Could Peyton Manning possibly be available?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with this! Jeez Manning looked crappy before the injury. People figured out he can't throw more than 10 yards with any authority. He now faces a crowded underneath-Not good! -
I'm sorry, but I think we took a big step back

I like this. Maybe even our D kicks it up a notch and starts just beating the crap out of people like Seattle. The Pete Carroll/SEA model is the one we should follow. I would also add that Belichick was very similar in Cleveland to what Rex is right now, MINUS THE QB. It is quite possible they learned through their failure. Having said this, the offensive needs have to be a higher priority in the offseason. And, as you say, Rex understands our soft spots. -

He looked pretty athletic and good. Too bad Marrone would only throw to him 1-2 a game for 20 yards. -

Thanks for the link. I would like him back as well. It looks like 8-9 million and about 15-20 guaranteed. I just wonder if the Bills will want to have that much cap tied up in the D-line. It looks like we will be about 25-30 below the cap when all is said and done, so he fits. -

You could be right, but at what price? -

Agree with this. McKelvin coming of injury, and Graham is better as 3 or 4- not enough speed. I'm thinking a long corner in Rex's defense, like Cromartie would be deadly. Yes this makes sense. RB like Gordon, Yeldon, or Gurley would look good Bills colors. -

I'm not sure how healthy he is. Best Guard in draft is AJ Cann from South Carolina likely to go in round 2. Also, Tre Jackson FSU could be available in RD 3. Best FAs are the much mentioned Mike Iupati. Also Clint Boling and James Carpenter might be cheaper options. -

Doe's anybody think Rex will want to bring in his Nose guard from the Jets Damon Harrison who is a FA, and a good player? I'm wondering if he would have that as a higher priority. I like Hughes. But, I think in Rex's defense his value just went down to us. -

You could be right, we may not have a clear indication of our QB/skill guys. A new stud line would definetly help them. -
With Rex and Thurman in place, Roman on board, and Jim S gone. what are the current needs? Mine are: 1. QB 2. Interior O-Line 3. Corner 4. TE 5. RB Yours?

When I hear people upset that we are getting disrespected by an ESPN Knot head, all I can think of is I'm glad we signed REX. You know why? Because we need some confidence and swagger !!!! Stuff like that should just fuel us, I know it will get him fired up. -

The 49ers look like a dumpster fire right now. And, It starts with the two egomaniac guys at the top. -

Statistically it wasn't as big a drop off as some would have you believe. td/int ratio in 2013 21-8 in 2014 19-10 comp% actually went up from 58 to 61 and passer rating dropped all the way to 86 from 91. Whew Whew. the 49ers receivers are the biggest problem they had. They can't get open against teams like Seattle. -

Roman's record prior to 2014 was pretty good check it out. He runs/passes about 50/50. Hs teams average about 4.5 a carry. And, prior to this year season his teams had pretty efficient passing attacks. One thing of note his teams seem to be more of a big play passing attack off the play action. They avoid turnovers really well and rank near the top every year. -

I was scouring Greg Roman's record and thought I'd share some tidbits I uncovered. In his time as OC in SF His teams where 50/50 pass/run, interestingly very consistent 2011-14; 50-49-47-53 RUNNING GAME: Y/Run 2011-4.1 19th, 2012-5.1 3rd, 2013-4.4 9th, 2014-4.6 4th His teams have been strong teams running the ball, they had a good run blocking line and a mobile QB who helped the cause. The times I've seen the 49ers they seem to like to pound the ball between the tackles and run some option with the QB. PASSING ATTACK: Using PFR ANY rating which includes everything (sacks, TDs, Int etc.) ANY rate Y/Pass ATT 2014 24th 5.6 2013 7th 6.7 2012 6th 7.1 2011 12th 6.2 His teams have been pretty efficient passing the ball prior to this season. Top 12 3 of 4 yrs. The niners passing game is interesting upon further examination. They throw rarely to the RB. Most of the passing game is to the WR targeting each one sometimes 125-150 a season. The TE is also a threat in his attack because he had Vernon Davis. His QBs don't turn the ball over ranking 1st,4th,7th, 9th in INT %. One very interesting point about the offense is they are usually near the bottom in Sack %. Ranking 29-30-30-31!!!! I thought this might mean it was more of a big play attack. Twice in the last 4 years they ranked 2nd and 7th in Yards/ Comp. However, this year that fell to 17th in the league, It was 22nd the year Alex Smith played regularly. In Comp% they ranked 24th and 25th the last 2 years. Again, with Smith and in Kaep first years they were 4th and 12th. Kind of a mixed bad for big plays. SUMMARY: He likes to be balanced run vs pass, likes the play action passing game off of a power running attack. When they throw they have gotten some big plays, especially at TE. And, have been pretty efficient avoiding turnovers (usually one of the top teams in this regard). Finally, In yards/ drive and points/drive his teams have been pretty good prior to this season where they ranked 19 and 24 respectively. In points/drive 2011-2013 12th,9th, 12th. Hope this helps. -
