  1. So your theory of why the COVID vaccine is bad is based on a political conspiracy theory. Got it.
  2. Old natural immunity stopped smallpox in its tracks after it killed off about a third or more of the population where it gained a foothold. I guess that's one meaning of "efficiency."
  3. Agreed. I'm on record here as saying that the investigations of Hunter and what role Joe Biden played in his dealings is both necessary and appropriate. And that should continue. Officially sliding this into an "impeachment Inquiry" is neither necessary or appropriate at this time. It may be in the future, but not now.
  4. What you are talking about is not "gene therapy."
  5. Non-political point (really). Since Summer 2020, we've had really good information showing that air circulation is key to stopping the spread. Outdoor events are generally safe. Crowded sardine-packed commercial airplanes are safe given the high air turnover rates. And many, many other examples. So as a country did we sink a lot of spending into improving HVAC systems in our schools? Or even adding multiple air purifier units to classrooms? Not that I know of. I know in my workplace (where I do typically deal with crowded indoor rooms) I had to buy my own air purifier. I bought one; the guidelines I followed said I should really have two. I was never reimbursed, but I was told to make sure everyone is masked, which we know is generally less effective than good air turnover rates. Our political system is broken. We faced a crisis. We have good data about what worked/didn't work during that crisis. We are ignoring that and acting as if we've learned absolutely nothing in the past 3 years.
  6. I doubt it too. It would just seem out of character for him. He's never been known as a blowhard, much less as a racist blowhard. Could I see him (or indeed any business owner) saying "my employees should just shut up and be glad they have a good job?" Sure. But the back to Africa stuff just doesn't ring true. We shall see.
  7. "Mr. Trotter raised complaints and concerns about this remark but no remedial action was taken." So he appears to be alleging that he included this quote in a complaint to the NFL poohbahs about what (he says) Pegula said. That would mean there's some evidence that at least he isn't bringing this forward for the first time now. That helps his case a bit, but it certainly doesn't prove that Pegula actually made this comment. We'd have to see what the NFL did with it. If they asked Pegula if he said this and he denied it then, I guess we're to the point where what all the other owners said they'd heard in the meeting is the key evidence. Cue that popcorn gif ...
  8. Ouch. We wouldn't want people to actually read what they've written before clicking "Post New Topic," now would we ...
  9. Ken Buck/R-CO used to be one of the really hardline Republicans in the House. I just heard that he expressed disapproval of the impeachment inquiry, and that the new Trumpist hard right is putting a full-court press on him. If they can't get a guy like him on board, this doesn't seem promising.
  10. Not so long ago everyone was talking about Mahomes getting frustrated by teams taking away the big play; he was trying to force it because he was tired of all those boring 11 play run/pass drives. For example: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/10/16/patrick-mahomes-chiefs-struggles/ He fixed it. Now, he did have Andy Reid. Can Ken Dorsey fix Allen? Ken Dorsey is no Andy Reid. I don't know yet whether Josh Allen is a Patrick Mahomes. Those are the big questions.
  11. Or maybe we (shock!) actually missed Edmunds? Seems to me that the big runs - particularly Hall's from deep in Jets territory - happened when everyone was pursuing the ball and not keeping contain. Edmunds was big, fast, not ultra aggressive, and in a weird way maybe complemented the playmakers (Rousseau, Milano, Von if he's playing, Poyer/Hyde) that we do have. Unpopular opinion I know ... EDIT: so while I'm at it with the unpopular opinions ... Jets deep within their own territory. Zach Wilson at QB. I'm not too concerned about them taking it 90+ yards for a TD! The focus shouldn't just be on stopping them from getting the 1st down. A first down hurts and you lose the advantage of the superb field position. But it's hardly a killer. A killer is a big play from a generally inept (with Zach) offense, an offense that really seems incapable of engineering a sustained drive of 90 yards, or even 60 yards to get in FG position. Leslie Frazier wouldn't have let this happen! (Haha)
  12. I can't remember the down and distance on that long run. How many did we have in the box? Seems like we were more lined up to do everything to stop a first-down run, unafraid of Wilson throwing, and that as soon as Hall got past the line he was gone.
  13. Agreed. Hall was taking it all the way the the end zone but he got winded.
  14. McBeane's thinking: - Running Backs are fungible. It is now common wisdom that you don't overdraft/overpay a running back. - Singletary was a fine player but lacked speed to get outside - We can compensate for that by bringing in a specialty back/receiver or three who can get outside on pitches, screens, etc. McKenzie, Cook, Hines, Harty. - The combination of more of a battering ram inside runner (Harris, Murray) and a couple of the speed guys will be better than Singletary So far? No. One excellent back (Breece Hall) > RB by Committee.
  15. Yeah, it was kind of a fun story … can he finally get the Jets over the hump. Would have been interesting to watch it play out. Now he’s just another guy who didn’t know when to walk away.
  16. I’d love it! Not gonna happen, but I’d love it.
  17. That was the weird part. I thought Harris was going to get significant carries. Running Cook between the tackles makes me cringe.
  18. OK, I get it. for me it’s just a shorthand way of saying low risk (like a punt), high potential reward (long TD pass)
  19. Beane: Breece Hall was on the board when we took Kair Elam. One of those guys was more responsible than anyone else for the W. One was a healthy inactive.
  20. Just because that will never, ever happen.
  21. But you’re acting as if there’s no potential reward in taking a deep shot. Even if there’s a 20 percent chance of success, that’s a 20 percent chance of 50 yards and 6 points. Of course the obvious problem tonight is that Diggs just wasn’t open. He’s really really good but he’s not Tyreek.
  22. Josh is reminding me of Brett Favre again. Which isn’t who we want him to be, but who does have a Super Bowl ring … There was a span of games where the short precision passing game was clicking in both 2021 and 2022. What happened?
  23. Well, yes. I was pointing out that it is situational. If it’s a down and distance that’s likely out of reach, take a chance. 3rd and 8 should be very doable to todays NFL.
