  1. Good luck getting that name to stick. I think it's a combination of Tyrod generally not looking past 1-2 progressions each play and also Sammy not being the primary, but instead as a decoy, in a lot of these things. Wasn't his whole thing at Clemson racking up big YAC with screens and slants and so on? It's a mystery why our "creative genius" OC hasn't shown us anything like that to this point.
  2. Yes, a touchdown on that play or on that drive would have been huge and definitely would've changed the game. I'm saying, that play should've been 2nd down, and then 3rd down you do a higher percentage play to pick up the first and give yourself more opportunity to get the 7 points.
  3. It's easy to imagine the team coming out flat or unprepared against the Chiefs. I'd love to be wrong. But with injuries and losing a heartbreaker on a short week, it's tough to see them coming out playing their best ball.
  4. It is very strange. There are some OCs that I think buy into their own press. They get called a genius once and then just start over complicating things so that they can be the reason for the success.
  5. I agree. I think the argument that "well if it worked he's a genius" is kind of dumb. If McCoy held onto the ball, it doesn't become a great call, it just prevents criticism. I'd love to see that call on a 1st or 2nd down but on 3rd-and-manageable you want to see a higher percentage throw. Generally, McCoy has great hands and I like seeing him get a deep target. But situationally that is a questionable call.
  6. I like McCoy running that deep route, but hate it as a 3rd and 6 call.
  7. I question Sammy's competitiveness. He has major talent but contrast him with McCoy who also has elite ability but shows way more heart, consistently. I understand that he doesn't have Eli throwing to him like OBJ does, but look at Hopkins. Who does he have throwing to him? And yet he produces. Hopkins & TJ Yates tore up Revis this week. But then again Sammy just isn't getting targets. Even if, say, Taylor is only capable of one or two reads, why aren't there more plays designed around Watkins getting quick throws then? Exactly!
  8. The 3 and outs tonight to me were mostly bad playcalling. Inside run, inside run, 3rd and long, punt, how many times? Credit to Rex-as-GM for finding Taylor, but I think they're using him in the wrong scheme.
  9. Ball control offense doesn't make sense for our players. This should be a spread or west coast rhythm passing team. Tyrod generally seems like a smart player, I want to see him in an offense that plays to his and the team's strengths more. They should've been throwing more and getting him into a rhythm. Screens to Sammy and McCoy should be attempted multiple times per game. Slants, curls, all that stuff with Woods, Clay. Cut out half of the inside runs and make them quick throws to McCoy and get him in space. And in general the way everyone is used is confusing. No targets for Watkins in the first half. Karlos, the north-south downhill runner, outside on 3rd and inches? Not up the gut two times in a row? Or if you have to go outside, not to Shady!? I wish I could see this offense with a Chan playbook.
  10. Agreed. Tyrod wasn't good at all but even his worst games would make EJ's top 10 best; I'm just saying if healthy there aren't better options available. I wouldn't rather have Foles or Bradford, two guys fans thought we wanted in the offseason. Keep in mind too that Belichick has a pretty long history of making opposing QBs look bad. 11. I totally agree and that sounds about right. I can't understand why there should be confusion about spiking the ball with no timeouts and not hurrying into the next play. You know how this game works. What is the confusion?
  12. It is an immoral institution but our society is filled with many such hypocrisies. My not watching won't bring the NFL down, it will only mean I don't get to enjoy the sport and camaraderie that comes with watching.
  13. Chiefs are a worthy rival. Both original AFL teams with history between their original owners. Both have old crazy loud stadiums. And since we've played them every year for the past 10 years or something it almost feels like we're in the same division. I'm maybe more pumped for Kansas City than the Pats.
  14. Bills wanted to make the playoffs. Chiefs for all intents and purposes will be a playoff game. Gotta get it done. There's no Bryce Brown or Jeff Tuel to mess it up this year.
  15. Bring him in for the back-up role but allow for camp competition. Tyrod would win but Kaep is a more valuable back-up than EJ, especially paired with Roman again. EJ should be cut or traded. Draft a midround QB and there's your 3.
  16. Sure, I'll pick some batteries up on my way home from work today.
  17. Thank Rex for Taylor. Rex's GM instincts are actually pretty underrated. I'm not saying he should get the reins to the entire franchise like Belichick but the acquisitions this year that clearly had Rex's fingerprints have a pretty good success percentage: Tyrod, Incognito, Darby, Karlos. Percy Harvin and IK would be the "busts" of the Rex picks but Harvin played great before he got hurt and we haven't really seen much of IK yet.
  18. Bills can control their own destiny but the Chiefs and Jets games are both playoff games.
  19. EJ can be a #2 on a team that didn't spend a 1st Round Pick for him to be a franchise QB. There's too much baggage on him here.
  20. What if they do win a playoff game, but it's against a 7-9 AFC South champ? Will you shout from the rooftops "ONLY NOW ARE THE BILLS NOT CRAP!"
  21. The reality is the writing's on the wall for EJ, and we should move on and find a different back-up QB and developmental prospect for next year. You're not going to make it far with your backup QB in general but EJ single-handedly cost us the London game. It's not happening for him in Buffalo. It's wasting everyone's time to keep pretending it will somehow reverse trajectory.
  22. It's absurd that the expectation is for football players to ruin their bodies and long-term health but they're not allowed to relax with marijuana if they choose. Yet alcohol's fine? It really makes zero sense.
  23. OL, DE, QB, WR, and LB are our biggest needs, imo. We should look to move on from Mario's contract, either through major restructuring or possibly a trade, but either way his value is not matching with his contract in Rex's scheme. Hughes and Dareus are the stud anchors of the D-Line, and I do think in terms of production Mario and Kyle are replaceable. Obviously Kyle is still very productive and brings leadership, and he's also cheaper, but he's probably only got 1 year left as a starter. I have more confidence in Tyrod at QB than I've had in anyone since Flutie tbh, but they should draft a QB every other year until they've got a franchise guy. OL should be taken every draft within the first 3 rounds. It's crazy how few LTs we've drafted since 2000. WR is not settled until Sammy is able to show consistent production. Generally that does happen around year 3 for receivers but I think they still want a tall target. Preston Brown looked great last year but less so in 2015 and Nigel is frustratingly inconsistent. The difference between the Bills D being good and elite will be a playmaking LB.
  24. Exactly. Darby would not be playing the way he is without Gilmore's guidance (or Coach Henderson). Gilmore's willingness to mentor Darby is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge for the team, and one of many reasons why we need to make sure to extend Stephon's contract far beyond 2016.
  25. If we have to make tough choices for financial reasons, I think, personally I'd rather trade Mario and draft a DE.
