4 PLAYS CHANGED THIS ENTIRE GAME....
sven233 replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like I said, I don't know if the outcome would have been different. The Bears are the better team at this point. I just think the game would have been more competetive all the way through. The fact is that the Bills did kill themselves early with their mistakes. They hurt themselves and couldn't get out of their own way. If we make those same mistakes again, we will lose again. We deserve to lose when we make the DUMB plays we did. But what I am saying is that the Bills did not play at all like they have been early in the season today. They killed themselves very early and took themselves out of the game. But, if the Bills play up to their talent, the Bears are not 30 points better than the Bills......the game is much closer. -

Again, you miss the point........if we score that TD on the first drive, we already have points and the lead. If we catch the EASY INTs we dropped on the first 2 Bear Drives, the Bears don't score on the first 5 posessions. All of a sudden our D is playing with confidence, our offense is no longer worried about the Bears D after taking the opening frive right down the field on them and scoring a TD and you have a brand new game! This was your typical blowout game. One team misses so great opportunites and makes mistake after mistake early and never recovers. Meanwhile, the other team takes advantage of the mistakes and scores, in the meantime taking all the wind out of the other team's sails. It is the way all blowouts work. Again, I don't know whay it is so hard to understand, but if we don't make the mistakes, the game is closer! Common sense tells you that! Again, this all falls under the "coulda, shoulda, woulda" saying, but that is my point. This game "coulda, shoulda, woulda" been closer IF the Bills don't make the DUMB mistakes they did early! That is all I'm saying! -

I completely agree. If you want to go for it, put your best players on the field that give you the best chance to make it. Oh well......I'm ready to move on to Detroit. We have to win that game. -
4 PLAYS CHANGED THIS ENTIRE GAME....
sven233 replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact is that we missed a wide open TD on our first drive that would have put us up 7-0 and would have given the Bills an attitude that they could move the ball which they never had after that. Then we dropped 2 INTs on the Bears first 2 scoring drives that would have changed the complete momentum of the game. Look what turnovers did to the Bills today! If that is the other way around, it is a completely different game. Grossman was doing nothing the first few drives of the game. He was 3-9 early on and couldn't do anything. Add 2 INTS to those stats and all of a sudden Grossman is wondering what is going on. If we score off momentum after that.....even a field goal, the WHOLE GAME changes. Again, I never said the Bills would win, but the game would not have been blown out. It would have been close. And just for the record, I saw the Vikings play you right down to the last posession and we beat the Vikings (easily......granted the final score was close, but we had that game under control the whole way). And couple that with the fact that the Bears hadn't played any real competition before this game, I can still say the Bears are not as good as people are making them out to be. They are good, very good......but they are NOT 33 points better than the Bills. And of course, you say we were lucky on the TD........the Bills made it look easy once they got the ball on that drive. That drive looked like the Bills we are getting used to, not the rest of the game. The Bears did not see the real Buffalo Bills today. We didn't show up. But, if we make these plays early, the game is much tighter at the end. So yeah....I stand by my comment that the Bears are not as good as they were today and the Bills are not as bad as they were today. Crap happens on any given Sunday. Just look at the Titans and the Colts today........The Titans are nto even in the same league as the Colts, but they should have won today. The best team in the NFL is not THAT much better than the worst teams. They are beeter, but not 33 points better. -
I thought it was very interesting to watch both defenses today. They are the same defense, but today showed how one team knows how to run it and the other team is learning to run it. The Chicago team attacked every position. They pressed the receievers at the line and played physical. They didn't wait for receievers to come to them to tackle them, they went and initiated the contact and were agressive the whole day. They didn't wait around to make things happen. The Bears made things happen by forcing the issue. The Bills on the other hand did not attack. The corners played 8-10 yards off the receievers (as usual) and when the receievers for Chicago did catch the ball, instead of running up and atacking them, the corners and linebackers just sat there, frozen, waiting for the receievers to come to them. By the time the receievers got to them (usually 8 yards down the field), they had already made a move and left the corners and linebackers of the Bills in the dust. I don't know if I have ever seen worse tackling! Seemed like every play reminded me of Pennington juking Eddie Robinson out of his shoes for a TD a few years back! The Bears force the issue and make plays happen and the Bills sit back and wait for the oposition to come to them (and eventually by them). Very frustrating to watch in may ways because we are supposed to be running the same defense, or at least very similar. We have the talent to do it, but for some reason, we don't have that same attacking style. Tough to watch.

4 PLAYS CHANGED THIS ENTIRE GAME....

I never said we would have won the game, but there is no way we get beat by 33 points either. I think if we make this plays, we keep the game competetive instead of it being over by halftime. Those were game changing plays that killed the Bills spirit in this game and killed any hope the Bills had. I mentioned it in point 2. However, where as most fans want to rag on the coaching staff for the playcall, I won't do that. If Moorman is patient, he may still be running because the play was blocked VERY well. But, he left way too early and scred the play up. If he catches the ball and then takes off, the play works, no doubt. So, I will not blame the coaches for that one. You have to execute the play and they botched it from the start. Bad snap and Moorman was too impatient. If they execute it, we may not be having any of this conversation. Also, you have to remember my first point. If Losman hits Evans in the endzone, the fake punt never happens. Evans was open and you have to make those plays when you get the chance. Of course, when the Bills don't hit that pass, that eventually leads to the fake punt being botched. When it rains, it pours. -
I am not going to go on a huge rant here because it just is not worth it. The Bears are not as good as they showed today and the Bills are not as bad as they showed in this game. That said, I do not want to take anything away from Chicago. They played very well, but I feel that the Bills got themselves in trouble early and they were completely messed up after that. I truly believe the next 4 plays killed any chance of the Bills winning today. They all happened VERY EARLY and would have changed the entire game if they execute. 1. JP overthrew Evans in the endzone on the first drive. Evans was open and Losman just missed him. I am not blaming anyone, but the fact is that if we score that TD there, the game is completely different. We would have taken away what the Bears pride themselves most on on the first series of the game. We would have had all the momentum on our side and we would have had the confidence that we could score and that would have carried us through the end of the game. Would have changed the entire game. 2. Not getting the 3rd and inches on that same first drive. As I have been saying all along......and for many years........sometimes you just have to line up and knock someone off the ball. We have an undersized offensive line who just can't muscle up when we need it most. NO EXCUSE FOR NOT PICKING UP 3rd and a foot. Again, if we pick that up, we continue on the drive and probably get some points. Instead, we are stuffed because our O-LINE can't push and few inches and we end up taking a penalty on 4th down and then botch the fake punt. Again, a huge game changing play there that would have probably changed the entire feeling for the Bills and Bears and made this game much more competetive. 3. A dropped INT by Thomas on the Bears first drive. Another mistake that you can't make against teams on the road. He couldn't have asked for an easier pick and he just dropped it. Yeah, the Bears only ended up with 3 on that drive, but it is absolutely a deflating feeling knowing that you did everything right and dropped the easiest INT opportunity you may ever see. In fact, McGee could have caught that as well, but they both end up dropping it. By the way, Thomas dropped another one later in the game. Not a good day for our secondary. 4. Peerless Price dropped a wide open pass that would have gotten us a big first down early in the game. Price ran a great route and Losman hit him perfectly. He just dropped the ball and there went another drive. Several dropped passes today. Granted, there were a lot of htings that went wrong today. I still say we brought a lot of it on ourselves. We are not good enough to overcome our own dumb mistakes and still beat another team. I think these 4 plays which were very early in the game really messed this team up and they started to press when they didn't have to. They completely left the gameplan they came in with because of these dumb plays and it just snowballed from there. We make the above plays and we might be having a totally different conversation right now. And finally, this was the worst game I have seen our secondary play in a LONG time. Clemens and McGee were TERRIBLE. Clements couldn't tackle a slug. How many times did he play 10 yards off the receiever, the receiever catch a 3 yard pass and then run by Clements who WAS STANDING COMPLETELY FROZEN waving at the receiever as he went by?!!!!!! Clements may be the worst tackler I have ever seen (yes.....even worse than Primetime). At least Sanders made a play once in a while! Clements is a useless piece of trash right now. And McGee was no better. He gets beat on every double move he sees. Just terrible. Anyways, I am ready to just move on to Detroit. Another 'MUST-WIN' game early in the year. At least we didn't get beat as bad as the Jets did today!

Im putting a bounty on the head of Joe Theismann

Actually, I did understand what he was trying to say, but come on.........there are a lot better ways of trying to say that. It just sounded completely stupid when he said it. But yes, I do know what he was referring to. Just think he could have explained himself a little better. -

I don't know if any of you heard it, but the guy actually said this in tonight's game "with the field the way it is, receivers tonight will have to run with their body on top of their legs." I'm not joking........he really made that comment. -
The Bills dominated the first half and left point on the field. Didn't like the fake FG attempt..........with the wind, I think you have to kick that. McGahee is unstopable. Must touch it more. Defense has to step it up. Big plays are killing them. They are solid except for a couple of big plays, but those plays cost us 14 points. I have a feeling we might be up against it here. I think it may be tough to win today. We just don't have our A Game. Guess we'll see. GOT TO STEP IT UP IN THE SECOND HALF TO HAVE A CHANCE.

Spikes is an animal. That piece they did about his rehab process was amazing. You can just tell the guy wants it sooooooooo bad. I wish he wouldn't have gone down withe the hamstring. The guy is an animal. I don't know if he will play against the Jets, but I hope he comes back soon. This defense would be among the best in the league with his playmaking ability.

As most of you know, I said a couple weeks ago after the terrible loss to NE that I thought the Bills were going to win their next 3 games. Well, I was right on the Dolphins' game and I know we are going to beat the Jets tomorrow. But, not only that, here are a couple of other things I expect from the game tomorrow: 1. Willis McGahee will have a fantastic game tomorrow. I fully expect him to rush for AT LEAST 125 yards and have AT LEAST 1 TD. For whatever reason, Willis seems to get more motivation playing against Vilma than any other source. But hey, whatever gets him up for the game. I expect him to be the MVP of tomorrow's game. He will have AT LEAST 3 catches as well. Don't be surprised if he touches the ball 30+ times. 2. I expect our defense to show what a fraud Chad Pennington really is. They guy can barely throw it 30 yards and has NO zip on his passes. With our speed in the secondary, I expect us to pick him off AT LEAST twice, possibly one for a big return. Also, I believe we will get a fairly consistent pass rush which will only help our DBs. 3. Our Special Teams will continue to shine. Maybe our first KR/PR for a TD this year? Possibility. 4. I don't expect the Jets to score more than 10 points. I think our defense is for real and I think they keep it up. They may get gashed for 1 or 2 big runs (usually happens against backup RBs.......Willie Parker anyone???). However, I still think outside those couple runs, we shut them down. 5. Finally, I expect us to win this game fairly easily. Maybe 24-10 or somehting like that. Losman will fin Evans more and I expect the offense to come up with a couple big plays..........mostly McGahee allowing the big plays to happen. ENJOY ANOTHER BILLS WIN EVERYBODY!

Wow........those were not the quotes I got. They wanted $15 per month for the digital cable with equipment. And the sports tier will be more if they add the NFL Network.
-
Right on.......
-
Well, that would be my solution if it was possible. I never would have had cable in the first place if I could have had DirecTV. But, unfortunately I live in an apartment complex that does not allow dishes (obviously stops me from getting DirecTV or Dish). I am on the North side of the building with no balconey or patio. So, there is no chance of me getting a dish. So, yeah, your suggestion would be great, but it is just not possible living where we are. We have no choice in who our TV provider is. Believe me, if I could have had DirecTV, I would have had it a couple years ago when we moved in.
-
I have beat this topic to death, but there has been no results. Time Warner is terrible and are so greedy that us fans are the ones that have to pay the price. And now, because of Time Warner's greed, we no longer have NFL Network. If Time Warner gets their way and they put it on a Sports Tier, most people could not afford it. Right now, I am paying $55 per month for basic, analog cable (not including internet). If they put this on a Sprts Tier, they would be expecting me to pay an additional $15 for the equipment and digital cable. On top of that, I would then have to purchase the Sports Tier, another $10 per month. So, what it all comes down to is that they want me, the customer, to pay AT LEAST $25 MORE PER MONTH to get the NFL Network! It would cost them less than a buck to give it to me. How is this right? THEY ARE COMPLETE IDIOTS!

For those that are interested, the early line has the Buffalo Bills a 5 1/2 point favorite against the Jets. Thought it might be interesting to some! BILLS (-5.5) VS JETS (+5.5)
-
The fact is, the less I hear Clements and McGee's name, the better because that means they are doing their jobs down the field. So, not hearing his name that last 2 games is a good thing.
-
Well, thank you for the compliment. I do try to provide the best analysis and breakdown I can. But, fo this game, I didn't think it was necessary. There was a lot that went right......but there ws not a lot of things that just stood out. Ryan Denney had the game of his life. Both safties showed why they are going to man this defensive backfield for years to come. JP managed the game and didn'tmake the big mistake. Good pass rush from the front 4. McGahee had a great game. Josh Reed was very solid. Roscoe Parrish is special. You didn't hear Clements of McGee's name much which means they shut down the outside. Jason Taylor was a non-factor which means Peters and Gandy did their job. Coaching was excellent (we had the better coach today). We were the better football team......PERIOD. The only thing I would like to see more of is McGahee getting some more balls through the air. I'd like to see some more screens and swings. I would also like to see the TE more involved. But, overall, I loved the way this game went. It looks like this team is gearing up to stop each team and is ready to attack each team they play in a different way. That all goes back to coaching. For the first time in a VERY LONG TIME, we OUT-COACHED our opponent. Don't be surprised if next week we come out and beat the Jets in a completely different fashion (although I think McGahee will have over 125 next week). This team is exciting to watch and you will see things start to open up very soon. This team will make the playoffs this year if they continue to keep the penalties down and don't turn the ball over.
-
Hey guys. I know some of you may be expecting my usual long, in depth analysis of this game today, but really, I only have a couple things to say. 1. The defense played GREAT. Good pass rush (7 sacks.....enough said) 2. GREAT GAMEPLAN! I know, a lot of people are probably going to wonder about whay the offense didn't put up any numbers.....why did Losman throw for under a hundred yards, why didn't we see more plays down the field, etc. The fact is, they were in control of this game from the start. There was NO reason to push the ball down the field when McGahee is ripping off 8-10 yards at a time. They ran the ball effectively and the completely SHUT DOWN THE STINKING FISH. It was the PERFECT gameplan and it was run the way it was designed. 3. The biggest play of the game was the Crowell INT. That play took it out of the Dolphins. A close runner-up would be the pass interference on Evans. The Bills finally took a shot down the field and it paid off. SPEED KILLS. 4. With all due respect to Vincent, WE ARE A BETTER DEFENSE WITH SIMPSON AND WHITNER BACK THERE. With TV going on IR, we upgraded our defense and I thing the coaching staff knew it. I know Spikes and some other Vets may not be happy for their buddy, but the fact is, the Bills are more athletic and MUCH faster back there now. We have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. 5. Perhaps the best thing the Bills did today is stick with their running game. McGahee was very good today and they showed they can run the ball good enough even though Miami STACKED the line of scrimmage a lot of the game. Finally, I think it only gets better from here. SPIKES DID NOT PLAY TODAY AND WE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN THE DOLPHINS. When he is healthy, our defense is going to be EVEN BETTER. Also, the Special Teams played excellent today. Moorman was perfect of his punts and Parrish (as I have said many times) is spectacular. There is no quicker player in the NFL. He changed field position today averaging over 14 yards per punt return. Look for that to continue. Also, I believe he was robbed on that penalty that called the TD back. Every team runs that play and you never see that call. So, I think he should have had that TD as well. Remember what I said last week.........I said that this team was going to win their next 3 games.......1 down, 2 to go. This team can hang with everyone. I still say they have a great chance at the playoffs. GREAT WIN! GO BILLS!
-
BIG NEWS....... Well, they are obviously freeing up a roster spot for someone. Just have to find out who. Also, I think getting Simpson the experience this year will only help us in the future. He has a knack for making plays, but is still a little young. Looks like we will see the future of our safety positions the rest of the year.......and that's a good thing.

"Dinner's On Me, Smartass" Update
sven233 replied to IDBillzFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, too bad I can't change my picks now, because if my new prediction comes true, I will be out this week. I fully expect the Bills to win their next 3 games! I had them losing in Miami this week in this thread, but after seeing training camp, the preseason, and now in this first game, this tea is better than I gave them credit for and I expect them to challenge for the playoffs now. The Bills will win their next 3 games! -
The game is over....let's look ahead.....
sven233 replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I don't think this team is going to the Super Bowl, I do think that with consistent improvement, we can challange for a playoff spot. There were a lot of positives that came out of this game, but I am still dissapointed we blew it. I just hope this game doesn't come back to haunt us late in the season....... But, if we can get to 3-1, like I predict we will, I think the playoffs will definately be a realistic goal this season. For the first time in 6 years, this TEAM looked the part.......almost. I say they get it figured out and get it figured out soon. -
Well, the NE game is over and while I am extremely dissapointed we didn't win (WE HAD THIS GAME WON AND LET IT SLIP AWAY), I am not going to dwell on it too much. Yeah, I had some thoughts on this game, but really, I don't want to get into it anymore. Mistakes were made and the game was lost. HOWEVER, I am completely confident that this coaching staff with get these mistakes corrected and I am completely confident the team will respond to their mistakes turning these negatives into positives. THAT BEING SAID, HERE IS THE PREDICTION....... The Buffalo Bills WILL WIN THEIR NEXT 3 GAMES. We will beat Miami.......We will beat the Jets........and we will beat the Vikings. This team will be 3-1. After they get there, we'll re-evaluate then. But the Bills will win their next 3 games.
-
We lost today....why dont I feel
sven233 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Although there were a lot of positives that you could take out of this game, I am not happy at all. The Bills had this game won and they let it slip away.....again. Because of this, I can't be too happy right now. A lot of poeple look at this game in a positive way, but this was a game we should have won. BOTTOM LINE. I just hope that this game does not come back to haunt us down the road.
