiping at the altar of Ring Culture.

Hot Take: Does Bobby Babich Lose His Job?
Coffeesforclosers replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
I want to know how much freedom Babich has, and how much pull he's got in the Draft room. I loved that he tries to be multiple on defense. That he abandons Rush 4/Play Zone if that's a bad matchup week to week or in the post season. The problem is that the team is still built for Rush 4/Play Zone, and he knows that we can't trust better execution and/or deception to beat the bestQ Bs in the post season. If he's in charge and serious about the new direction of the D, we'll be adding size and speed this off-season. I'll judge him for real at the end of next season. What this D needs more than anything is an elite DL. Unfortunately that's what every D everywhere needs. -

I read that and thought Rob Van Dam. It's early yet. -
The most positive thing I saw this season was the team finally adopt a pragmatic, physical, small ball identity on offense. The next most positive thing I saw was the team attempt to be as physical and pragmatic on defense as it is on offense. I say attempt because it didn't succeed. We don't have a group of above average DL, or a single truly elite DL player. We really did take Elite safety play for granted during the years of Dr. Poyer and Mr. Hyde. Sadly, the D needs a retooling if it wants to be truly multiple. Our pass rush is average, our Blitzing is average, our man coverage is average. Something on D needs to be elite if we're going to get over the hump.

The more playoff football I watch, the more I believe Bill Belichek's truism that more football games are lost than are won. Successful playoff football starts and ends with ball security and consistency. -
Anyone else here going through "The Calmness?"
Coffeesforclosers replied to We'reWalking's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup! I'm cooking breakfast like it's any other weekend day. Rye Toast with butter, two eggs over hard with seasoned salt and black pepper, breakfast sausage from the local butcher. Later, we're ordering two pies from the local pizza place and making Jalapeno Poppers from scratch (we make batches of 30+, baked & broiled, not deep fried) The crew are coming over at 6 to watch. Everything is Zen. Don't know if that will hold up during the game, but that's ok. -
We are, but Shep also didn't have much of a career after he was traded for Jerry Hughes. He transitioned from player to coach pretty quickly and he's only 37.

Trump 47, Putin & The Ukraine War.
Coffeesforclosers replied to BillsFanNC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I could care less about them at this point. I'm also pessimistic. There's no reason for Putin to come around if he's winning. He's currently winning in the least efficient way possible, but nonetheless. Tarrifs and Sanctions aren't going to stop Putin. There's enough demand for Russian goods and big enough markets for them in the world to keep Russia afloat for now. This has been proven over the course of the war. So far, all this peace talk is just a continuation of Biden's policies with MAGA window dressing. -
Trump 47, Putin & The Ukraine War.

Trump: America wants a peace deal, Ukraine wants a peace deal. Putin does not want a peace deal. Shocker, but the country who started the war are the warmongers! Who knew? -
A judgement free zone is a nice name for an echo chamber. The internet is full of them.
